Contents Health & Safety Grade Grade 9 Class Type Review lesson
I. Analysis of teaching materials
Writing plays an important role in English learning and covers 15 scores in the high school entrance exam. The topic of this lesson is about health and safety which are involved in Unit7 in Grade7, unit 1 and unit 3 in Grade9. It is related to students’ daily life.
II. Analysis of the students
Students in Grade9 have finished learning the lessons during middle school. And they have mastered the basic English skills. But as for writing, they haven’t system learning. It is a difficulty for them to write a good passage. Therefore, this lesson is designed to tell students the writing tips according to the topics.
III. Teaching aims
Knowledge aims: To make students learn about the phrases and sentences about the topic “health and safety”.Ability aims:To make students learn the writing skills.Emotion aims: To encourage students to like writing and use proper expressions to show their ideas.

Step1 Warming-up1. Ask a question “What do you think is the most important in our life ”2. Show students the location of this topic in the exam and link the topic to the textbook.2. Ask questions “How to keep healthy ” and “How to keep safe ” Students answer the questions.Students brainstorm and say out some related phrases and sentences. Lead in the topic ------health and safetyTo arouse students’ memories about the textbook and prepare the phrases and sentences for the writing.
Step2 Before writing1. show an example of the topic and ask students“What should we write ”“What is the topic about ”“What tense/person should we use ”“How many points are included ”2. Teachers give tips about how to write.Tip1: AnalysisTip2: outline Students discuss, answer the questions and take some notes. By analysing the topic, tense, person and writing points of the writing materials, make students know what to write. And guide students to make an outline before writing.
Step3 While writing 1. The teacher asks students to write sentences according to the points.2. The teacher guides students to make sentences better.3. Make students write the whole passage. 1. Students write the sentences and check it to make it better.2. Students write the passages. Through writing sentences and checking to make it better, encourage students to enrich the sentence structures.
Step4 After writing1. Checking in pairsAsk students check in pairs according to the criteria.2. Class correctionShare one or two compositions and revise them in class.3. Teacher feedbackThe teacher makes comments on students’ writings and show one possible version. Students check in pairs first, then in class.Enjoy some good writings together. In this way, students are both writers and readers. It’s good for them to learn more writing skills.
Step5 Summary The teacher makes a summary about how to write a better passage. Students follow the teachers’ advice. To make students master the writing skills.
Step6 Homework Write a passage about how to keep safe.

二档 10~12分 基本包含了所有要点,并有一定发挥,内容比较丰富;应用的语言结构和词汇能满足任务要求,句子较通顺,表达较清楚;有少量语言错误,基本达到了预期的写作目的。
三档 7~9分 包含了多数要点,并有所发挥,内容不够丰富、具体,字数较少;句子不够通顺,语言表达过于简单,行文不够连贯;有部分语言错误。
四档 4~6分 只包含了少数要点,内容过少;句子无条理,语言不规范,行文不连贯;语言错误较多。
五档 0~3分 只包含一个要点或所写内容与要求几乎无关,内容杂乱,不知所云;语言很不通顺,用词很不准确;错误过多,几乎难以读懂。
