Paragraph 1:
Looking at the money on the table, I stood there, shocked. For the rest of the day,
I felt extremely guilty, with the innocent jogger and his “helplessness" on my mind.
“How could I be so rude to him without knowing the truth Why was it that the jogger
gave me the money I still remember his frightened face when I scared him away like
a monster. I decided to find a chance to apologize to him. The next morning, I got up
and went to the park as usual, but not for jogging. I just hung around where I met that
jogger, but in vain.
Paragraph 2:
For several days, I waited at the same spot. But to my disappointment, he didn't
turn up. It was almost a week later before I finally spotted him again. I, the “robber”,
gave the $10 bill back to him and said sorry to him again and again. Fortunately, he
forgave me for what I had done to him and said, “Oh, it doesn't matter.” Many years
have passed, but I can still feel my cheeks burning with shame. From the experience I
have learned that it is too early to judge a person before you know the truth.

Text 10
Get ready to say goodbye to today’s warm, sunny weather. Just when millions of
people are getting ready for the Christmas holiday, three storms are expected to make
problems for holiday travelers. None of the storms will be strong, but the cold air will
make traveling difficult. The first storm will arrive on this weekend. It will bring rain
to the northeast, but warm air in New York City might cause some fog and low clouds.
It will be hard for drivers to see the road clearly. Later in the week, snow will come to
the northwest states, with three inches falling in Saint Paul, Minnesota. And a few days
later, just when the New Year’s celebrations are scheduled, Boston will be covered with
freezing rain. The ice will cause problems for anyone trying to travel on foot, with one
inch of ice expected on city roads. New Year’s will be cold in Chicago, too, with a
strong wind blowing water from the river onto anyone hoping to celebrate by the water.秘密★启用前

Leaving junior high school, and going up to the big school was a very frightening change
高一 英语 第 4 页 共 12 页
for me. I went there with no friends. The only two people who came from my previous school
were two girls, Donna Davis and Sakjinda Rai, but I developed little friendship with them. At
first I was afraid and looked stupid. But after a few months, I tried keeping my arms open and

Graeme went his own way. Shortly after that we met and later joined another gang(一伙朋

waiting. I took a trip with my friends to Haleakala National Park, which lies in Hawaii.
When we arrived at Haleakala National Park, we were advised to watch the early morning
sunrise. I was lost in the sightseeing that afternoon, so I could hardly wait to see the sunrise. In
the next morning, we all got out of bed very early and got to the seaside at 3 o’clock. In the first

the light, which was really unbelievable. Until today, I dare say that it is the most impressive
sunrise in my life. However, waiting in the morning darkness is also one memory I cannot wipe
from my mind forever.

We all know that exercise is good for our health. To stay healthy, doctors suggest doing
150 minutes of moderate(适度的)exercise every week. But some kinds of exercise may be
better than others. Running, for example, may help to protect against heart disease and other
health problems. 36 "Compared to non-runners, runners show 30% lower risk of death,"
researchers said.
37 Here are four commonly shared ideas among fitness experts to reduce the risk of
injuries for people new to running.
Take it easy. 38 Most people get running injuries when they push themselves too
高一 英语 第 8 页 共 12 页
hard. The body needs time to get used to increases in distance or speed. Muscles(肌肉)and
joints(关节)need time to recover.
Get good running shoes. There is no single best shoe for every runner. You should find
the shoes that offer the best fit for your feet. More importantly, you should replace your shoes
every 500 to 800 kilometers.
39 Take some time after each run to write down notes about what you did and how
you felt. Look for patterns, things that happen over and over again.
Cross train. As we said earlier, running is hard on your body. So physical fitness experts
suggest some forms of cross training to improve muscle balance and to help you stay injury-
free. For example, swimming, cycling and yoga are good exercises to combine with
running. 40
A. Take good notes.
B. Running takes a lot of time.
C. These exercises are easier on the body.
D. Running also may help you live longer.
E. Do not run too much, too soon or too fast.
F. As we all know, doing sports helps us teamwork.
G. Running may be good exercise, but it can be difficult on the body.

A few years ago, the company I worked for sent my wife and me to live in New York for a
year. I’ve always loved running, so I was really happy when I found out I lived next to Central

Park. This meant that every morning I could go for a run before I went to work.
Because a lot of people had told me to be careful of robbers (抢劫犯) in the park, so usually
I didn’t take anything with me. How could they rob me if I didn’t have anything But one
morning, my wife gave me a $ 10 bill and asked me to buy some bread on the way.
It was a beautiful morning and the park was quiet with very few people walking or jogging
(慢跑)around. While I was running through the park, another jogger knocked into me. He said
sorry and continued running. For a while, I didn’t think too much of it. However, when I noticed
the wide path where I was running, I thought it was kind of strange. The warning of robbers in
the park occurred to me. “It could have been a robber!” I suddenly became anxious, so I checked
my pocket and found that the money was missing. Without thinking twice, I ran after that jogger.
I finally caught up and held him by the arm. I shouted, “Give me the $ 10 bill! Now!” I am not
usually a hot-headed(性急的) person, but I got really angry this time. I couldn’t believe the
robbery was actually happening to me. Filled with anger, I shook my fist (拳头) at him. This
seemed to frighten him. He quickly put his hand in his pocket and gave me the money. Then he
ran away as fast as he could.
I bought the bread and went home. As soon as I got home, I couldn’t wait to tell my wife
my story. “You won’t believe what happened to me,” I started with pride. She immediately
stopped me, “I know, you left the money for the bread on the kitchen table.”
