Eating the wrong foods at the wrong time can not only make you fatter, hungrier, and more easily annoyed, but it can also damage your memory , creativity , energy, and more. How should we fuel up for our toughest everyday life challenges
During a long day of shopping
What to eat: Steel-cut oatmeal(钢切燕麦片),egg whites, fruit, and nuts.
Why: Starting off any long day with a good breakfast is key. Christopher Hollingsworth, a surgeon at NYC Surgical Associates, adds that having multiple(数量多的)small meals (compared to three large meals) is also key. “ A large meal can really slow you down and make you feel tired during a long day of shopping. Take snacks frequently for quick hits of energy."
For a brainstorming class
What to eat: Wild blueberries
Why:“Wild blueberries are perfect to have before a brainstorming class as they have been shown to improve memory concentration ,and performance , all of which are important when it comes to having a sharp mind and allowing the creative juices to follow," said The Nutrition Twins. New research also suggests that wild blueberries help fight Alzheimer(阿尔茨海默病),a disease that can significantly cloud creativity.
Before a big meeting
What to eat: Tea with a little bit of milk
Why:“Green and black tea contain the amino acid theanine(氨基酸茶氨酸),which passes the blood-brain barrier to bring on a mental calmness and reduce anxiety, making it the perfect choice before an important meeting," said The Nutrition Twins.“Additionally, the right amount of caffeine(咖啡因)in the tea will provide a mental strength without causing anxiety. Add little bit of milk to the tea and the calcium in the milk will help to relax the muscles as well."

You might be surprised to learn that small everyday gestures in Western culture may be regarded as rude and ignorant (无知的) ones in other cultures.
In China and Japan, kissing is not usual as a greeting, while countries such as the USA, Australia and the UK have yet to see men kissing as a greeting. A welcoming kiss on both cheeks with the same sex is a matter of course in many regions (地区) especially around the Mediterranean, North Africa and the Middle East.
In the Western world, handshakes between men and women are of course the most widespread form of greeting. In a strict Muslim culture, kissing a woman in public, especially if she is unmarried, would not be acceptable. A man would only shake hands with a woman if she offered him her hand first. In Muslim and Hindu society, the left hand is considered unclean, so practices such as handshaking and eating are only ever performed with the right hand.
Bowing can vary (变化) between different cultures and regions. The way you bow depends on the social situation and the reason why you are bowing. In the countries like Japan, China and South Korea, bowing shows respect for elders and those in authority (权威). In the Western world, direct eye contact is seen as a sign of strength and interest. But in many Asian countries it is regarded as rude, so there is no direct eye contact when bowing.
A Chinese person may not realize that a British person would consider spitting in public as very bad manners, and a British person may not think that making the "OK" sign in Brazil would be seen as highly offensive (冒犯的).
If you intend to travel abroad, a little effort in understanding other cultures can prove invaluable for a successful and enjoyable experience.
24.What's this passage mainly about
A. Customs and cultures.
B. Western culture and Eastern culture.
C. Different body language from different cultures.
D. The influence of social customs on people's lives.
25.Who in North Africa will usually kiss each other as a greeting when they meet
A. Two women. B. The teenagers.
C. The elders. D. A child and his parents.
26.What is regarded as unacceptable for some British people
A. Bowing. B. Kissing.
C. Spitting in public. D. Making the "OK" sign.
27.What does the underlined word "invaluable" in the last paragraph probably mean
A. Easy. .B. Difficult. C. Useless. D. Useful.

How to get past a tough situation
Sometimes it really hurts being in a situation you have no control of. Regardless of the tough issues you may face, it's getting back up and moving forward that counts the most when you need to deal with hardship. 36 .
Write or talk about how you feel
Keeping my feelings to myself used to make me feel lonely, but when I found someone who actually cared about me. it became natural to share how I felt with him, which contributed to my ability to overcome troublesome situations. 37 . Although talking to strangers about your issues may seem crazy, it actually isn't.
38
It is said that running away from your problems will never help, and though that's partially true, it doesn't mean that you need to make yourself go so deeply into a situation that you run out of air to breathe and lose the ability to weigh the pros and cons of your choices. That happens more than we like to admit, which is why it's important to separate yourself from a situation long enough to think clearly without having people hanging over your shoulders.
Remind yourself that you're not alone
Regardless of who or what you depend on, you need to remind yourself that you are not alone; you have people who do care. 39 .Sometimes it's strangers who may share the same feelings as you do. Think about it-you may not know any of these readers personally but they could be in the exact same situation as you, so in fact, no one is truly alone.
Accept the results and get back up again
40 . Whether the results of your choices proved to be helpful or not, it's time for you to accept them and get back up. This time you have a new experience to add to your book of life so the next time something tries to knock you down, it won't be easy because you will be strong and determined to push forward. Life will go on, time will never stand still , and it rests upon you to make the right decision of moving forward .
A. Separate yourself from the situation.
B. Tell yourself to accept the hardship.
C. All in all. remember that life is short
D. Finally, it's time to accept what has happened
E. Not only did I speak to him about how I felt, but I decided to blog about it
F. Here are some things I've tried just to help me believe in a brighter future and
get over a tough situation.
G. Even if it's just one person, that's enough to give you reason to remind yourself that you will never truly be alone

Good Eating Habits and Health
In current society, people have known the importance of keeping healthy and good eating habits.
In the past, people ate three meals at home, having more vegetables and less meat. They were in good health, seldom falling ill.Now life is better, and people eat more meat, fish, eggs, absorbing more nutrients. And they often go out for good meals with their families and friends. But they are more likely to get sick and go to the doctors more frequently. So in order to keep healthy, we'd better eat more vegetables but less meat and junk food.
The better we get into good eating habits, the happier our life will become

Since the age of seven, Tom Daley has devoted his life to diving. His father had encouraged him to take up the sport. And from there he has seldom looked back, breaking records and winning competitions at various levels ever since. One day, in September 2002, when casually taking diving lessons, Daley was spotted by a famous coach in the sport. Within a year, he had won a silver medal at the National Novice Championships. In 2007, Daley finished runner-up in the British Championships in the Men's Platform. Aged just 14 years and 81 days, Daley became the second youngest male ever to represent Britain at the Olympics. He competed at the 2008 Beijing Games. At the 2010 Commonwealth Games, he took home gold medals in the 1Om Individual Platform competition. Going into 2012, despite some occasions where it looked like he would go home disappointed, Daley ultimately dealt with the pressure in an accomplished manner and emerged with a bronze medal. As everyone knows, It wasn't by any means an easy path to success for the talent. Tom says, "Every time I go to another Olympics, I feel like I’ve got that more experiences. So Rio 2016 felt like an amazing time for me. It was a little bit more relaxed. Now it's time to focus on the things we've learned going forward from here to try, for the next years to be the best we can be."
