① however 副词“不过,然而”,可用于句首、句中或句末。(注意:however+,标点符号)
e.g.My room is small, however, it’s comfortable.
②touching形容词“动人的,感人的”= moving
是由动词touch+ing构成。

【辨析】however与but
however 副词,“不过,然而”,表示转折时,与后面的句子用逗号隔开
but 连词,“但是”,表示转折时,与后面的内容相连,不用逗号隔开
e.g. 【比较】
She’s very intelligent. However, she’s quite lazy.
她非常聪明,但是她很懒惰。
She is young but very clever.
她虽然年轻但非常聪明。

2. Whoever took this could live forever, and Hou Yi planned to take it with Chang’e.
1)whoever“无论谁,不管什么人”,可引导主语从句、宾语从句、让步状语从句。
e.g.I will take whoever wants to go.
2)拓展:由whoever 举一反三 whatever(无论什么)/ wherever(无论何处)/ whenever(无论何时)
3)注意:no matter who也有“无论谁”的含义,但它只能引导让步状语从句,此时可与whoever互换。

从属连词
时态
用作宾语的从句叫做宾语从句,从句部分用陈述语序。
that
if 和whether
当宾语从句由陈述句变化而来时,由that来引导从句,其中的that无具体意义,在口语中可以省略。例如:I believe (that) our team will win the basketball match.
当宾语从句由一般疑问句变化而来时,可用if或whether来引导,意为“是否”。例如:David asked her if/whether she slept well last night.
主句是一般现在时,宾语从句的时态可根据具体情况而定;主句是一般过去时,宾语从句也常用过去时态。
宾语从句表示客观事实或真理时,其时态不受主句限制,用一般现在时。例如:Dad told me that the sun rises in the east.
