Recently, a designer in Hong Kong has invented a special book that can transform(变形) into a piece of furniture. The special book is called Bookniture. It can be unfolded to become a chair or a small table. People either can carry it around for a portable(轻便的) chair or can store it in their homes to use it as extra furniture.
The book was designed by Mike Mak. He came up with the idea after never having enough seats for his friends in his home in Hong Kong.
“I love having friends at my place, but I have never had enough seats for everyone—we would always end up with just sitting on the floor. I really want a seat that doesn’t take up any floor space when I don’t need it. One day, the empty space in my bookcase drew my attention. Then came the new idea—Bookniture, furniture hidden in a book,” said the 30-year-old designer.
Made of fully-recyclable kraft paper (牛皮纸), the book measures 33 cm by 18 cm. It expands to 14 times bigger once it’s opened, and can support up to 1,000 kg of weight. It comes in two colours, brown and black, and can be bought for between £55 and £57.

Lots of high schools often have football games during the autumn term. I didn’t know anything about football, but I went to some of the football games in order to have fun with my friends. I thought I could learn the rules from others. However, to my surprise, some American students don’t even know the rules but still go to the games in order to socialize. They cheer for the football players and have fun together.
The other common way to socialize is to join after-school clubs. You can choose clubs that you are interested in and make a lot of new friends. For example, one of my friends started a sketch(素描) club. I was interested, so I joined the club. There I met lots of students who were also interested in sketching. We soon became friends with each other.
Socializing is an important thing in the US. But grades are still important, too. A complete student should have the ability to balance(平衡) his or her studying and socializing.
