If you want to make sure that you understand this story as fully as possible, you might consider printing the article and reading it on paper.
Virginia Clinton carried out the research examination.Clinton’s examination found that reading from paper generally led to better understanding and improved a person’s performance on tests connected to the reading material. And,she found no major difference in reading speed between the two.Such differences were notable only when the reading materials were expository texts—or explanatory and based on fact.Clinton said she found no major difference when it came to narrative, fictional texts.
Clinton also found that paper readers usually have a higher recognition of how well they have understood a text than screen readers. She said,“We think that we’ve reading the story or the book better than we actually are.We think we understand what we are reading better than how we are actually reading.” Yet,this inflated sense of understanding is especially common among screen readers.
Clinton said there are many possible reasons for such findings.Overconfidence of screen readers, for example, could be the result of a distracted, less focused mind.Clinton said,“If you are enjoying the reading process, you’re going to be more involved. You’re going to be paying better attention.Preferences are a key issue here.”
“Several studies have found that people often think of paper materials as more important and serious. If you are reading from paper, your mind thinks,‘This is something important.I need to pay attention to it’.” Clinton said.Readers might connect computer screens with fun, less serious activities such as checking social media or watching Netflix.Clinton described this kind of reading as “enjoyment reading”.
Although her findings may support paper reading over screen reading,Clinton says,“When you’re reading on a screen,it can be programmed that you have to answer questions and get them right before you can continue.Paper can’t make you do that.Other tools in development will offer students reading at a lower level more simple texts while providing their other classmates more complex versions of the same text.”
1.What does Clinton think is the advantage of screen reading
A.It can be programmed with instant answers.
B.It provides personalised reading materials.
C.It has tools to force readers to continue reading.
D.It makes readers have more fun in reading.

A.Screen time makes reading more effective.
B.Paper reading is more effective than screen reading.
C.Screen reading is more suitable for some readers.
D.Screen reading is improving paper reading.
3.What did Clinton find in her study
A.Paper readers were better at reading fictional texts.
B.Screen reading resulted in a more focused mind.
C.Paper reading was found to be more efficient.
D.Screen reading brought more enjoyment for readers.
4.Paper reading materials are usually considered .

Want to get your package delivered via robots Now there’s an app for that.If you live in Washington,D.C.,or Redwood, you may have glimpsed a small, boxy robot rolling along a local sidewalk, minding its own business, but attracting the attention of many curious onlookers.
The autonomous machines were part of a pilot program last year by Starship Technologies focusing on delivering meals from local restaurants in dozens of cities around the world. This week, the company unveiled plans to broaden its delivery service beyond food to include packages,a move that led it to declare itself “the world’s first robot package delivery service”.The next time you order food, this cute robot might roll up to deliver it.The package delivery service is not available to everyone yet.
The wheeled robots have a top speed of 4 mph and can detect obstacles from 30 feet away.“The robot can operate through anything,” Nick Handrick, head of operations for Starship’s D.C.office,said,“If you have something in the way—a stick—it’s able to climb over it.”
To sign up for the service, which costs a little more than $ 10 per month, customers need to download the company’s app.Customers then create a “Starship Delivery Address”,a unique address inside a Starship facility, where they can have packages sent from some places.Once a package is delivered to the Starship address, customers receive a text notification that allows them to schedule a home delivery via robots. The robots are opened by customers via a mobile phone code.
Barriers exist for robotic ground delivery, with many states requiring that humans be in control of delivery robots. Those regulations haven’t stopped Starship Technologies from accumulating experience on streets around the globe ahead of the company’s latest launch. The company says its robots have covered more than 125,000 miles in more than 100 cities in 20 countries.

Caught in “the Web”!
Dave and Kelly loved their computer.Their parents got it for them a couple of months ago,and they had taught their kids how to use it.They bought some computer games for the kids to play and connected the computer to the Internet. The kids loved going on the Internet and visiting websites. They got to do research for their homework, play games, print colouring pages and read stories. They also got to email their friends and even chat with other kids, after getting their parents’ permission.
Because the kids liked the Internet so much, they would finish their homework, and then go to surf the Internet.Very often, they didn’t feel the passage of time and found themselves almost falling asleep in front of the computer screen.
One day they stayed up late surfing the Internet after they were done with their homework. They watched a video about a science fiction story, which described two alien species hunting human information, because aliens had a wicked intention to conquer the Earth. The species coming from a distance tried to collect every aspect of data about humans, but in vain. They were detected and driven away by watchful humans. After a while they started getting tired and they were almost falling asleep. While they were in the twilight between being asleep and being awake, they felt a strong suction coming from the computer screen. It felt like a huge vacuum cleaner!
By now, they were fully awake but when they looked around, they did not see their living room anymore.Instead, they were drawn into the computer itself by that mysterious power. They were surrounded by a complex system of tubes and small boxes and columns. They were all in different shapes, such as being tall, short, wide, narrow, round, square, etc.More strangely, they all felt a little warm and some even were shining with real, blue or orange light. They saw themselves floating in a long tube with speeding chunks of alphabets, numbers, images, and sounds. They were INSIDE the computer!
注意:续写词数应为150左右。
Their dream came true and they decided to let loose and drift along the long tubes and have some fun.
