Unit 6 Do you like bananas Section A(Grammar focus-3c)
Good morning, everyone. I am XXX from XX Middle School. I’m very happy to share our lesson with you. My teaching content is Unit 6 Do you like bananas Section A grammar focus-3c, which comes from PEP, the first term of Grade 7. I will explain the lesson from the following six parts.
PartⅠ The analysis of teaching material.
First, the Status and function.
1. Our lesson type is grammar. This lesson is the second period of this unit. It mainly talks about likes and dislikes in the simple present tense. The grammar is countable nouns and uncountable nouns. It will lay a solid foundation for unit 7. This lesson also tells students to save food and develop a healthy eating habit.
Second, teaching aims.
According to the English curriculum standard(课标), the core competences’ value (核心素养价值观) and the students’ level, I set the teaching aims as follows:
①Knowledge aims: a. students can master words (egg, carrot, chicken, rice and so) and the key sentence patterns about likes and dislikes.
b. Be able to master the change rules of plural forms of countable nouns.
Key words: egg, carrot, chicken, egg and so
Key sentences: Does she like tomatoes
Yes, she does./ No, she doesn’t.
I/We/You/ They like/ don’t like....
He/She likes/ doesn’t like...
①Knowledge and ability(知识与技能):
a. Master new words (rice, egg, carrot, chicken, so).
b. Master the key sentence patterns about likes and dislikes. And enable students to use the key sentences to talk about likes and dislikes.
c. Know the differences between countable and uncountable nouns as well as the change rules of plural forms of countable nouns.
Help students to improve their speaking and writing skills.
②Process and method(过程与方法):
To help students have a better understanding of this class, task-based/communicative/situational teaching method and observation/ summary / self-study / cooperative inquiry/comparison learning method will be adopted.
③Emotional attitude and values(情感态度与价值观):
Help students to develop a good eating habit and cultivate their sense of saving food.Third, teaching important and difficult points.
(1)Teaching important points: Affirmative and negative statements of simple present tense to like and the usage of countable nouns and uncountable nouns
(2) Teaching difficult point: Tell countable nouns from uncountable nouns and know how to use them.
PartⅡ The analysis of students.
Ss in Grade seven are active, but they have learnt English only for a few months, so they can’t express themselves fluently. In unit five, ss have learnt yes or no questions and short answers in the simple present tense. It lays a solid foundation for this period. However, learning grammar is a little difficult and boring, so we have designed some interesting activities to attract students.
Part Ⅲ Teaching methods &learning methods & teaching aids
1. First, teaching methods. In order to make class more active, we used task-based teaching method, communicative teaching method and situational teaching method.
2. Second, learning methods: speaking, writing, summarizing and studying with a group.
3. As for teaching aids, Miss Yan used multimedia, cards, PPt slides and some red flags.( Before class, Miss Yan divided students into …groups, and the red flags are prizes for students.)
Part Ⅳ Teaching steps.
Step 1 Warming up & leading-in.(2 minutes)
. Let’s chant.(Warming up and leading in)

【Purpose: Doing the chant can make students warm and lead into this class.】
Step 2 Revision (play a game).
The teacher plays the drum, ask Ss to say the key sentences according to the pictures.
【Purpose: By playing the game, ss can review yes or no question and their short answers.】

Step 3 Presentation.(new words and the key sentences)
Show some photos of their family members and talk about their likes and dislikes.
Show the pictures: chicken、rice、egg、carrot and the two boys’ photos.
The teacher present the four new words in the affirmative and negative statements.
【TP: By doing so, we can create a real situation to present the new words in the key sentences, and attract their attention to the target languages.】
Step 4 Practice. ( playing a “Clock Game”).
【TP: By playing the “Clock Game”, ss can practice and consolidate the new words in the key sentences. 】
Step 5 Grammar.
Lead in grammar.
Learn about the features of countable nouns, uncountable nouns and both countable and uncountable nouns and their differences..
Lead and help ss to find out and summarize the change rules of countable nouns.
Have a competition. Give ss some food cards and ask them to put them on the right places to crack(突破) the difficult point and then ask ss to do some typical exercises to cnsidate the grammar.

Step 6 Exercises. Finish 3a & 3b and check the answers..

Step 7 Production. (Group work).
Do a survey. Ask your classmates about the food in the chart. Find out what they like and don’t like and give a report.
(PPT present the key words : In our group, I like ... I don’t like ... She/He/** likes ... She/He/** doesn’t like ... We like ... We don’t like ... So we can buy some ...)

Step 8 Emotional education and homework.
a. PPT slides to show our opinion: We should eat healthy food and save food.
b. In the end, we designed some homework to help Ss consolidate what we’ve learned.
Talk about your family’s favorite food. Write a short passage.

My father likes ..., but he doesn’t like ...
My mother likes ..., but she doesn’t like ...
Make fruit salad for your parents..
TP: The second homework is a response for the “double reduction policy”(双减政策),and it is also a good way to show their love to
their parents.

TP: This kind of blackboard design is so clear and vivid that students can get the points easily.
PartⅥ Teaching reflections.
According to the requirements of Core Competences’ Value(核心素养) , the teacher developed the students’ learning and language ability. Students in this class are active; they can use the target language to talk about their likes and dislikes. Most students can tell countable nouns from uncountable nouns. However, they show differences in group work. A small number of students didn’t take an active part in speaking. So we should pay more attention to this kind of students and offer to help them. In this way, we will achieve better teaching effect.
