Located beside Lake Geneva, the Olympic Museum houses more than 10,000 artificial
objects and hours of interactive contents highlighting some of the best moments during the
Olympics. Here are some of the museum’s most moving moments.
The Olympic Park
The journey through the Olympic Museum begins in the Olympic Park, an
8,000-square-meter outdoor area in front of the museum overlooking Lake Geneva and the
Alps. The park contains artwork and sculptures that show respect to the world of sport.

The Stadiums
The stadiums that host the Olympic Games are as much of a celebration of design as the
games are a celebration of sportsmanship. Guests can explore plans and models of Olympic
stadiums’ past and present, including one of the games’ most attractive stadiums, the Bird’s
Nest from Beijing 2008 Olympics.
The Olympic Medals
Have you ever wondered what an Olympic medal looks like The Olympic Museum has
a room that houses every bronze, silver, and gold medal from every Olympic Games dating

In the first term of college, Professor Kelly lectured us in his Acting 1 class about the
importance of taking the business of acting seriously. As I prepare to take on my senior year, I
think back on the first term and I consider my seriousness and my love for the art of theatre.
I’m pleased to say that, for the most part, my determination remains as strong as ever.
Even after I’ve learned about the difficulties and the heartbreak that go with working as
an actor, I know that it is still the right path for me. Something Professor Kelly said in that
first acting class has stuck with me through these last three years. He said, “Every actor
chooses to act for their own reasons — personally I do it because I have to. I have to perform.
It’s who l am.” For as long as I’ve been performing, I’ve wondered how to best describe why
I do what I do. Professor Kelly answered that question for me that day.
When I was little and first imagined what it would be like to be a real actor, I would
imagine being known about by many people someday. However, I never actually wanted that.
I act because no matter what is going on in my life, no matter how stressed I am with what’s
happening outside of or during practices, when I’m on stage, I’m home and I’m me.
Many parents will feel worried about their children’s choosing to be an actor. Some will
be surprised. My parents are just exceptions. They knew from the start that nothing was going
to keep me from doing what I love.
24. What did Professor Kelly’s words make the author realize
A. She did acting out of love. B. She really had a gift for acting.
C. She would face many challenges. D. She must work hard to learn acting.
25. What does the underlined word “that” in paragraph 3 refer to
A. Imagining being an actor. B. Being on stage.
C. Becoming famous one day. D. Being devoted to theatre.
26. How do the author’s parents feel about her choice
A. Surprised. B. Concerned.
C. Disappointed. D. Supportive.
27. What is the author mainly talking about in the text
A. Why she chose acting. B. Who inspired her to act.
C. How acting changed her life. D. What she learned about acting.
C
Researchers have been looking into silicon carbide(碳化硅 ), a promising alternative
material for the semiconductor (半导体 ) industry, for several years now. Size, weight and
efficiency are three important factors for power electronic to fit in e-cars. Silicon carbide
meets all three factors. It is more efficient but leaves a smaller footprint than conventional
semiconductors such as silicon.
Even so, silicon carbide isn’t to be found in any e-cars on the road today. This
semiconductor material is still limited to research labs. To shift it from the lab to the factory,
the Silicon Carbide Module (模块) project has taken into consideration all the conditions of
industrial production. The module’s design is a good case: researchers at the Fraunhofer IZM
3
are basing it on the structure of the classic printed circuit board that the industry has long
favored. This should speed up its first display.
The module is also benefiting from the latest scientific advances. Instead of
wire-bonding the semiconductor to the package, the researchers decided to put it directly in
the circuit. The team also brought the potential customer on board for this development effort.
In the project’s first year, they drew up a specification ( 规 格 ) sheet illustrating the
requirements for the module and semiconductor. The researchers worked closely with users,
catering to their wishes when they determined the product specification.
Automakers, component suppliers and OEMS were directly involved in the effort to map
out the power-electronic module’s size, layout and electrical circuits. The group sought to
make the most of the space available in the vehicle’s power train. Lars Bottcher, group leader
at the Fraunhofer IZM and head of the SiC sub-project, says, “The major goal is to advance
the new semiconductor material silicon carbide to mass production.”
28. What do we know about silicon carbide
A. It is larger than silicon. B. It is still under research.
C. It has been used in some e-cars. D. It has been shifted to the factory.
29. Why did researchers bring the potential customer
A. To draw up a formal agreement.
B. To adjust the module accordingly.
C. To witness their effort and success.
D. To wire-bond the semiconductor to the package
30. What was the main purpose of the group according to the last paragraph
A. To mass-produce silicon carbide.
B. To change the shape of the module.
C. To increase the volume of the module.
D. To expand the production of powered vehicles.
31. What is the author’s attitude towards the research
A. Doubtful. B. Tolerant. C. Optimistic. D. Indifferent.
D
Scientists often compare coral reefs (珊瑚礁 ) to underwater rainforests, yet unlike the
leafy plant base of a forest, corals are animals. The soft creatures are naturally half-transparent
and get their brilliant color from algae (藻类 ) living inside them. When corals experience
stress from hot temperatures or pollution, they halt the interdependent relationship with algae,
typically pushing them out and turning white. Corals are still alive when they are white, but
they're at risk and many eventually die, turning dark brown.
Scientists around the world are looking for means to protect and maybe increase corals.
One common option is to create more protected areas — essentially national parks in the
ocean. Beyond nature preserves, some conservationists are looking to more hands-on methods.
One research center in the Florida Keys is exploring a form of natural selection to keep corals
remaining. The reef system in the Keys has been hit hard by climate change and pollution,
which is especially tough, because corals there help support fisheries worth $ 100 million
every year.
To keep the wild ecosystem alive, Erinn Muller, the center's director, and her team are
harvesting samples of the corals that survived the environmental stress naturally, keeping
them to make them reproduce, and then reattaching them to the reef. They have 46,000 corals
on plastic frames under the sea. So far, the center has regrown over 70,000 corals from five
different species on damaged reefs.
4
In The Bahamas, Ross Cunning, a research biologist at Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium,
focuses on corals with genes that could make them natural candidates for restoration projects.
He published a study of two Bahamian reefs, one that survived an extreme 2015 heat wave,
and one that didn’t. “We think their ability to deal with these higher temperatures is built into
their genes,” says Cunning. There’s evidence of corals evolving more quickly to resist rapidly
warming climate. The big question scientists need investigate, adds Gunning, is how much
more heat corals can adapt to.
32. What does the underlined word “halt” in the first paragraph mean
A. End. B. Develop. C. Strengthen. D. Weaken.
33. What do Muller and her team do to save corals
A. Restore the damaged reefs. B. Create more protected areas.
C. Grow corals by hand underwater. D. Move corals to unpolluted areas.
34. What do Gunning’s words suggest
A. Many corals have been genetically improved.
B. Cooling down the waters is key to rescuing corals.
C. Reasons for corals surviving heat waves are shocking.
D. The highest temperature corals can survive is unclear.
35. Which can be a suitable title for the text
A. Relationship between corals and algae
B. Efforts made to save corals
C. Impact of climate warming on corals
D. Survival crisis faced by coral reefs

When Jayce Crowder was in kindergarten, he began noticing that he looked different
from his classmates. They had two hands. But he had only one.
It started when one boy teased him. Jayce was in a bad mood. He’d return home in Des
Moines, Iowa, with questions: Why am I different Why me Why “He actually told us that
he was mad at looking so different from others,” said his mother, Cortney Lewis. “That really
hurt him.” Lewis admitted she didn’t know what to do at that point. How could she provide
answers to her son’s questions when she had never found those answers herself
A few weeks later, Lewis came home from her job and turned on the TV to a news story
about Trashaun Willis, an eighth grader from Washington middle school, Iowa. The boy, then
14, had become an Internetstar after posting videos of his slam dunk(扣篮) , and, like Jayce,
he was missing most of his left arm. Lewis called Jayce in. He was shocked, staring at one
dunk after another.
At the time, it seemed that watching Trashaun would simply be an inspiring moment for
Jayce—he’d see a shining role model with a seemingly similar born disability. And had it
stayed just that, Lewis would have been happy. But little did she know that a family friend
had already reached out to the Des Moines Register, asking the newspaper to help set up a
meeting with Trashaun to encourage Jayce and build his confidence.
注意:
1.续写词数应为 150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

countless exercise rather than drown ourselves in sorrow or disappointment. Regarding
difficulties we meet in our daily life, bouncing back from low spirits and quickly regaining
our composure as Yaping Wang did definitely count.
第二节 (满分 25分)
A few days later, the good news that Trashaun accepted the invitation to meet Jayce
came. Finally, the boys met at Washington Middle School on a Saturday afternoon a couple of
months later and they instantly bonded. The day was not spent on self-pity. Instead, they rode
bikes around the school's hallways, took photos, and played basketball together. Trashaun
taught Jayce how to slam dunks, even giving him a basketball as a gift. He told Jayce he was
perfect the way he looked. He encouraged him not to let anyone drag him down and shake his
confidence.
After the meeting, Jayce learned to accept his disability. He began to understand that
there are many people like him and came to adapt himself to his disability. He recently started
practising shooting basketball every day and he really loves it. Jayce often chats with
Trashaun on the Internet about basketball skills as well as some school issues. He is really
motivated by this role model and has a positive attitude to his future life. As for Trashaun, he
never dreamed that his videos would have such an impact. His relationship with Jayce made
him look forward to helping more kids.
