1、阅读前准备：教师可先提几个问题,让学生先讨论:
a. Is this a boy or a girl
b. Is he big or little
c. Where is he (In the desk)
d. What do you think happens in this story
2、阅读：教师先读一遍故事，让学生理解。让后让学生单独朗读。
3、阅读后讨论：用几个问题帮助学生理解，也可以是学生自己提问题。对故事的大概意思理解就可以，不必为解决某个单词多用时间。

Zeke is a little1 , little boy. Emma is a girl. S he is Little Zekes’ friend.
Emma has many friends. Tom, Nan and Jane are her friends.
But Little Zeke has only one friend－He hides in Emma’s desk.
What does Little Zeke do？ He helps Emma.
Sometimes, Little Zeke puts an apple on the teachers’ desk. In the morning, Mrs. Jone s finds the apple on the desk.

A new girl, Tess, comes to Emma’ s class. She feels sad and afraid.4 She hides behind her books.
Little Zeke wants to help Tess. He wants her to feel happy. He writes to her.
Tess finds Little Zeke in her desk. She finds him in her pencil box. She is so happy.
Now, Little Zeke has two friends—Emma and Tess.
