Understanding of the teaching material
The topic of this unit is “ healthy eating ”. The reading passage is to introduce us two unbalanced diets through the restaurants of Wang Peng and Yong Hui. We want students to appreciate what a balanced diet is through the passage and finally develop the sense to form a healthy eating habit.
The analysis of the students
The students are in Senior 1. They have already acquired a certain number of words and expressions which lay the foundation for the understanding of the topic. With the development of their body and mind, they have begun to pay more attention to their health, but they are still in lack of the knowledge of healthy diets. The purpose of this class is meant to help them form a good eating habit and develop their sense of health. For the good of their health, they are sure to show great interest in the topic.
Teaching aims
By the end of this class period, students will be able to learn the way of analyzing the structure of a text. cultivate their oral English skills by discussing a related topic. learn how to keep healthy with a balanced diet. learn how to solve a problem by cooperation and studying others’ strong points.
Teaching key and difficult points
To guide the students to study independently by solving tasks and discussing with each other. To make the students have a full understanding of the text. To enable the students to voice their opinions freely.

Teaching activities and questions Purpose
Step 1: Greeting Step 2: Lead in Show a picture about food, then ask the students to listen a micro lesson about different kinds of food to lead students to think about how to keep healthy. Step 3:Warming up Show the micro lesson to students to discuss and understand the necessary knowledge of a balanced diet. Step 4: Pre-reading Predict what the passage is about by the pictures. Step 5: Reading 1)Fast reading Read quickly and find the relationship of the roles. 2) Careful reading Task 1: Listen to the tape and divide the passage into 3 parts Task 2:Read the whole passage carefully and find the main meaning of each paragraph (1) Choose the correct answers (2) Sum them up Task 3: Answer the questions Read each paragraph carefully and answer the questions for the specific paragraph. 3) Post-reading Task 1: Compare the two restaurants Fill in the blanks to make the outline clear. Task 2: Group work Discuss how to run a restaurant. Task 3: Give some suggestions of healthy way of living Step 5: Summary Sum up all the points that have mentioned in this class to consolidate and check the students’ knowledge Step 6: Homework 1. Retell the text. (1) Use the first person to retell the story. (2) Try to use proper prepositions and conjunctions. 2. Prepare for the language learning . Naturally lead in the topic and warm up the atmosphere in the class. To practise students’ speaking. set the stage for the next activity. Inspire students to think and learn the way of analyzing the structure of a text. Guide students to learn some reading skills by tasks. guide the students to study independently by solving tasks and discussing with each other and learn how to solve a problem by cooperation and studying others’ strong points. To put the class to a climax and stimulate students’ sense to form a healthy eating habit . Consolidate what has been learned.
