Many of us think wrongly that the moon doesn't change. For example, the Tang Dynasty poet Zhang Ruoxu once wrote that "Generations have come and passed away; From year to year the moons look alike, old and new."
However, a new study published in the journal Nature Geoscience shows that the moon is in fact slowly shrinking over time. For the study, a group of U. S. scientists examined and analyzed thousands of photographs taken by NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera(月球勘测轨道飞行器照相机). They found that there were lots of faults(断层) on the surface of the moon. These faults were formed by recent movements on the moon.
According to NASA, the moon is made up of pieces of rocks with a hot core. The moon continued to expand as it was born. But in this process, it released energy and cooled down. Then it began to shrink, in a way comparable the shrinking of a grape into a raisin(葡萄干). Over the past several hundred million years, it has become 46 meters "skinnier". But due to its hard and rocky crust(外壳), the moon's surface continues to push up. "Some of these quakes can be fairly strong around five on the Richter scale(里氏震级)," said Thomas Watters, a senior scientist at the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum in the U. S.
But does that mean the moon is a dangerous place that human shouldn't try to explore and live on in the future Maybe not, reported The Telegraph. "This isn't anything to worry about. The moon may be shrinking, but not by much. It's not going anywhere," Watters comforted us.
The new discovery proves that the idea that the moon is a dead, boring place is wrong. "We have been to the moon and we've done some great science, but there is still a lot we don't know. The moon is shrinking—we didn't really realize that until recently. It's a much more active and interesting place than we thought and we should explore that," NASA scientist Nathan Williams said.
24. Which point of view about the moon may the writer agree to
A. It stays the same as before. B. It is becoming lightly smaller.
C. It is getting older and older. D. It has passed away.
25. What can we learn about the moon from the third paragraph
A. It has become 46 meters fatter due to expanding.
B. It has changed from a grape into a raisin in recent years.
C. It quakes even at seven on the Richter scale.
D. It has a hot core and releases energy during expanding.
26. Who thinks that we needn't worry about the moon
A. Zhang Ruoxu. B. Thomas Watters.
C. Nathan Williams. D. The journalist.
27. What does Nathan Williams think of the moon
A. It is a dead and boring place. B. It has lots of faults on the surface.
C. It is valuable for science research. D. It isn't a place where we can live.

If you visit Uluwatu temple in Bali, be cautious. The long-tailed temple monkeys there are well-known thieves. Since a long time ago, they have made a living by robbing visitors of their possessions and then holding those objects until a ransom in the form of food is paid. But Jean-Baptiste Leca of the University of Lethbridge, in Canada, wondered whether these monkeys are cleverer still. Sometimes, they do not accept the first offer and hold out for more. He therefore asked himself whether they are able to assess how valuable an object is to its owner, and factor that into their negotiations.
Dr. Leca and his colleagues conducted their experiment by wandering around the temple with video cameras, recording the activities of the monkeys. Every time they saw a monkey show interest in a particular tourist, they recorded the interaction. To work out what was going on, they had first to establish the relative values of food rewards to monkeys, and of stealable objects to people.
To confirm which stealable objects are most valued by people, they divided them into six classes: empty containers, such as phone cases and plastic bottles; accessories (搭配物) such as hairpins and key rings; hats and shoes; spectacles and sunglasses; and electronics and wallets. They then observed how often victims bothered to bargain with the thief for the return of property belonging to different classes, and thus classified objects into low value, medium value and high value.
They found that monkeys do, indeed, have a complicated sense of what they are doing — at least, adults and sub-adults do. These animals have a preference for stealing high-value items, and will often hold out either for more rewards, or for better ones, if they are in possession of such items. But this is something that they have to learn how to do as they grow up. Young monkeys make no such distinctions, and sub-adults are less good at doing so than adults.
28.What is the purpose of Leca's research

A. Young monkeys can evaluate items.
B. All monkeys prefer high-value items
C. Monkeys have a simple sense of acts.
D. Monkeys' stealing is an acquired skill.

There are many benefits of rock climbing for kids. The most obvious ones are physical. Rock climbing is an intense physical activity requiring strength and flexibility. Some parents may be concerned that rock climbing for kids is not safe because of the heights involved. However, when all safety measures are observed and the child is well informed about the dangers of the activity, the danger involved could be almost entirely cleared. 39 This makes the activity even less dangerous.

Maybe there is a Father Christmas!
Anna stood anxiously staring at the pouring rain while little Molly looked up at a pretty doll in the window of the toy shop on the edge of town. "Mummy, "Molly said, "that's the doll I would like Father Christmas to bring me." A tear rolled down Anna's cheek and she knew it would be impossible this year. They were supposed to start a new life in Spain one and a half years ago before her husband Tim was cruelly taken from them by a car. Their small amount of savings were quickly spent on Tim’s funeral costs and necessities, leaving her in heavy debt.
To her relief, the local people had helped to support her through these difficult times and especially Juan, owner of the local grocery store, a single man, who would often put something special into her shopping bag, even though he himself had been going through a difficult period — his mother died of cancer and he was busy handling the sale of his mother’s house on the edge of town.
As the rain stopped, Anna and Molly started walking home. She was thinking about buying an umbrella after paying the rent with her upcoming wage when Molly shouted excitedly, "Mummy, what’s that on the road " Anna looked down and saw a bag lying in the water, which was obviously lost because of the sudden rain.
They got home and dried themselves before Anna focused on the bag. Opening it and seeing bundles of money inside, she stood back in shock and cried, "Is this a present from kindness I can pay off my debt, buy Molly’s favorite doll and my new umbrella ...” Then reality set in, Anna was a very moral person and would never steal even the slightest little thing, let alone bundles of money. She went to bed with all thoughts in her mind.
Paragraph 1:
Early next morning, Anna headed where she decided to go.

(二)She held the bag tightly and walked firmly. “The owner must have had a tough night.” A quarter later, Anna found herself in the police station. She handed the bag to the receptionist and said, “I found this bag in the road yesterday. Maybe you can help to find its owner.” Seeing the bundles of money inside, the policeman said in great admiration to Anna, who was filling out the firm, “You must be an angel.”
Seeing Anna's surprised look, Juan told her that he was the owner of the bag and he came to show his thanks. Juan went on explaining that he had just sold his mother’s house on the edge of town to pay for his mother’s treatment. That morning, because of the sudden rain, he was so hurried to get on the taxi that he lost his bag. "Thank you so much for your help." Juan said to Anna and then turned to Molly, handing her the boxes "Here you are, little girl." After opening the boxes, Molly cried with great joy, "Mom, look! Here it is! The doll Father Christmas brings me!" Looking at her happy daughter, Anna smiled, murmuring "Maybe there is a Father Christmas!"
