The best people in any field are those who spend the most hours on deliberate practice (有意练习). By doing it, you plan to improve your action. For example, simply hitting a ball is not deliberate practice. Hit a ball 300 times with the purpose of making holes in the ball. You should succeed 80 percent of the times. If you don’t, go to look at the results and make right changes. Keep doing that for hours every day. That’s deliberate practice.
A survey studied a group of 20-year-old violinists. The best group had 10,000 hours of deliberate practice over their lives. The next-best had 7,500 hours. And the next had 5,000. It’s the same in other fields.
Winston Churchill always practiced his speeches. He said, “If I don’t practice for a day, I know it. If I don’t practice for two days, my wife knows it. If I don’t practice for three days, the world knows it.”
Great athletes (运动员) always practice, too. As for football, all-time great receiver Jerry Rice was refused by 15 teams because they thought he was too slow. He practiced so hard that other players would get sick trying to keep up. Then he succeeded. Tiger Woods is another good example. His father introduced golf to him at a very early age — 18 months old, and encouraged him to practice hard. Woods had at least 15 years of practice by the time he became the youngest-ever winner of the US Amateur Championship, at the age of 18. He has never stopped trying to improve, spending hours a day practicing.

Mr. Guo is a teacher from Xi’an. He asked his students to hand in their homework through a QR code(二维码), "We spent an hour or two in class learning how to generate(使产生)the codes, and in the end everything gets easier." Said Guo. "When students finish the homework, they keep it on WeChat. Then, each student makes his own QR code and gives it to me. So I can check their work everywhere using my computer or telephone."
The QR codes can be sent to Mr. Guo by email, QQ and WeChat. When Guo scans(扫描) his students’ QR codes, their homework appears on his phone. He finds that their homework becomes more creative, with many pictures, music and even videos.
Guo’s students like the new way and think it is interesting. "We are living in the information age. Many students like to work with computers, which makes learning more fun." said Tingting, a student of Guo’s.
"The paper is not easy to keep, but the code is easy to keep and share." Guo said. "It is worth trying to use new technology in education. Education itself is a kind of creation. I don’t want my students to fall behind the times."
However, some parents are worried. They are afraid that their children will spend too much time on computers and less time communicating with teachers. But in fact, it’s unnecessary. Students still need to look up information in books and write it down when they do their homework. They only use the code when they hand in their work, which doesn’t take them too much time. Also for teachers, it allows them to check the students’ work at any time. And it’s also an easy way to share homework with other students.

When a child is told he is "uncool", it can be very painful. He may say he doesn’t care, and even act in ways that are opposite of cool on purpose. But these are simple ways to deal with sadness by pretending(假装) it’s not there.
Helping a child feel better in school had to be careful. If you say, "Why are you worried about what other children think about you It doesn’t matter!" Children know that it does matter. Instead, an active way may be best. You could say, "I’m going to do a few things for you to help you feel better in school."
If a boy is having trouble making friends, the teacher can help him. The teacher can arrange things so that he has chances to use his abilities to do things for class. This is how the other children learn how to value his good qualities and to like him. A teacher can also raise a child’s popularity in the group by showing that he values that child. It even helps to put him in a seat next to a very popular child, or let him be a partner with that child in activities, etc.
There are things that parents can do at home, too. Be friendly when your child brings others home to play. Encourage him to invite friends to meals and then serve the dishes they consider "Super". When you plan trips, picnics, movies, and other shows, invite another child with whom your child wants to be friends.
What you can do is to give him a chance to join a group that may be shutting him out. Then, if he has good qualities, he can start to build real friendship of his own.

On February 9th, 2013, Sarah Darling was walking along the street when she met a homeless man named Billy Ray Harris. She reached into her change purse, emptied out all the coins she had and gave them to the homeless man. Neither of them realized that this small generous act would change their lives.

All our food comes from the soil. Some of us eat meat, but animals live on plants. If there are no plants, we will have no animals and meat. So the soil is necessary for us to live. The top of ground is usually covered with grass or other plants. Plants grow in soil, which has a dark color. This dark soil is humus. Dead leaves, dead plants and animals’ waste make it, but this takes a long time.
When the humus has been made, plants can grow well in it. All soil needs food. If we don’t give it any, the plants will be weak. Animals’ waste is the best food for the soil, but chemical fertilizers (化肥) are also very useful. The same crop should not be grown in the same place every year. It is better to have a different crop. A change of crop and the use of a good fertilizer will keep the land in good condition.
When the soil is dry, the wind blows it away. Sometimes heavy rain carries the humus down to a river. People should grow more and more trees and grass to stop wind from carrying the humus away. It takes hundreds of years to make humus, and so we must save every bit of it. Without soil, where can we grow food

At sixteen Ron Mackie might have stayed at school, but the future called to him excitedly. "Get out the classroom into a job." it said, and Ron obeyed. His father, supporting the decision, found a place for him in a supermarket. "You are lucky, Ron", he said. "For every boy with a job these days, there’s a dozen without." So Ron joined the working world at twenty pounds a week.
For a year he spent his days filling shelves with tins of food. By the end of that time he was looking back on his schooldays as a time of treat variety(多样化) and satisfaction. He searched for an interest in his work, with little success.
One fine day instead of going to work Ron got a lift on a lorry going south. With nine pounds in his pocket, a full heart and a great longing for the sea, he set out to make a better way for himself. That evening, in Bournemouth, he had sandwich and a drink in a cafe run by an eldly man and his wife. Before he had finished the sandwich, the woman had taken him on for the rest of the summer, at twenty pounds a week, a room upstairs and three meals a day. The ease and speed of it rather took Ron’s breath away. At quiet times Ron had to check the old man’s arithmetic in the records of the business.

On February 9th, 2013, Sarah Darling was walking along the street when she met a homeless man named Billy Ray Harris. She reached into her change purse, emptied out all the coins she had and gave them to the homeless man. Neither of them realized that this small generous act would change their lives.
Sarah didn’t realize that she had given Billy not only all her change but also her diamond ring that she had put in her change purse earlier until the following morning.
She and her husband, Bill Krejci, rushed to see if they could find Billy. The homeless man was not only in the same place, he also immediately returned the ring. The grateful couple paid him back for his honesty by emptying out their pockets of all the money they had.
Bill Krejci, a web designer, felt that he needed to do something more for this amazingly honest man. So on February 18th, he set up a special page to raise money for him. In just four days, Billy received over $85,000 and there seems to be no end yet.
That is not enough. Billy is living with a person who is generous instead of living in the streets. And that’s not all—thanks to the news report, he got together again with his older brother, Edwin Harris, who he had been unable to find for 27 years.
All the good luck is just because Billy did the right thing—returning something that did not belong to him.
