Learn How to Have a Learning Vacation
Going on a vacation to learn a skill you have long wanted to pick up sounds like a good gateway, but be cautious, said John Spence, the president of a travel company in Calif. “If you don't pick the right skill for you, or go in with unrealistic (不现实的)expectations, your precious time off won't be enjoyable,” he said.
Here, he shares his advice on planning a learning vacation that you won’t regret taking:
FOLLOW YOUR PASSION (热情). 43. . They include cooking, photography, art history, farming or a sport such as diving or horseback riding. To get the most out of the trip, choose something you're passionate about.
44. With whatever skill you intend to learn, figure out whether you want an immersion (沉浸) or only to occupy a part of your trip. It's possible to learn cooking basics, for example, by taking a week long course at Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland. Another option is to attend several half-day classes at the school and have more free time to explore the destination itself. 45.. So make sure that it's what you really want,” Mr. Spence said.
CONSIDER YOUR BUDGET. No matter the skill, you can learn it by taking a vacation in a range of price ranges. 46.. If you want to learn scuba diving (水肺式潜泳), for example, heading to the Maldives will cost several thousand dollars per person, while a scuba diving trip to the Florida Keys is a more wallet-friendly choice.
DON'T FORGET THE CHILDREN. 47.. provided that they are fun. “Yes, you want your kids to learn, but you don’t want them to be bored by overloading them with too much information.” Mr. Spence said.
A.A LITTLE OR A LOT
B.Don't be influenced by others’ interests
C.WHAT SKILL DO YOU WANT TO LEARN
D.Learning vacations can be great family trips, too
E.The options for what you can learn on your vacation are limitless
F.Having a clear idea of your budget will help you home in on the right trip
G.Spending your entire break devoted to learning something new can be stressful

Shuikou village, in East China's Zhejiang province, is home to 10,000 residents, and about 30 percent of them are engaged in the homestay business. The village has developed into one of the major rural tourism destinations in the Yangtze River Delta(三角洲)region over the years.
As cross-provincial tourism has resumed nationwide, locals in Shuikou are back in business and looking forward to a full recovery of the local tourism industry.
Homestay owner Zheng Yunfang has been busy answering customers' calls, taking down their information, while checking the booking status of her hostelry(旅馆)since early August. "Our 18 guest rooms were fully booked over the past few weeks, and we've received bookings up to November," says Zheng, who runs Ziming Mountain Villa(别墅)in Shuikou. Just walking distance away from Zheng's villa, another local homestay owner, Song Chaofeng, has begun receiving visitors as well. He is starting to harvest the reward of an earlier promotion of his homestay on the short-video app Douyin, also known as TikTok.
As an experiment, Song made a video featuring local food and landscapes earlier this year and uploaded it online after a bit of simple editing. "It was a total surprise that several thousand people watched it the next day."
Tourist Qi Jia, from Shanghai, recently visited Song's place with her family after flipping(翻转)through Song's Douyin account. "My child loves playing table tennis here, and my parents love the distinctive rural-style breakfast; with fresh and nutritious food that is picked right from the field. It feels right to come here.
At the moment, Song says he will focus on maintaining the quality of his homestay operations and updating his fans online on the latest developments. "Hopefully, they can all come. here and experience what we have to offer."

The race to introduce the first commercial flying taxi is officially on. Google, Boeing and Porsche are among 20 companies testing their machines, laying the groundwork for wider production and starting to encourage government officials to bring autonomous all-electric vehicles into the skies in just a few years. Lilium, a German start-up company, has raised more than US $100 million from investors. Its prototype(雏形)jet—which is still seeking certification from European regulators(欧洲监管机构)—is able to take off and land like a helicopter, and is quiet enough "to land in some areas that are traditionally off-limits to aircraft"—even midtown Manhattan.
However, the possibility of air vehicles over New York already represents a clear and present danger to public safety. New York skies are already filled with helicopters. Since 1983, there have been at least 30 helicopter crashes in the city. "There are several challenges to overcome before commuters(上下班往返的人)are flying through the air," said Dalvin Brown in USA Today. Many of the vehicles now being imagined require "magical electric batteries that doesn't exist—yet." The best that anyone can do right now with an electric battery is 20 minutes of flight. An even bigger obstacle(障碍)is gaining approval(批准)from the FAA(American Federal Aviation Administration), which has strict rules and guidelines for small aircraft, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
That's why the first practical commercial tests of autonomous taxis are likely to be outside the US, said Jeremy Bogaisky on . "EHang became the first company to receive approval from Chinese aviation regulators to establish an autonomous air-taxi service in Guangzhou." To succeed in the US, air taxi companies will need much more than that. Taking a small aircraft through the regulatory forest of safety certification to production can cost US $75 to US $100 million.
54.Which is special about the Lilium prototype jet, according to the passage
A.It's the most expensive model.
B.It's already available on the market.
C.It's suitable for midtown Manhattan.

C.Related official policies. D.Potential market risks.
56.Which of the following best describes the approval process for everything from safety to production
A.Quick and economical. B.Strict and expensive.
C.Difficult and time-saving. D.Unsafe and impractical.
Last week Amazon announced Word Runner, a new tool for reading Kindle books. Word Runner is a software update that shows one word at a time, instead of words, sentences and paragraphs on one page.
Amazon says Word Runner was developed to make reading faster. By seeing one word at a time on the screen, you will not lose your place on the page. It may help you to focus on what you are reading.
Opinions about Word Runner are mixed. Carmen Blyth, Ph. D., and a teacher of English as a Second Language (ESL), says Word Runner is not optimal reading.
In the Kindle Forums at Amazon, a commenter called CB Retriever says, “Thanks, but that absolutely will not work for me as I too do lines and blocks of text at a time __ I think the last time I read word by word was back when I was learning to read. ”
Len Edgerly, business journalist and host of The Kindle Chronicles podcast, had a chance to try out Word Runner. In his podcast, Edgerly said that Word Runner is “a dramatically different way to read”.
Brake
You can pause Word Runner by tapping the pause button, called Brake. Brake lets you move words forward and backward. You can go back and re-read words using Brake.
Availability
According to Amazon, Word Runner will be available soon for some English-language books on the Kindle app for Android devices and on Fire tablets.
Word Runner will work with select English-language Kindle books from Amazon sites in all countries, says an Amazon representative. Amazon has not yet said whether Word Runner will be coming to the Kindle app for iPhone and iPad.
Dynamic Pacing
Word Runner uses a feature called “Dynamic Pacing” to adjust the speed around complicated words. Dynamic Pacing automatically slows the speed of Word Runner for complicated words, punctuation, and paragraph breaks. It makes changes based on the natural rhythm of your reading.
57.In CB Retriever’s opinion, _____________.
A.Word Runner provides one with necessary information to understand what he is reading
B.good readers can read four words at a time
C.Word Runner is not so practical for him as he reads lines and blocks of text at a time
D.Word Runner is “a dramatically different way to read”
58.From the passage, we can draw the conclusion that ___________.
A.Word Runner will soon be available for iPhone and iPad
B.Word Runner will work with all English language books in all countries
C.Word Runner is a software which updates one word at a time
D.people will soon be able to use Word Runner to read some English-language books on Android devices and Fire tablets
59.“Dynamic Pacing” is designed to _________.
A.regulate the speed of reading
B.quicken the speed of reading something easy
C.let you move words forward and backward
D.allow you to see all of the words on a page on your screen

Should Video Games Be Art
Back in April this year, film critic Roger Ebert decided to handle the topic of the cultural importance of video games from the perspective of whether they could ever be regarded as art. Clearly, Ebert 60. (convince) that no game so far could even dream of being considered as coming close to a work of art.
In today’s post, Ebert returns to the topic to put an end to the debate that has been going on ever since: though he stands by 61. he believes in — namely that, at least in theory and principle, video games will never be art — he can now admit that he shouldn’t have expressed his opinion without knowing what he was talking about. And that is his biggest mistake, as far as he is concerned, 62. he expressed a judgment on a public forum(论坛)without having played a single video game — and all the while 63. (insist) that was the last thing on his wish list. He approached the matter strictly from a theoretical point of view and that’s not fair 64. the gaming industry — or the gamers who took offense, for that matter.
“I was a fool for mentioning video games in the first place. I would never express an opinion on a movie I hadn’t seen. Yet I have declared that video games 65. never be Art. I still believe this, but I should never have said so. Some opinions are best kept to yourself. So far, 4,547 comments 66. (rain) down upon me for that blog entry. Perhaps 300 supported my position. The rest were united in opposition. What you see now posted are almost all of the comments 67. (send) in. They are mostly intelligent, well-written, and right about one thing in particular: I should not have written that entry without being more familiar with the actual experience of video games,” Ebert writes about the very post 68. started the debate.
Most posters pointed to him that he was also doing so without as much as offering a clear definition of Art. “69. gamers experience video games as a form of art, does that not automatically make them so?” some said. Others, tired of reading what others had argued before them, were simply content to say “Ebert doesn’t get it.”

When I was a little kid, I dreamed of keeping on a dog. My parents disagreed, saying that I was too young that I couldn't take care of myself, let alone a dog. I didn't give up. Instead, I tried to be independence and often helped with housework. A few month later, my parents found that I had become considerate than before. They finally approve of my request. On my eight birthday, they bought me a lovely dog as the gift. Followed my parents' directions, I've learned how to raise the dog. I still miss those days that we accompanied each other.

第2空是本段的标题,纵观全文,各段标题字母均大写,故本题答案在A和C中进行选择。根据“an immersion(沉浸)”和“only to occupy a part of your trip(仅占据旅行的一部分)”可知,本段提供了两种学习方案供我们选择,A LITTLE, OR A LOT(一点或是很多)表示选择关系,且本段内容相符,其中“A LITTLE”与“only to occupy a part of your trip”相对应,“A LOT”与“an immersion”相对应,故选A项。
45.
空后的“so”是解题的关键,其前后句应表示因果关系,“so make sure that it's what you really want(所以要确保这是你真正想要的)”说明了结果,G项Spending your entire break devoted to learning something new can be stressful

be fair to表示“对……是公平的”,故填to。
65.考查情态动词。句意:但我已经宣称,电子游戏永远不可能(应该)是艺术。空后是动词原形,需要填情态动词,根据句意可知此处表示“能”或“应该”,故填can/should。
66.考查时态。句意:到目前为止,我收到了4547条评论。“So far”表明用现在完成时,故填have rained。

so...that...是固定短语,意为“如此......以至于......”,故将too改为so。
3.考查形容词。句意:相反,我试着独立,经常帮助做家务。be后跟形容词作表语,independence的形容词是independent,意为“独立的”,故将independence改为independent。
4.考查名词的复数。句意:几个月后,我父母发现我比以前更体贴了。A few后用名词的复数,故将month改为months。
5.考查比较级。句意:几个月后,我父母发现我比以前更体贴了。由后面的than可知,considerate应用比较级,即more considerate,故在become后添加more。
71.Dear Sir,
I’ m writing to talk about the problems of food safety nowadays. In order to reduce the cost and make more profits, some food companies don’t take necessary safety measures to guarantee the food quality. As a result, more and more low-quality food flows into the market, doing a lot of harm to consumers’ health.
In my opinion, food is essential to human beings. We can not live without proper food. If no notice were taken of food safety, the health of the whole nation would suffer. So I call on the whole society to take action and put an end to the low-quality food. Only in this way can we live a healthier life.
Yours truly,
Li Hua
