一、案例简介:
本课选取的是人教版新目标《九年级全一册》Unit 14 I remember meeting all of you in Grade 7.Section B 2a--2e Reading. 学生通过阅读学习一篇初中毕业典礼的演讲稿,回顾过去三年的学习经历及畅想未来,同时学生学会简单描述自己的校园生活,培养自己的感恩意识,计划将来,树立远大的理想,展望美好的未来。教师采用引导学生自主阅读,完成学习任务的形式来实施教学。同时引导学生掌握一定的阅读技巧,最终完成教学目标。

Learning objectives
1. To understand the passage about a graduation speech.
2. To understand the kind (类型)and purpose of the speech.
3. To learn how to prepare and give a speech.
情感目标:学生学会简单描述自己的校园生活,培养自己的感恩意识,计划将来,梳立远大的理想,展望美好的未来。
教学过程
step1. Warming up
A:Vocabulary: here are some important phrases that will help in the passage reading.(read them twice)
graduation ceremony毕业典礼
be thirsty for knowledge渴求知识
be thankful to sb.对某人心存感激
ahead of…在……前面
along with连同;除……以外还
make your own decision做出你自己的选择
be responsible for 对……负责任
set out 启程;出发
separate from…分离;隔开

Step3:Reading
What would you say, if you had a chance to give a speech at the graduation ceremony
Task 1: Read the passage and answer the questions.
1. What kind of text is this Is it a story, a speech or a notice
It is a speech.
2. Who do you think wrote it
Maybe the headmaster.
3. Who is it for
It is for the graduating students of the school.

Task2:
The passage we’re learning is a speech. How to write a speech So let’s look at the structure of the speech on P110.
The first part of the speech is the greeting: ladies and gentlemen. In different situations, we can use other options like fellow students, distinguished guest.
The next part of the speech is opening. We usually express our gratitude by saying Thank you for coming today.
Here comes the main part :the body
For the last part is the ending , we usually say good luck and hope.
This is the basic structure of a speech, containing 4 parts
Greeting opening body ending .

Task3:There are 3 main parts in this speech. Let continue our reading.
Read the passage and match the main idea for each paragraph.
1.Congratulate all the students and compare the past with the present.
2.Tell students to be thankful to those who have helped them.
3.Tell students something they should or shouldn’t do in the future.
In order to get the main idea, we should find out the topic sentence of each paragraph. So let’s have a try.
1.You’ve all grown up so much and I’m so proud of you.
2.Never fail to be thankful to the people around you.
3.the end of junior high school is the beginning of a new life.

Task4:
2c: Read the passage again and answer the questions on P 111.
1. What were the students like in Grade7
They were all so full of energy and thirsty for knowledge.
2. How have the students changed
They are now talented young adults who are full of hope for the future.
3. Who should the students thank and why
They should thank the important people in their lives – their parents, teachers and friends – because these are the people who have helped and supported them.
4. What will senior high be like
Life in senior high will be harder and they will have many difficult tasks ahead of them.
How should the students deal with the future
They should learn from their mistakes and never give up, choose wisely and be responsible for their own decisions and actions, and not forget where they came from.
What advice would you give to students who are just starting junior high school
This is an open question. You can give the answer according to your own experience.

1. First of all, I’d like to congratulate all the students who are here today.
congratulate作及物动词, 意为“祝贺”,常用于以下结构:
congratulate sb.
congratulate sb. on (doing) sth.
在某方面祝贺某人。如:
I want to congratulate you with all my heart.
Jane congratulated me warmly on my new job.
Sandy congratulated Bob on winning the table tennis game.
【拓展】
congratulation是它的名词形式,且常用其复数形式,可以单独使用,也可以用于congratulations to sb.结构中。如:
Congratulations! I hear you’ve passed the math exam.
Congratulations to the new parents.
语境应用】单项选择。
1) Tom congratulated me ________ having come first in my exams.
A. at B. in C. on D. to
2) Paul passed the computer exam. Congratulations ________ him.
A. on B. to C. with D. for
3) —I passed my driving test yesterday.

2. But along with difficulties, there will also be many exciting things waiting for you.
along with(1)连同; 与……一起(一道) 连接两个主语时, 谓语动词的数应和along with前面的那个主语保持一致。如:
Mom sent me some money along with her letter.
He, along with his two friends, is going to Hong Kong next month.
(2)除……以外(还)。如:
Along with the newspaper, Sam brought a cup of coffee to Mr. Black.
【语境应用】翻译句子。
1) 和朋友们一起,我总是感到很高兴。
I always feel very happy along with friends.
2) 除了三明治以外,Daisy还吃了一个巧克力蛋糕。
Along with the sandwich, Daisy ate a chocolate cake.
Sara连同她父母已经在北京待了三周了。
Sara along with her parents has stayed in Beijing for three weeks.
3. Although you have to go your separate ways now…
adj. 单独的; 分离的。
e.g. Our children want separate rooms.
v. 分开; 分离, 常与from搭配, 表示把不同的个体分开。
e.g. Can you separate the good ones from the bad ones
【语境应用】翻译句子。
1) 孩子们都睡在各自的床上。
The children sleep in separate beds.
请将冰箱里面的肉和其他食物分开。
Please separate meat from the other food in the fridge.
4. Never fail to be thankful to the people around you.
否定结构的祈使句。祈使句否定结构大多由助动词don’t承担。加强语气,可用never替代don’t,千万不要……;一定别……。进一步强调,表达语气更强的禁止,可使用Never, ever…结构。
e.g.
别来迟了。(不要迟到。)
对人一定不要讲脏话。(翻译)
Don’t come late.
Never use dirty words on others.
5. As you set out on your new journey, you shouldn’t forget where you came from.
set out on something 开始进行新的或重要的事情
e.g. When we set out on this project, we knew it would be difficult.(翻译)
我们开始着手这个项目时就知道它的难处。
e.g. 这些旅行者休息三天后又出发了。(翻译)
After a three-day rest, the travelers set out again.

学生通过阅读学习这篇初中毕业典礼的演讲稿,回顾过去三年的学习经历及畅想未来,能培养自己的感恩意识,计划将来,树立远大的理想,展望美好的未来。因为是一节录播课,没有教师和学生的互动,所以教师采用引导学生自主阅读,完成学习任务的形式来学习本课。课堂可能会比较枯燥。但本文引导学生掌握一定的阅读技巧和对文章复述的能力,培养学生的阅读素养,提升学生的自学能力。
