Walk through the Amazon rainforest today and you will find it steamy, warm, damp and thick. But if you had been there around 15,000 years ago, during the last ice age, would it have been the same For more than 30 years, scientists have been arguing about how rainforests might have reacted to the cold, dry climate of the ice ages, but till now, no one has reached a satisfying answer.
Rainforests like the Amazon are important for mopping up CO2 from the atmosphere and helping to solve global warming.Currently the trees in the Amazon take in around 500 million tons of CO2 each year: equal to the total amount of CO2 given off in the UK each year. But how will the Amazon react to the future climate change If it gets drier, will it survive and continue to draw down CO2 Scientists hope that they will be able to learn in advance how the rainforest will manage in the future by understanding how rainforests reacted to climate change in the past.
Unfortunately, collecting information is incredibly difficult. To study the past climate, scientists need to look at fossilized pollen (花粉) kept in lake mud.Going back to the last ice age means drilling down into lake sediments (沉淀物), which requires specialized equipment and heavy machinery .There are very few roads and paths, or places to land helicopters and aeroplanes.Rivers tend to be the easiest way to enter the forest, but this still leaves vast areas between the rivers completely unsampled (未取样).So far, only a handful of cores have been drilled that go back to the last ice age and none of them provide enough information to prove how the Amazon forest reacts to climate change.
1.How do scientists study the past climate change
A.By predicting the climate change in the future.
B.By drilling down deep into land sediments.
C.By taking samples from rivers in the Amazon.
D.By analyzing fossilized pollen in lake mud.
2.What is needed for drilling down into lake sediments
A.The latest helicopter.
B.The special equipment.
C.The light machinery.
D.The narrow path.
3.What is the purpose of writing the passage
A.To attract more people's attention to CO2.
B.To call on people to protect rainforests.
C.To inform people of how scientists work on rainforests.
D.To warn people to stay away from the danger of rainforests.

Although many online personality tests are fun, only a few will really give you insight into who you are and what you are supposed to be doing with your life.
At we believe that each individual (个人),regardless of (不管)race or religion, has a purpose in life, and until you discover what your purpose is, you will not find true happiness, nor true job satisfaction.
This doesn't mean you won't be successful. It just means you won't be happy until you are moving towards your true purpose.
Unfortunately, our school system does very little to help students discover their true career. This is where online personality tests and career tests can help.
Online personality tests and career tests can help you better understand what type of work you should be doing to achieve job satisfaction, happiness, and success.
Personality tests are most useful in giving you insight into “how” your personality compares to others and “how” you like to work.
In particular, if you frequently experience difficulty working with others, or getting their support and cooperation, a really good personality test would show you how to get along better.
While personality tests are very useful at showing you how you like to work and how you like your work environment, they are not really designed to show you “what” type of work is right for you.
That is where Career Interest Tests come in.Online Career Tests, such as the offers will help you discover what your true interests are, and what type of work you will be passionate about.
But back to personality tests. The most well established personality tests are the Myers Briggs Type Indicator R, and the Enneagram.

As globalization continues to make the world a smaller place, and goods become more accessible across borders, concerns about food safety in the Asia Pacific region have steadily risen over the years. An APEC forum is being held in Beijing,to find ways to better address the problem.
156 participants from 19 APEC economies and 4 non APEC members attended the APEC Food Safety Cooperation Forum, which has been actively looking for ways to strengthen food safety standard in the region, without affecting trade.
“As consumers are faced with more varieties of food, the potential food safety risk also becomes bigger. This forum has helped APEC economies to cooperate in supervision (监督),exchange information, and improve the overall food safety standard in the Asia Pacific region,” said director of China's General Administration of Quality Supervision Wu Qinghai.
For the first time the forum has brought together high level regulators, academics, and industry stakeholders to talk about their respective roles in safety supervision. They say governments alone cannot shoulder this heavy duty.
In China, the continuous food safety problems have greatly hurt consumers' confidence in domestic products;therefore more turned to imports. However, problems related to quality of those imported goods also began to show.In July this year, more than 400 batches (批) of food imported from 35 countries and regions were found substandard by the country's top quality supervisor.

第二节 概要写作(25分)
阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。
Humankind has tried to improve its standard of living since the very beginning of civilization.Back then, as well as today, providing food and security was the basic task for a person. However, nowadays the range of required goods has expanded greatly.People feel the need for not only some primary things, such as a piece of bread and a roof over their heads, but also for various facilities and luxuries(奢侈品).Providing humanity with these things is connected to the use of natural resources, which requires energy. The problem is that the common sources of energy we use today cause pollution, so economic growth is almost unavoidably associated with environmental damage.
There are certain aspects of economic growth which affect the environment. One of these is the fact that in order to produce more goods and products, the construction of large industrial plants is required. These plants produce a lot of waste, leading to the pollution of water and the atmosphere, which may cause negative long term health effects to nearby populations of animals, or people.
Industrial manufacturing leads to the constantly increasing energy consumption. The traditional energy sources, which are commonly used nowadays, are considered to be the greatest polluters to the environment. There also exist so called eco friendly sources of energy. They are sometimes preferred but replacing the traditional sources with them also requires time, during which people have to make some sacrifices(牺牲) to support these undertakings. What's more, to produce economically practical energy, people unavoidably have to transform the natural site. This is expensive and, has harmful effects on the environment. For example, application of wind energy would block air flows' natural speed, which is the reason for their decrease in strength after crossing the windmill.Consequently, the pressure balance that is brought about by this current will be affected, and it is important to remember that the environment and weather conditions are directly affected by atmospheric pressure.
For these reasons, bringing about economic growth without any resulting environmental damage, whatsoever, is impossible.

What Can We Do for Our School
Hello, everyone. It's nice to speak about what we can do for our school, and I think each of us can do something.
The first thing we can do is to make our campus more beautiful.Every one of us may plant a tree in the school. We can also form a good habit of putting the rubbish in the trashcan. The second thing we can do is to protect the facilities in our school. When we leave the classroom, we should never forget to turn off the light or close the door.We should not leave the tap water running.
If everyone does one thing for our school, I believe we will turn our school into a better place to study and live in.
Thank you for listening!
