Exercise helps to keep us in good health. Doctors at the American Heart Association suggest getting at least 150 minutes of proper physical activity every week. Many people exercise for a few minutes every day or every other day. So, getting 150 minutes every week is easy.
But what about those times when you are sick If you do not feel well, should you keep following your exercise habit Following are the answers from health experts.
Edward R. Laskowski is a doctor at the Mayo Clinic. He and other experts have a general rule about exercising when you are sick. It is usually fine to exercise properly (not hard), he explains, if your symptoms are all “above the neck”. These signs may include a runny nose, sneezing or a sore throat.
Geralyn Coopersmith, a physical fitness trainer who has written several books on exercise offers similar advice. However, both Coopersmith and Dr. Laskowski suggest taking a break from exercising if signs of your illness appears “below the neck”. Pay special attention to symptoms such as chest congestion, bad cough or pain in the stomach.
There are other symptoms that can tell you to avoid exercise. They include a higher than normal body temperature, a sense of feeling very tired, and widespread muscle pain.
Both Coopersmith and Dr. Laskowski suggest listening to your body. If you feel really bad, take a break and let your body rest. If you don’t feel too bad, these experts both suggest cutting down the amount of exercise. For example, if you usually run, take a quick walk instead.
24. How long should people do exercise according to doctors
A. No less than two and a half hours a week. B. One hundred and fifty minutes each day.
C. At least a few minutes every day. D. About 150 minutes every other day.
25. People with symptoms “below the neck” are advised to ______.
A. stop exercise B. walk instead of run C. ignore the symptoms(症状) D. do less exercise
26. What does the underlined part “listening to your body” in the last paragraph mean
A. Taking good care of yourself.
B. Learning to take advice of your body.
C. Listening to music when exercising to keep healthy.
D. Making decisions according to your physical condition.
27. What is the text mainly about
A. Time for exercise when you are ill.
B.Warnings against exercise when you are ill.
C. Harmful results of exercise when you are ill.
D. Professional suggestions on exercise when you are ill.

I am a person who has always loved reading. For me, it is easy to get lost in a book and return to the world a couple of hours later having been on an adventure. As a 6-year-old, I could be found reading Harry Potter, a difficult book for a 6-year-old but I enjoyed it all the same. Now, as a student, it is harder to find the time to read books for pleasure; however, I relish the summers where I have the time to read to satisfy myself. Growing up, it soon became clear that spelling for me was not difficult and I had a wide vocabulary. This is because I began reading from such a young age.
My advice for you as English learners would be to read the books that you have often read in your own language in English. Reading, stories especially, is a great way of improving your vocabulary and spelling without noticing as you are lost in the story. For me, I have read Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in French and am currently reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in Spanish. This is a really useful way of being able to read in another language because I know the story so well in English, it is easy to follow the story in the foreign language even if I do not understand every word.
This is another important point: it is not necessary to understand every word. If you understand the meaning of the sentence, each word is not necessarily important. Sometimes it is impossible to translate directly from one language to another. Quite often, if a word is used several times in a text, you can gain your own meaning from it and it makes much more sense than if you tried to translate it in the first place.
Give it a try. If you like reading you could be opening up a whole new world of literature.
28. What can we learn from the author’s reading experiences
A. He often spent hours taking an adventure.
B. Reading helped him a lot since his early age.
C. He didn’t like Harry Potter any more with aging.
D. He could spare enough time reading for fun as a student.
29. Which of the following can best replace the underlined word “relish” in paragraph 1
A. Spend. B. Lose. C. Enjoy. D. Hate.
30. What suggestion does the author give for learning English
A. Translating word by word.
B. Reading Harry Potter in different languages.
C. Understanding the story in your own language.
D. Reading English stories you’re familiar with in your own language.
31. What can be the best title for the text
A. Better Ways to Read stories.
B. The Benefits of Reading.
C. Is It Necessary to Know Each Word
D. How to Improve Spelling and Vocabulary.

Organic food (有机食品) is very popular. It is also expensive. Some organic food costs twice as much as non organic food. Some parents and pet owners pay up to 200 percent more for organic food while some people think organic food is a waste of money.
There is one main difference between organic and nonorganic food. Organic farms do not use agricultural chemicals, such as pesticides (杀虫剂). This makes sure that the products are natural.
Some people think “organic” means “locally grown”. At the beginning, this was true. Over time organic farming became more difficult. The demand for organic food grew larger than the supply. Small companies had to sell out to large companies. There weren’t enough organic materials. This made it difficult for many organic companies to stay in business. Today, many large companies have an organic line of products.
Is organic food more nutritious (有营养的) This is part of the debate. Many farmers and consumers (消费者) believe it is. They think agricultural chemicals cause health problems, such as cancer. Many health experts disagree. Few studies prove that organic food prevents health problems. Health experts worry more about bacteria (细菌). These can come into contact with organic and non organic food. Doctors recommend washing produce very carefully.
Most people agree that naturally grown food tastes better. Is tastier food worth the extra money This is a matter of opinion. Whether it is healthier or not may require more research. However, organic consumers argue it is better to be safe than sorry.
32. What is probably the major concern(关注) of organic food consumers
A. Price B. Safety. C. Freshness. D. Variety.
33. What is the doctors’ suggestion
A. Grow your own food. B. Reduce the use of pesticides.
C. Make sure the food is clean. D. Buy large companies’ products.
34. Which of the following do most people agree on organic food
A. It tastes better. B. It is easier to grow. C. It contains more fat. D. It is more nutritious.
35. Where does this text probably come from
A. A health magazine. B. A medical report.
C. A chemistry paper. D. A menu of a restaurant.

She looked back at her teacher. Mr. Swales was talking about what people do all day. He also wanted to find out what his students wanted to be when they grew up. He called on Billy first.
“My daddy works in a bank,” Billy said. “ I guess I want to work in a bank too. There’s lots of money in the bank.”
“ My daddy runs a company,” Emmy said. “ My daddy is the big boss. And I want to be a boss, too.”
Jodie liked it when Mr. Swales asked them questions like this. He was about to call on Jodie when the girls in the back row suddenly started laughing. Shirley shouted, “Jodie’s daddy is a garbage man(清洁工 )!” Everyone in the class laughed out loud.
Jodie felt her face turn red.__________________________________________________________

Dear David,
I’m really glad that you asked about sports in my school, and I’m writing to tell you something about it. All the teachers and students take an active part in a sunshine sports program.
There are a wide range of sports, during which I like swimming best. The reason why I like swimming is that I can get close to water, which gives me a sense of freedom. Personally, I think it is a good idea for us senior students to have daily exercise. Taking exercise helps us build up our body and keep a clear mind.
Hopefully, you can take part in daily exercise. Looking forward to your reply.
Yours,
Li Hua
