Two years ago, about a 1 after Samantha was born, Glenda and Raphael Savitz learned their daughter was 2 . When Jayce Crowder was in kindergarten, he was sad that he looked different from his classmates. They had two hands. He had one.

"It started when one boy teased him," said his mother, Cortney Lewis. Jayce's enthusiasm 1 . Last year I ruined my summer vacation by bringing along a modern convenience: the iPad.

William Weaver was one of 14 black students integrating(使融入) the all-white West High School. A teacher told him that he "didn't belong here". He had a test and the teacher 1 him and then just took the paper away and said, "Time is up." The first report card he got was 2 F's. Steve was a seventh grader, a big boy, looking more like a teenager than a 12-year-old. Yet, he went unnoticed—he had been 1 every examination since first grade—until Miss Wilma appeared.
