Wolf Warrior 2 (《战狼II》), a movie that made box office history in China in 2017, tells the story of how the Chinese government successfully rescues overseas Chinese citizens in Africa.
At the end of the film, there is one line that stands out: “When you meet with danger in a foreign land, do not give up! Please remember, at your back stands a strong motherland.”
The movie sends the message that overseas Chinese will always receive timely help from China. But in the future, some headstrong(任性的) citizens will not get this help for free, People’s Daily reported.
On March 26, the Ministry of Foreign Affaires (MFA) worked out a draft for regulations on consular (领事的) protection and assistance, the Xinhua News Agency reported. The draft says that those who insist on travelling to dangerous places without considering warnings given by the MFA will not be able to take advantage of free rescue services.
For example, the MFA recently release a travel advisory (安全提醒) saying that Chinese citizens should avoid travelling to Maldives. Chinese who travel there and run into trouble may still ask for aid from the Chinese Embassy. But they will have to cover the cost of their rescue later.
In fact, this is a common international practice, People’s Daily said. Countries like the US, the UK and Canada have similar regulations.
According to the MFA, over 130 million Chinese mainlanders travelled overseas in 2017. The MFA issued over1000 travel advisories to advise Chinese citizens of the risks they may face when travelling.

D. People will not get free help if they ignore the MFA’s warnings
27. If the regulation is put into practice, we can infer that _____.
A. China will be the first country in the world to do so
B. People may have second thoughts about travelling to dangerous places
C. The number of people who can travel overseas will be less than 130 million
D. Only rich people will be able to afford to travel overseas

In recent years, Japan has had many advanced and unusual toilets, including some with self-acting lids (盖子) and self-warming seats. Now Tokyo is trying something completely new—public toilets with see-through walls.
To be fair, the walls of the new public toilets aren’t always transparent (透明的). They are made of a special kind of “smart glass”. When someone enters the toilet and locks the door, the glass becomes dark—it clouds over so that no one can see in. When the door is unlocked, the glass clears up.
Mr. Ban, the designer, points out the smart glass he chose for the walls has already been used in office buildings, where privacy is needed from time to time. The secret to the glass is that the flow of electricity can change the way the crystals (晶体) in the glass line up, which changes the glass between dark and transparent.
The new toilets have been built in some parks in Tokyo. Because the restrooms are lit up at night, they help provide light for the parks where they are located. Mr. Ban says the restrooms are like beautiful lanterns.
So far, many people have tried the new restrooms. Some people are excited to use the unusual ones. Others worry that the walls might not work properly one day, and could fail to protect them when they’re using the toilets. The common complaint in Japan is that public restrooms are often short of soaps. Some people say they would rather have soaps than fashionable new restrooms.
Mr. Ban’s toilets are just one of several new public toilet designs that will be put into use across Tokyo in the coming months as part of the Tokyo Toilet project. A group called the Nippon Foundation asked some famous designers to come up with new designs to improve the public restrooms in Tokyo and prepare for the coming Olympics.
28. What is special about the new public toilets in Tokyo
A. They have powerful lids and seats. B. Their walls can smartly turn clear or dark.
C. They are made of some see-through plastic.
D. Their doors can be locked with self-acting controls.
29. What can be learned about the glass from the designer’s words in Paragraph 3
A. It has been widely used in public buildings. B. It is specially designed for young workers.
C. It can produce beautiful colors at night. D. It is an electrically-controlled product.
30. What do the public generally consider the new toilets
A. They hold different opinions on them. B. They think the toilets are easily damaged.
C. They praise the fashionable design of them. D. They care more about the number of clean toilets
31. What can be the best title of the text
A. Japan is preparing itself for the coming Olympics
B. Japan is replacing its old toilets with smart ones
C. Japan tries out see-through public toilets D. Japan’s toilet problem has been solved

My family and I never talked about school as the ticket to a future. I was in the classroom, but I wasn’t there to learn to write, read or even speak. When it was my turn to read, I wanted to hide. I was 13 years old, but I already hated being who I was.
I had an English teacher, Mr. Creech, who knew I couldn’t read. In one of my first lessons the teacher said that anyone who had a reading age below six had to stand up. I felt so embarrassed. But at the same time, it made me realize that I needed to change the situation. I was determined it wouldn’t happen again. Later that day, Mr. Creech encouraged me and promised he would try his best to help me learn to read. From then on, I never gave up practicing reading.
Then when I was 41 years old, one day, I planned to fly back to Texas to visit my friends and family. On my way from the airport, I saw Mr. Creech buying himself a drink. I rushed over and reached into my pocket to pay for him. "Do I know you " he asked. "Yes, sir, you do know me," I answered excitedly. "My name is Anthony Hamilton. You taught me English." The look on his face told me that he remembered the boy he’d once encouraged.
"I’m so glad I had a chance to see you," I said. "And Mr. Creech, I have great news to share." I told him I had learned to read. But that wasn’t all. I had become a published author and an active speaker. "The next time you get another Anthony Hamilton in your classroom, please encourage him to read as well," I added.
The experts say what once worried me has a name: dyslexia (诵读困难). But I can tell you it was a lack of desire for education.
32.Why did the author want to hide
A.Because he couldn’t read at all. B. Because he felt sorry for himself.
C. Because he hated being laughed at. D. Because he didn’t have a ticket.
33.Which of the following could best describe Mr. Creech
A.Emotional and dedicated(有奉献精神的).
B. Demanding(高要求的) and enthusiastic(热情的).
C. Considerate(体贴的) and dutiful(有责任心的).
D. Friendly and ambitious(有抱负的).
34.Why couldn’t the author read before meeting Mr. Creech
A. Because his reading age was not long enough.
B. Because he didn’t have inner driving force(力量) to learn to read.
C. Because he was afraid of reading before the class.
D. Because his parents didn’t teach him how to read.
35.What can we infer from the passage
A. Mr. Creech taught two Anthony Hamiltons.
B. Dyslexia made the author unable to read.
C. The author had become an active speaker.
D. The author was grateful(感激的) to Mr. Creech.

I couldn’t even sort through the first box of our dog Bama’s toys without bursting into tears. My husband, Alan, found me sitting on the floor, holding our dog’s favorite toy. He gently pulled me to my feet. “It’s okay, Lisa,” he said. “I’ll put these away. Why don’t you go outside and get some air ” I nodded.
It had been a few months since our beloved Bama had passed away. Alan and I didn’t have children. Our boxer(拳狮犬) was our baby. After Bama’s death, we couldn’t bring ourselves to go through his toys to decide what to keep. I told myself I’d do it when I was ready. Apparently, I still wasn’t.
Now I sat on my front porch(门廊) and sobbed(抽泣,哭泣). Friends and family had suggested we get another dog, but Alan and I dismissed(放弃) the idea. We couldn’t go through that kind of heartbreak(心碎) again.
I gazed out over the yard. Across the street was a dog. A boxer. Was he real or just my wishful imagination I blinked(眨眼). The boxer was still there. We locked eyes. He came across the street, straight toward me. Hesitantly, I offered my hand. He sniffed(嗅) it eagerly then he licked(舔)me. I let out a surprised laugh. He pushed his head into my lap(大腿) to be petted.
This dog was younger than Bama, smaller. He was well-fed and well-dressed. He wore a collar(项圈) but had no ID. I knew he must belong to someone in the neighborhood, but I’d never seen another boxer around. I would have remembered if I had.
“Where did you come from ” I asked the dog, scratching(挠) him behind the ears.
He just sat there at ease. He didn’t seem lost. Just as if he were dropping by for a visit.
“Alan!” I called. “You have to come see this!”
Alan joined me, and we sat together in awe for a moment. Then the boxer got up and slowly ran off .

第二节读后续写(满分25分)
Paragraph 1:
The next day, there was a strange scratching at the door. I opened it to find my unexpected guest—the mystery boxer, who seemed to still remember me. He came over lightly and licked my hand, as if to erase my painful memories. Seeing him follow me from room to room, I gradually felt the ache in my heart lessen. I suddenly realized that I could now pass Bama’s favorite toys to my guest. So each day I would stand at the front door, waiting for the happy moment when my guest came and played with the toys.
Paragraph 2:
A week later, a young man I’d never seen before came in to visit. The man said his family had just moved to the neighborhood. He asked me if I happened to see a dog, a boxer recently. I said “Yes” and told him actually “my guest” had been paying me regular visits. He looked embarrassed and then apologized for the trouble his cutie caused for me. I told him there was no need to apologize and actually he was a big help in working through my grief. It has been three years since that day. Now Bama’s toys don’t just sit in the room, gathering dust.
