Unit 4 Then and now第1课时教学设计
一、教学内容：
江苏省《英语》六年级上册Unit 4 Then and now Story time部分和外研社阅读教材Early writings。
二、教材分析
本课通过Mike一家人生活、学习、工作等方面的纵向对比，巧妙地展现了人类在科技、物质生活、个人成长等方面的巨大变化。本单元是对之前几个单元所学的一般现在时和一般过去时的小结，以帮助学生系统归纳、全面梳理。
编者的暗示：1、对比变化以同一参照物更有说服力。2、表述发生的变化时，应关注随之发生的时态变化。
三、教学目标：
词汇：then and now, use, telephone, mobile phone, anywhere（三会）
ago, office （四会）
能较好地理解、流利朗读Story time第一、二段的内容，并能简要复述。
能借助于上下文，掌握阅读短文中的生词early days, letter, instead, symbolic, meaning, nowadays，并能掌握关键句型Instead of…, they would…的用法。
4、在阅读中，能快速分辨过去与现在两种不同的时态，并能较流利地叙述过去与现在的不同情况。
5、能借助本课所学知识，读懂Early Writings一文，并借鉴相应的学习方法提高英语阅读能力。
6、通过本课学习，在感受科技发展日新月异、物质生活突飞猛进的同时，增进家国情怀，立志成才报国。
四、教学重点：
1、在阅读中，能快速分辨过去与现在两种不同的时态，并能较流利地叙述过去与现在的不同情况。
2、能借助本课所学知识，读懂Early Writings一文，并借鉴相应的学习方法提高英语阅读能力。

Step 4 Reading: Early writings
1. Listen and underline（听录音，划出你不理解的单词和句子）
In the early days, people did not use letters to write. Instead, they used pictures.
Instead of writing e-y-e for eye, they would draw one.
Instead of writing f-l-o-w-e-r for flower, they would draw one.
We say that these pictures have symbolic meanings.
Nowadays, we use letters instead of pictures.
Teach the new words and sentences.
