Her classmate bullied(欺凌)her. Finally, with the disease, classmates’ bullying, and failing to pass courses, she felt really sorrowful and fell into deep depression.
Lucas wanted help but found it difficult to get it when she needed it most. “At that lowest moment in my life, I just wished that I had a button that I could press whenever I was not okay to notice my friends and family that I needed help,” Lucas says. One year later, Hannah’s notOK app was born. “When you press the notOK button, whenever you’re not okay, whatever that means for you, it sends a text to your five most trusted people with a message saying,‘Hey, it’s me, and I’m not okay. Please call me, text me, and come and check up on me,’along with your position.”
“My parents once had a talk with me about college because they didn’t think that I would be able to go,” Lucas says. But her close friends and brother helped her rebuild confidence. British artist Sacha Jafri set the record for creating the world’s largest painting. The painting was sold for $62 million, which Mr. Jafri will give to charity.
Mr. Jafri is a 44-year-old artist from England. Rather than feeling unhappy during COVID-19 because he couldn’t move on, Mr. Jafir decided to create the world’s largest painting. He asked children to send him pictures showing how they were feeling during COVID-19. He got artwork from kids in 140 different countries.
Using the children’s ideas as a starting point, Mr. Jafri began to paint in a huge room for dancing in a hotel. For seven months, he had been working long hours every day — often up to 20 hours a day. He hurt his back by bending over so much while he painted. It took over 6,300 liters of paint to create the painting. When he finished, he set a Guinness World Record for the world’s largest painting. The painting, which is over 1,600 square meters, was around the size of four basketball fields.
Mr. Jafri hoped that his painting, which is called The Journey of Humanity, would help bring the world together during a difficult time. Since Mr. Jafri’s goal was to collect money to help children, the painting was divided into 70 large parts. Mr. Jafri hoped that by selling the parts separately, he could collect $30 million.
But at last, Mr.Jafri did much better than that. He didn’t have to sell the pieces. The whole artwork was sold for $62 million. Andre Abdoune, a French businessman, bought it. Knowing that the money would go to charity helped Mr. Abdoune decide to pay more. He says he was poor when he grew up, so he’d glad to help children around the world by buying the very large painting.
4. What can we learn about the large painting
A. It was created to set a record. B. It took the artist a lot of efforts.
C. It became popular around the world. D. It shows world peace is important.
5. What is most probably Mr. Jafri’s purpose in creating the painting

Ice hockey(冰球)is very popular in Canada. Until the mid-1980s, it was generally accepted that ice hockey developed from English field hockey and Native American lacrosse(长曲棍球). A recent book, however, has even suggested that the sport was born on the frozen ponds of England.
Ice hockey games were first recorded in the 1850s and the sport soon attracted many people’s attention. In 1875, students from McGill University took part in the first recorded public indoor ice hockey match in Montreal’s Victoria Skating Rink, with rules largely borrowed from English field hockey. Two years later, the ice hokey club at McGill University became the first organised team and made the sport’s rules. These included controlling the number of players on each side to nine, which later became six.
The new sport soon caught the eye of the Covernor General of Canada, Frederick Stanley. In 1892, Stanley gave away a prize called the Dominion Challenge Trophy, which was given to the best hockey team in North America. The prize soon became known as the Stanley Cup and since 1926, has been given to the winner of the final game of the National Hockey League (NHL). Then, in 1994, ice hockey had its cultural influence when the Canadian government said that it would be the country’s national winter sport.
During the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century, ice hockey dispersed both geographically and throughout all classes of society. It passed from clubs made up of upper-class men to teams formed among the middle and lower classes.
Now ice hockey is an important part of Canadian national identity and popular with all levels of society, from books like How Hockey Explains Canada and the University of Saskatchewan’s “Hockey in Canadian Literature” course.
8. Which had a key influence on the rules of ice hockey in Canada
A. English field hockey.
B. Native American lacrosse.
C. Games on the frozen ponds of England.
D. The ice hockey club at McGill University.
9. What do we know about Frederick Stanley
A. He made ice hockey a national winter sport.
B. He helped set up a prize for the best hockey team.
C. He organised an ice hockey team in North America.
D. He praised the winner of the final game of the NHL.

A. How ice hockey develops in Canada

Costa Rica lies in Central America, between Nicaragua and Panama. It is best-known for its amazing natural beauty. Visitors can enjoy the country’s natural rainforests, Pacific an Caribbean beaches, as well as many adventure sports there.
Though being a small developing country, Costa Rica has no standing army and its leading the way in sustainability and ecotourism. The country’s tourism model was developed with ecotourism in mind. Costa Rica’s tourist attractions are centered on activities that protect the environment and offer travellers chances to protect the environment.
The Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) developed a country-wide Certification for Sustainable Tourism (CST) back in 1997, which provides tourism companies with ground rules to run their business sustainably. The certification programme educates local companies on the correct use of natural and cultural resources, and provides visitors with an official “CST mark” to recognise sustainable tourism companies, hotels, and attractions. As of 2021, over 400 companies in Costa Rica are sustainably certified, and the programme has even been recognised by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council and the United Nations World Tourism Organisation.
Focusing on long-term sustainability within the tourism industry faced a few risks, for example, by making the country a bit more expensive to visit. In the years since the tourism model’s development, surveys have shown that 63% of United States travellers are more likely to choose destinations trying their best to protect natural resources, while 75% are more likely to choose sustainable destinations.
The protected natural areas in Costa Rica have become an important driving force behind local economy by encouraging ecotourism. It would appear that the country’s action to develop sustainable tourism was a good one.
Why did the ICT develop the CST
To make sure of sustainable development.
To find more natural and cultural resources.
To help companies make more money.
To apple it worldwide in the future.
What did the surveys in Paragraph 4 find out

作文范文:
Dear Manager,
I’m Wang Lin. I am writing to express my disappointment with an unhappy experience of purchasing an English dictionary from your website.
After I received the dictionary, I opened it. Then I found that 20 pages of the dictionary were so illegible that I couldn’t make out the words. Worse still, I found some pages were missing, which caused a lot of inconvenience to me.
Therefore, I wish to exchange it for another one or demand a refund. I hope you can solve this problem soon and make sure this sort of problem doesn’t happen again.
Looking forward to your early reply.
Yours sincerely,
Wang Lin
