So how did he do it Well, he ran slowly at first. Ten hours a day to begin with and, as he got fitter, he got faster. In the end he was finishing in just over five hours. But fitness alone was not enough. What was more important was the fact that Eddie Izzard wanted to make a difference to other peopled lives. Magical box
In the 1994 film Forrest Gump, there’s a famous saying, “Life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you're gonna get.” The surprise is part of the fun. Now blind box toys are bringing the magic of surprise to online shopping.
A blind box toy is hidden inside uniform packaging (统一的包装)and cannot be seen from the outside. You don't know what will be inside, although the toys typically come from pop culture, ranging from movies to comics and cartoons.
Blind boxes have caught on since they were first introduced from Japan to China in 2014. According to a 2019 Tmall (天猫)report, the mini-series of Labubu blind box, designed by Hong Kong-born Kasing Lung, was named Champion of Unit Sales with 55,000 sold in just 9 seconds during the Singles Day shopping event. Most customers for these magical mystery (神秘)boxes arc young people aged 18 to 35.
According to the report, blind box toys arc popular partly because of their cute appearances. The typically cute cartoon figurines (小 塑 像)conic in very small sizes, making them suitable for display almost anywhere. There is another main reason why people buy blind boxes one after another. "Fear of the unknown is always a part of the box-opening process,” said Miss Cao, 24, who loves buying blind boxes. Speaking to Sina News, she said, “Until you open all the boxes, you cannot know what it is inside.”
Opening a blind box is a delightful little surprise for our boring daily lives, something small but fun to wait for each day, week or month. When people open this simple little box, they may be disappointed, but the uncertainly is part of the fun. People will open more blind boxes and hope for a belter outcome.
When someone remakes the film Forrest Gump, don't be surprised if he says, “Life is like a blind box ..."
29. What can we learn about blind boxes
A. People buy blind boxes when they feel bored.
B. The toys in blind boxes come from pop culture.
C. Blind boxes are designed by a Hong Kong artist.
D. All of blind boxes were sold out on Nov. 1l, 2019.
30. What feature of blind boxes attracts people most

C. Professional design。 D. Mystery and uncertainty.
31. What is the passage mainly about

C. The popularity of blind boxes. D. The cultural effects of blind boxes.
D
Certainly, a well-rounded(全面的) education is the foundation(基础)from which all of us spring forth. I am grateful to the many great teachers who have inspired me to do greater things, and have fired my enthusiasm(热 情)for everlasting learning!
But, sometimes I wonder if the outline of our educational plan is lacking (缺少)something. I watched the movie Easy A with my daughter. The main character's parents were loving, supportive, and built great confidence in their children and developed their ability to handle their own problems.
There was a scene where the mother was speaking to the younger child who announced that he received an "A" on his spelling test. She replied, "That's great, honey, but everything has. spell check these days. "It was funny…. but TRUE! I don't mean that we shouldn't teach our children how to spell, but maybe some of our time should be spent educating them about the dangers of posting things on Facebook. Maybe we might want to spend time showing them how real life works—the credit card(信用卡)isn't free money—you will have to pay it back at sometime. Oh, and get this—they charge you for borrowing that money. Perhaps, we should spend some time on interpersonal relationships. I worry that our kids do not know how to relate to one another.
Choosing a career(职业)is a daunting task. My daughter is in her second year in college and has changed her major(主修课程)twice. It's not that she didn't know what she wanted to do. What she "wanted to do" and the course she chose did not match.
I have learned many college students do not know what they want to do because they haven't seen what it looks like in the real world. Being a journalist (记者)in the real world looks very different from writing stories. Maybe if we spent some time exposing them to real life experience—maybe two or three courses in areas of interest in high school that give them a feel "for what that particular field would look like, they might be better prepared. I do not know the solution, but it seems that it should at least be a topic of discussion.
32. Why does the author mention the movie Easy A
A. To share the movie with readers.
B. To show parents' love for their children.
C. To lead to the topic he is going to talk about.
D. To prove the importance of being supportive.
33. The author believes that__________________.
A. parents and school should work together
B. there is no need for students to learn spelling
C. children are able to handle their own problems
D. it is important to help students understand real world
34. The underlined word "daunting" in Paragraph 4 probably means _____________.
A. special B. discouraging C. unimportant D. simple
35. What is mainly discussed in the passage
A. Schools should prepare students for their future life.
B. Foundation is important for a well-rounded education.
C. Life experience is more important than school education.
D. Students should take part-time jobs to get working experience.
第二节 (共7小题;第36-39小题每小题1分, 第 40-42小题每小题2分, 共10分)
阅读短文, 完成下列任务。
Life is about chances, creating them and embracing them, and for me, that was the Olympic dream. As a member of the Australian ski team heading towards
the Winter Olympics, I was on a training bike ride. It was a perfect autumn day. I looked up to see the sun shining in my face. Suddenly everything went black. I was hit by a truck. I was badly hurt. I broke my neck and my back in six places. I was paralyzed from the waist (腰)down. The doctor said, "Janine, you'll have to rethink about your life, because you're never going to be able to do the things you did before. "
Six months later, I got home. I had no feeling from the waist down. I couldn't walk. I had to use a catheter(导尿管)for the rest of my life. All of those totally depressed me. All I wanted was to give up.
Maybe being at rock bottom is actually the perfect place to start.
One day, sitting at home in my wheelchair, I saw an airplane fly overhead. I looked up and thought to myself, "That's it! If I can't walk, I might as well fly. "So I went to a flying school and a man named Andrew started to train me. People there used to look at me and think, "Oh, who is she kidding She's never going to be able to do this. "But that didn't matter, because there was something inside me burning, which far outweighed my injuries.
Little goals kept me going along the way, and eventually I got my private pilot's license(飞行执照)and became a pilot. Then I taught other people how to fly, just within 18 months after I'd left the hospital.
Then I knew for certain that although my body might be limited, my spirit was unstoppable.

In my opinion, the Internet helps friendships. Firstly, the Internet makes communication much more convenient. Secondly, the Internet makes communication more interesting. Sharing photos and videos with friends online or responding to messages with emojis has so much fun. Thirdly, online communication brings friends closer to each other. Nowadays, your friends are just a click away. When you-need help, your friends can immediately provide suggestions.
