Frequent goodbyes to her family come hand-in-hand with Wang Yaping’s intensive training. This time, however, her goodbye has sparked joy in her 5-year-old daughter’s eyes as she is “shooting for the stars.”
Known for broadcasting a 40-minute live lesson during her first space trip, she is very likely to draw global attention again during her second space mission.
Wang was born in 1980 to a rural family in Shandong Province. “When I was young, my world was small,” Wang recalled. “My dream was much more simple: to go beyond the village and to pay back all that my parents had given me.”
Her space dream started in 2003 when China sent Yang Liwei into space. “I watched the bright rocket flame on TV, and an idea flashed through my mind: China now has a male taikonaut, when will there be a female one ” Wang said. After racking up safe flights for 1,600 hours over nine years, Wang became a strong candidate (候选人) for China’s first flight by a female taikonaut. However, she did not pass her final tests. Wang did not lose heart but pushed forward even harder. She always ran three laps more than others in physical courses; she volunteered to be held to the same standards as her male partners during desert survival training, and she asked to train in the pressure chamber for an extra 30 minutes each time. “You can’t catch a break simply for being a woman,” she said.
Her efforts were not in vain. Wang became a crew member of the Shenzhou-10 space mission in 2013. And more notably, she earned the title of China’s first space teacher after giving a lecture to students from an orbit more than 300 km above the Earth’s surface.
Liu Cixin, China’s famous sci-fi writer and Hugo Award winner, said Wang’s lesson was like a “brush,” which painted a space world for children that is different from Earth.

A. She is the first Chinese woman to enter space.
B. She went to space just for a lecture in 2013.

Agricultural scientists in Switzerland have demonstrated the long-term effect of organic farming methods. Organic farms use no man-made chemicals to increase crops or control insects and disease. The study showed that organic fields produced fewer crops, on average, than other fields. However, the scientists say the organic methods improved the health of the soil and used half as much energy.
The Swiss scientists compared the effects of organic and traditional farming methods over a period of more than twenty years. They grew crops on four fields of land in Switzerland. Two fields were grown using traditional farming methods. The others were grown using organic farming methods. The crops and soil use were similar in all the fields studied.
The study found that the organic fields produced about 20% fewer crops than the other fields. However, the farmers used less fertilizer and energy on the organic fields. They found the organic fields were healthier.
The scientists say the organic fields had more nutrients in the soil. The soils in the organic fields also had more biological activity than the other fields. The organic fields had more helpful organisms and a larger number of different organisms. The organic fields had almost two times as many insects, including helpful insects. In traditional farming, chemicals designed to kill harmful insects also kill helpful ones.
The researchers say the findings show that organic crop production rates change little over time, and that soil fertility increases. They say the finds suggest that organic farmers can help the environment by increasing soil fertility.
Organic farming is becoming increasingly popular in some countries. Many people believe that eating organic food is more healthful than eating food grown with chemicals. Some people are willing to pay more money to buy organic food.
8. What does the study show about the organic methods
A. They have more output than other fields.
B. They benefit the health of the human and the soil.
C. They use more energy than traditional ones.
D. They can control diseases without using any chemicals.
9. In what way do the researchers carry out the experiment
A. Selecting the best seeds. B. Using the latest technology.
C. Applying different methods. D. Planting crops in special soils.
10. What does paragraph 4 mainly talk about concerning organic fields
A. Its strengths. B. Its products.
C. Its application. D. Its shortage.
11. What can we infer from the text
A. No insects exist in organic fields.
B. Organic farming is environment-friendly.
C. People can’t afford organic food at present.
D. Organic crop production rate increases rapidly.
【答案】8. B 9. C 10. A 11. B

The American Academy of Pediatrics has warned about the potential negative effects of social media on young kids and teens. But the same risks may be true for adults. A review study suggests addiction symptoms (症状), such as failure to pay attention to personal life and escapism, appear to be present in some people who use Facebook excessively (过度).
A study also shows when people stop using the Internet, they also go through small but measurable physical effects. Rather than improving health, as frequent interactions (互动) with offline social networks do, the findings show that interacting with Facebook may predict the opposite result for young adults—it may undermine it.
In fact, another study found that social media use is linked to greater feelings of social isolation (隔离), mentally and physically. We fall into the trap of comparing ourselves to others as we check our Facebook pages. The study looked at how we make comparisons with others’ posts, in “upward” or “downward” directions—that is, feeling that we are either worse or better off than our friends. It turned out that both types of comparisons made people feel worse, which is surprising, since in real life, only upward comparisons make people feel bad. But in the social network world, it seems that any kind of comparison is linked to depressive symptoms.
All of this is not to say that there is no benefit of social media—obviously it keeps us connected across great distances, and helps us find people we had lost touch with years ago. But visiting social networks when you have some time to kill is very likely a bad idea. If you are feeling brave, try taking a little break, and see how it goes. And if you are going to keep “using” it, then at least try to use it reasonably.
12. What might researchers think about “using Facebook excessively”
A. It’s problem behavior.
B. It’s costly and time-consuming.
C. It’s sometimes a solution to social isolation.
D. It’s leading people to become imaginative.
13. What does the underlined word “undermine” in paragraph 2 probably mean
A. Present. B. Destroy.
C. Check. D. Ensure.
14. What’s the finding of the study mentioned in paragraph 3
A. Social media are being given too much importance.
B. Young Facebook users feel more isolated than their elders.
C. All kinds of comparisons on social media upset people.
D. Downward comparisons link closer to depression than upward ones.
15. What is the main idea of the text
A. Social media affect people’s mental health.
B. Comparing ourselves with others may lead to depression.
C. Social networks have more advantages than disadvantages.
D. Nowadays people tend to turn to the Internet for satisfaction.
【答案】12. A 13. B 14. C 15. A

But in Korea, it’s not allowed. ____18____ For Chinese, it is to say “someone will be killed”. For Americans, it shows “I’m full”.

For an Arab, it’s good manners to stand close to his friend when they are talking, but for English people, they don’t like to be close to one another. And in parts of Asia, you mustn’t sit with your foot pointing at another person.
All above show that it is important to know the meaning of gestures and movements in foreign country. Foreigners should follow these customs and learn their culture. ____20____ I think that it is important in our lives to show and learn body language.

第二节(满分25分)
47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I have already forgotten the name of that old lady. Yet I still remember the matter as if it happened yesterday. It is she who teaches me a lesson in forgiveness.
It happened when I was twelve years old. That summer holiday, I planned to earn some pocket money by delivering the newspaper in our neighborhood. And she was a customer on my paper route. She was a kind lady and every time I gave her the paper, she would give me some cookies.
On a mindless Saturday afternoon, a friend and I were throwing rocks onto the roof of the old lady’s house from a quiet spot in her backyard. The purpose of our play was to observe how the rocks changed to missiles (导弹) as they rolled to the roof’s edge and shot out into the yard like comets (彗星) falling from the sky.
I found myself a perfectly smooth rock and sent it for a ride. The stone was too smooth, however, so it slipped from my hand as I let it go. Seeing it headed straight for a small window on the old lady’s back porch (门廊), we stood there, numb with fear. The sound of broken glass awoke us from the fear and the next second, we ran away from the old lady’s yard faster than any of our missiles flowing off her roof.
After coming back home, I was so scared of getting caught that I dared not go out that whole afternoon. I stayed at home, glancing at my front yard nervously from time to time, feeling that lady would knock at our door at any time. But until I went to bed, what I was afraid didn’t happen. Lying in bed, I wondered whether she didn’t discover the broken window or she didn’t discover who had done it That was a sleepless night.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
The next morning, I delivered the paper to her as usual.

After three weeks, I earned seven dollars and put them in an envelope.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】Paragraph1:
The next morning, I delivered the paper to her as usual. On the way to her home, so nervous was I that I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. But to my surprise, I saw the broken glass had been repaired and she didn’t mention it. When I handed her the paper, she still greeted me and gave me some cookies as usual. Holding these cookies in my hand, a feeling of guilt swept over me and I determined that I would save my paper delivery money to make up for the broken window.
Paragraph 2:
After three weeks, I earned seven dollars and put them in an envelope. I secretly put it through the letter box in her door. After doing this, I suddenly felt in relief. The next day, I handed the old lady her paper and thanked her for the bag of cookies. When I opened the bag, I was stunned. Inside were the seven dollars and a short note that said, “I’m proud of you.” She knew it was me. But instead of blaming and punishing me, she chose to forgive me. Even so many years later, she is still deeply engraved in my mind, who taught me a valuable lesson in my life.

C Social networks have more advantages than disadvantages.
D. Nowadays people tend to turn to the Internet for satisfaction.
