One of the easiest things in the world is to become a fault-finder. However, life can be great when you are not busy finding fault with it.
Several years ago I received a letter from seventeen-year-old Kerry, who described herself as a world-class fault-finder, almost always 1 by things. Unfortunately, it took a horrible accident to change her 3 . Her best friend was seriously hurt in a car crash. What made it almost impossible to deal with was that the day before the 4 , Kerry had visited her friend and had spent the whole time criticizing her 5 of boyfriends, the way she was living, the way she related to her mother, and various other things she felt she needed to 6 . It wasn't until her friend was badly hurt that Kerry became 7 her habit of finding fault. Very quickly, she learned to appreciate life rather than to 8 everything so harshly(刻薄). Perhaps most of us aren't as extreme at fault-finding, 9 when we're honest, we can be sharply 10 of the world. I'm not suggesting you 11 problems, or that you pretend things are 12 than they are, but simply that you learn to allow things to be as they are— 13 most of the time, and especially when it's not a really big 14 .
Train yourself to "bite your tongue", and with a little 15 , you'll get really good at letting things go. And when you do, you'll get back your enthusiasm and love for life.

A recent study shows that more years of school could help students get higher scores on intelligence tests. That was the finding of a study of teenage males in Norway. Now, other research shows that 1 activity may help students do better in their classes.
The research comes as educators in some countries are reducing time for activities like physical education. They are using the time instead for 2 subjects like math and reading.
Researchers at VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam 3 the results of fourteen studies, which included more than fifty-five thousand children, aged between six and eighteen.
Researcher Amika Singh says the studies showed a(n) 4 between physical activity and scores on subjects such as math, English and reading. "Based on the results of our study we can conclude that being physically active is 5 for academic performance. "
Ms. Singh 6 some possible explanations. There are, first, physiological explanations, like more blood flow, and so more oxygen to the brain. Being physically 7 means there are more hormones produced like endorphins(内啡肽). And endorphins make your stress level lower and your mood improved, which means you also 8 better. ”
Also, students 9 organized sports learn rules and how to follow them. This could improve their classroom 10 and help them keep their mind on their work.
The study 11 some questions unanswered, however. Ms. Singh says it is not possible to say whether the amounts or kinds of activity 12 the level of academic improvement. This is because of differences among the studies.
Also, they were mostly observational studies. An observational study is where researchers do not do controlled comparisons. They only describe what they observe(观察). So they might observe a connection that students who are more active often have better grades. But that does not 13 mean being active was the cause of those higher grades. Therefore, more high-quality studies are needed to 14 their findings.
Still, the general finding was that physically active kids are more likely to do better in school. Ms. Singh says schools should consider that finding before they 15 physical education programs.
