一、教学目标
1. 能够掌握本课重点词汇和短语:cream, workday, show up, bean, market, by the end of等。
2. 理解并掌握本单元语法:when, before, as, by the time等词引导的时间状语从句。
3. 能够熟练运用过去完成时描述生活中发生的事情。
4. 能听懂有关愚人节发生的让人难以预料的事情,并表达有关自己的经历。
5. 了解国外愚人节风俗。

重点:理解并掌握本课重点词汇和短语。
难点:熟练运用过去完成时描述生活中发生的事情。

Task 1
Step 1 Warming-up
Free talk:
Did you forget to bring your backpack to school
Did you miss the bus
What made you embarrassed
【设计意图】通过对话形式引出本节课即将学习的内容,为Grammar Focus做准备。
Step 2 Presentation
Work on Grammar focus
Read the sentences in grammar focus, and try to summarize the usage of the past perfect tense.
Grammar
1. 过去完成时的构成:助动词 had (用于各种人称和数) + 过去分词
2. 过去完成时的含义:主要是表示在过去某个时间,或是动作之前已经发生或完成的动作。也就是动作发生在过去的过去。
3. 过去完成时的用法:
(1) 表示“过去的过去”,通常由by引导的表示过去时间的短语或者从句做时间状语,或
由when引导的时间状语从句。
(2) 常用在宾语从句中。
(3) 体现在上下文中。
【设计意图】让学生读句子,尝试在观察中总结所学的语法,老师再给予系统讲解。
Step 3 Practice
Do some grammar exercises and check the answers together.
Work on 4a~4b
Make sentences using by the time or before.
Fill in the blanks with the correct forms of the words in the box.
Step 4 Production
Work on 4c
Write two true statements and one false statement and ask their partner to guess the false statement. 【设计意图】在不同类型的练习活动中巩固本单元重要语法点。
Task 2
Step 1 Pre-listening
Work on 1a~1b
1. Look at some pictures and learn the new words.
2. Put the words in the correct columns in the chart.
3. Tell their partners something that happened to them recently. Use two or more words in 1a.
【设计意图】用图片教授新单词,学生能够直观形象地感知。再通过分辨词性复习与节日有关的词汇,以及运用相关词汇讲述近一段时间发生在自己身上的事情,为后续听力做铺垫。
Step 2 While-listening
Work on 1c~1d
1. Listen and write each person’s name under the correct picture.
2. Listen again. Write “D” for Dave, “N” for Nick, and “J” for Joe.
【设计意图】在听力训练中了解愚人节的习俗并巩固过去完成时的用法。
Step 3 Post-listening
Work on 1e
Tell April Fool’s Day stories in groups. Use the information in1c and 1d.

Summarize what they have learned this class.

Think about the question: What made you embarrassed Then write a short passage about it.
