Teaching aims (教学目的) Knowledge aims: 1. Get the students to know how to write a letter to offer advice. Ability aims: Enable the students to write a letter to offer advice on friendship. Emotional aims: Develop and improve the students’ ability to help others solve such problems as how to communicate with people, how to make and be good friends, and so on.
Teaching emphasis (教学重点) Develop the students’ writing ability, especially writing to and understanding key words and speakers’ intention and attitude.
Teaching difficulties (教学难点) Develop the students’ writing skills by reading, discussing and writing a letter to give advice on friendship.

Step1. Preparing lessons &self-study and exploring the problems (预习自学,探究问题) Finish the tasks given in the last period before class.
Step2.Finishing plan & asking questions(完成学案,提出问题) Task1.Have a discussion in groups. 1)Can you give Xiaodong some good advice 2)Is your letter well developed 3)Are your ideas well organized to the point 4)Do you have a good choice of words and idioms in your writing 5)Do you get a good mastery of complex structures of language 6)What kind of mistakes have you made in your writing What can you do to avoid such mistakes Step1.Encourage the Ss to encourage others to talk in public.Let the Ss make a short dialogue before class if possible.
Step3.Researching cooperatively& answering questions(合作探究, 解决问题) Task2. Finish Ex 2 at Page 7. Pre-writing in groups 1)Read a letter from a student named Xiaodong. Go through the directions on Page 7. 2)Brainstorm with a partner about ways to change the situation. Make a list of the ideas and give reasons. 3)Decide which are the best ideas and put them into the right order. Step 2. Ask students to write a letter.
Step4.Summing &chewing, summarizing knowledge(总结反刍 ,知识梳理) Task3. Choose some students’ writing paper and show them in the class. Ask the Ss to correct the mistakes together and also learn from some good writings. Step 3. Ask the Ss to read their writing
Step5.Testing in class & improving skills(随堂检测,落实考点) Task4. Finish Writing Task at Page 46 in Book 4. Writing task (on Page 46) (If possible , it can be done) 1. Read the proverbs, explain them and ask the students to choose some they agree with and some they disagree with and explain why. 2. Discuss with their partner and then write a passage according to the sample story and “Analyzing the structure”. Step4. Ask the Ss to finish the writing task according to the materials .
Step6. Assessment & Homework(课堂评价,布置学案) Go over all the words and phrases in this unit; Finish the writing task unfinished in class; Finish the writing task . Step 5. Give the Ss the concrete homework.
