Dr. Josefina has recently published a book, Vibrant at Any Age, based on her lifelong journey of self-improvement. Josefina, 71, is glad she didn't think about her age when she took up bodybuilding at age 59.
“I reinvent myself every ten years, and so I started my 60s as a bodybuilder and now I begin my 70s as a writer,” she said, “People limit themselves by age, which is very frustrating (沮丧). Age is a mindset.”
Dr. Josefina started bodybuilding at an age when most are considering retirement, though she was an athlete from an early age. As a child in Venezuela she took to gymnastics and later graduated with a physical education degree. She taught at Latin High School in Cambridge, for 16 years, while raising two daughters.
“I started bodybuilding when I met Steve Pfiester, a gym guy who knew I ran and practiced yoga. He invited me to his gym and offered to train me”, she said.
Dr. Josefina's photos are proof that she spends long hours taking care of her body. But she also develops her mind and spirit. On any given day, she gets up at 3:00 am to read books. At 4:30 am she's out of the door to walk three miles and run another three. This is followed by yoga and a swim at the beach while the sun rises. After writing in her journal and working on her book between 8 and 10 am, Dr. Josefina hits the gym for at least two hours.
Dr. Josefina's war on ageism has rubbed off on her two daughters both in their early thirties. “They both take care of their bodies and minds. They're very proud of me. If you give them a good foundation as a parent, you know that they will always come back to their roots. I tried to remind myself of that during their difficult teen years.”

Marcus Eriksen was studying plastic pollution when he met camel expert Ulrich Wernery. He went deep into the desert and spotted a camel skeleton(骨架).Eriksen was not prepared for what he saw in the desert. It was just appalled," he said. “Inside the camel's body was a mass as big as a medium-sized suitcase, all plastic bags. "
Wernery is a scientist working in a research lab in Dubai. Since 2008. Wernery’s team has examined 30,000 dead camels. Of these, 300 had guts packed with plastic. As camels wander in the desert, they eat plastic bags and other trash that drift into trees and pile up along roadsides. "To a camel, if it’s not sand, it's food," explains Eriksen.
Tightly packed masses of indigestible things can build up in the gut of people or animals. Scientists call them bezoars(胃石). Normally, these are made of vegetable fibers or hair. Wernery and Eriksen call those found in the camels “polybezoars”. It points to their origin: plastic polymers.
A bezoar can be dangerous. As it fills the stomach. an animal may stop eating. No longer feeling hungry, they might starve to death. Plastic can also release harmful chemicals. The polybezoars may even carry bacteria that can poison camels.
In a new study, Eriksen and Wernery report data suggesting that each year these polybezoars are killing off around 1 in every 100 of camels. Of five camel bezoars analyzed for this study, the plastic content ranged from 3 to 64 kilograms. "If 1 percent mortality(死亡率)due to plastic is confirmed by future and more detailed studies, then plastic pollution will certainly represent a reason of concern for camels." says Luca Nizzetto. an environmental scientist. Such studies are important, he says, because they "raise social awareness about this pollution”.
Banning plastic bags and single-use plastics is crucial for protecting camels and other wildlife, Eriksen says. “Plastic bags are escape artists. They blow out of garbage cans, out of landfills and out of people's hands. ” What's more, he adds, “They travel for hundreds of miles.”
28. What does the underlined word “appalled” in paragraph 1 most probably mean
A. Ashamed. B. Shocked. C. Confused. D. Annoyed.
29. Why do camels eat plastics according to Eriksen
A. They mistake them for food. B. They have to survive on them.
C. They find them very delicious. D. They are surrounded by them.
30. What can be known about “polybezoars”?
A. They make camels feel hungry.
B. They consist of vegetable fibers.
C. They are rare poisonous bacteria.
D. They may carry bacteria that can poison camels.
31. What does Luca Nizzetto think of camel-plastic studies
A. They can certainly lead to the ban on plastics.
B. They can educate people on plastic pollution.
C. They are quite simple but offer enough details.'
D. They are very convincing but less inspirational.

The United States is "neck- and- neck" with China in the race to develop an effective coronavirus vaccine, Johns Hopkins University health policy and management professor Dr. Marty Makary told "Special Report" Wednesday. "There are 70 vaccines in different stages of development," said Makary, a Fox News contributor. "There are seven that are being given in patients right now. We're sort of neck- and-neck with China - we've got three, they've got three."
Makary added that the Chinese vaccines "are actually in further stages of development. Their drugs are in phase two or three, and it's a real race. The country that gets there first will have a significant advantage because they will control the supply for the rest of the world and the risk is if we aren't there first, we could get locked out." The professor concluded that the search for a vaccine was "moving along," but added that "it will probably take a year" before such a treatment becomes widely available.
Earlier Wednesday, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the government's top infectious-disease expert and a member of President Trump's coronavirus task force, touted(吹捧)the drug remdesir(瑞德西韦) for its "clear-cut significant positive effect in reducing the time to recovery," as reflected in new data. Makary said that while the National Institutes of Health study shows only a 31 percent reduction rate in recovery time, it could prove to be significant. "One thing to remember," Makary cautioned about remdesivir, "it's not a silver bullet." It reduces the severity and probably increases recovery but also, this is an IV(静脉注射) medication, it's not something you can go to the pharmacy(药房) tonight and pick up." In the U.S., remdesivir is still awaiting regulatory approval as a coronavirus treatment, but Makary said it is likely to receive emergency authorization from the Food and Drug Administration "as early as this evening”.
32. What does the underlined word “neck-and-neck" mean
A. work together. B. be friends. C. at the same level. D.be enemies.
33. What is American's challenge according to Makary's statement
A. Use vaccines to save more people.
B. Give patients more vaccines for treatment.
C. Develop effective vaccines before China does.
D. Work with China to develop vaccines.
34. What can we know about remdesivir
A. It can reduce the time to recovery.
B. People can't purchase it easily in drug stores.
C. It has been used as a coronavirus treatment.
D. It has a significant effect in treating coronavirus.

Nowadays, a great number of people, especial young people, enjoy order meals online. It’s not surprised. First, as the pace of modern life is becoming faster and faster, people have less time to cook even one meal for them. Second, the development of technology brought us smart phones and new apps, what may lead to the increase in online service. Therefore, we should pay more attention to food. As it is known to all, our health is closely related to what we eat. Although the service provides us with convenience, we must take the food safety onto consideration. Home-made food is cleaner and healthier, so I prefer cook food at home rather than order meals online.

作文范文:
A role model to learn from
A role model for me to learn from is Tu Youyou, a researcher in medicine, who has a positive influence on my growth.
I read about her winning the Nobel Prize in a magazine, which was inspiring to me. What impressed me most was that she and the team examined over 2000 old medical texts and 280, 000 plants. Having failed numerous times, they finally succeeded. Later, they even tested on themselves to make sure of safety!
I am so moved by her scientific spirit that I am determined to brave the challenges and try different ways to solve my problems. I learn from her that only with devotion and persistence can I overcome difficulties and make a contribution to the society.
