School starts at half past eight. 八点半开始上课。
例句：
时间表达法：
(1)直接读出小时数和分钟数。如:two ten 2 :10。
(2)间接表达
①当0＜分钟数≤30，用“分钟数+ past +点钟数”表示时间，意思是“几点过几分”。如:eight past three 3:08,twenty past four 4:20。如果分钟数正好是30 分,就用half past +点钟数,用half 来表示半”。

② 30 ＜分钟数＜ 60，用“（60 - 原分钟数）+ to +（原点钟数+1）”来表示，意思是“差几分到几点”，如：ten to five 4：50。
时刻表达法作用大，衣食住行离不开它。整点时把点钟(o’clock)打，时分俱全不好表达。直接表达很简单，先时后分莫给弄差。间接表达也可以， past，to 来帮忙。前分后时不能搞差。
