I read an amazing book over 15 years ago that changed my life. It was called “Eat That Frog! 21 Great Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done in Less Time”, written by Brian Tracy, a legend in the field of personal development. What he means is that you should start your working day by focusing on doing the hardest task of the day first, if you want to be successful.
I've worked on this very thing for years. Every morning, seven days a week, my alarm goes off at 3:59 a. m. I get up and get to work. Most days, it's writing 1,500 words for my newsletters (简讯) or next book. Accountability (负责) is one of the important habits in my life, and I can never abandon it. Having goals is good. Having a 90 day deadline is great.
When I work with clients, we don't stop at setting three process goals for 90 days. We dig deeper and go to the next level. I demand they come up with one big action step to take in the next 24 hours that will move them ahead to their 90 day goal. What is the most important action you can take in the next 24 hours to move you ahead in life and help you accomplish your 90 day goal So ask yourself this: What big action step can you take to get results and move ahead in the next 72 hours The next seven days Two weeks A month
A deadline can have the biggest initial impact on your success. But it's accountability that keeps it going. After all, you can have all the greatest advice in the world, but if you don't have accountability, you'll fall off the truck. For years, I have benefited from the wisdom. Accountability is important and I can never, ever abandon it.
21.What did the author benefit from
A.Writing newsletters.
B.A book about people's development.
C.Setting his alarm.
D.Having a 90 day deadline.
22.What's the author's job according to the second paragraph
A.A writer. B.A professor.
C.A teacher. D.A businessman.
23.What does the passage mainly talk about
A.If you work with others, a deadline plays an important part.
B.If you want to be wise, you should abandon your deadline.
C.If you intend to success, you should stick to accountability.
D.If you meet with great difficulty, you should change your plans.

Since 1964, colleges and universities in the U. S. have used Test of English as a Foreign Language, or TOEFL, to measure an international applicant's level of English. Universities in English speaking European countries began using the International English Language Testing System, or IELTS, in 1989. These two tests have been the main choices for English ability testing in higher education admissions for international students until now.
In recent years, several companies have developed new English language tests that are low cost and easy to use. And they aim to do more than just offer greater choice in the admissions process.
Founded in 2012, Duolingo creates software that teaches users many different languages, including English. In 2014, the company launched its own test of English language ability.
Jennifer Dewar works with Duolingo, helping to develop the test. She formerly worked as an admissions official at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. The school is one of hundreds of colleges, universities and other organizations in and outside the U. S. that now accept the test results for international admissions into their study programs.
Dewar says Duolingo created the test to lower the barriers to higher education for people worldwide, especially those in developing countries.
TOEFL and the IELTS cost about $ 300. They are given in a limited number of centers around the world. Some test takers have to travel to take the tests, adding to the costs. Duolingo offers its test entirely over the Internet for $ 49. All test takers need is access to a computer with a microphone, listening device and self facing camera.
TOEFL, the IELTS and Duolingo measure a person's English reading, listening, speaking and writing abilities. But it takes about 45 minutes to complete a Duolingo test, compared to three or four hours for TOEFL or the IELTS. It is possible because Duolingo uses artificial intelligence (人工智能) to test test takers' abilities, using fewer questions to measure their skills.
24.Why were TOEFL and the IELTS set up
A.To make people understand English speaking countries.
B.To help teachers to teach in colleges and universities in Europe.
C.To test an international applicant's level of English.
D.To help international applicants to improve their English.
25.When did Duolingo begin to use its own test of English language ability
A.In 1964. B.In 1989.
C.In 2012. D.In 2014.
26.Compared to TOEFL and the IELTS, Duolingo is ________.
A.widely used in English tests
B.a less difficult test
C.affordable and convenient
D.a face to face test
27.What is the author's purpose in writing the text
A.To introduce Duolingo.
B.To instruct us how to pass English tests.
C.To introduce overseas studying.
D.To promote English teaching.

My friend Tim was one of five children. His father was an alcoholic and died very young, and his mother was unable to support the family. Unfortunately, the children were separated and placed in foster homes(收养家庭).
Tim dropped out of school and did nothing to further himself. He eventually went through a divorce. Tim’s brother, although experiencing the same childhood, educated himself and got a good job. He has a happy family and a wonderful home.
Both brothers gave a similar answer when asked why their lives turned out the way they did. They said,“You’d turn out this way too if you had a childhood like mine. ” Neither of the brothers could change his past, but one of them adjusted(调整) his sail.
It doesn’t take much to find an excuse whether that is our family background, our lack of education,or that we live in the wrong city,or do not know the right people. Each one of these excuses has a solution. However,if you believe that there is nothing you can do to turn your life around, then you won’t be able to change your life for the better.
If you really desire to turn your life to a new course,to set your sail to a different port,it is a matter of choice. If you choose to move forward, the easiest way is to find a solution to your today’s situation. Solutions are there if you want to go after them. Sure,it may take some hard work,or the willingness to take a risk. But if you do not, then you will never have a different or happy life. Do not limit yourself by finding an excuse;only limit yourself by refusing to have an excuse.
28.Why does Tim’s brother have a happy life
A.He had a happy childhood. B.He tried hard to change his life.
C.He had a wonderful foster home. D.He was the smartest of his family.
29.What did Tim think led to his unhappy life
A.His laziness. B.Not adjusting his sail.
C.His unhappy childhood. D.Not having any opportunities.
30.In the author’s opinion,his friend Tim .
A.really had no chance to improve his life
B.failed because he lived in the wrong city
C.was the most unfortunate man in the world
D.could have changed his life if he had chosen to
31.What is the best title for the text
A.Adjust Your Sail B.Say “No” to Excuses
C.Move Towards a Happy Family D.How We Live Our Life is a Choice

San Francisco has some of the best restaurants anywhere—and one of the most unique, the top pizza restaurant in the city, is also one of the first to be owned and operated totally by deaf people.
Melody and Russell Stein opened the place in 2011. Their 900-degree wood-fired oven(炉) is the best they could find, and so is every ingredient, from sauce to sausage, to cheese, some of which come from Italy. “We also make it in-house,” said Melody. “And if that doesn’t make you hungry, I don’t know what will,” added Russell.
And for the customers who show up there night after night, food is only part of the experience. Unlike other restaurants, noise isn’t a problem, and neither is communication; pointing at the menu works just fine. And you can even phone in a takeout order. A green light on the wall signals an incoming call. An operator picks it up, and translates your order in sign language by a special TV.
But this is about a lot more than serving hungry customers.
Tracy Smith, a reporter, asked Melody, “How important is it to you to have an all-deaf staff ”
“Oh, it’s very important,” she replied. “If a hearing person, say, doesn’t get on well here, they can find a job tomorrow, while all the deaf people here have to look for years and still can’t find a job. That’s when I decided I would have a totally deaf team, even if they have no work experience.”
Melody comes from a restaurant-owning family from Hong Kong, and she met Russell at Gallaudet University.
Now they’re looking to franchise(获得特许经销权), with a little help from the Communication Service for the Deaf(CSD). It’s a good investment(投资), says CSD’s Brandi Rarus.
Rarus said, “People often think that deaf people don’t have much to offer, or are less valuable, or less worthy in some ways. But when you come to this place, you see that’s not true.”
32. How does Russell feel about the food in his restaurant
A. Confident.
B. Disappointed.
C. Surprised.
D. Uncertain.
33. Who is most likely to be employed by Russell’s restaurant
A. A food journalist.
B. A top university graduate.
C. A deaf girl with little work experience.
D. A man good at communicating with others.
34. What does Rarus think of Russell’s restaurant
A. It tops the local restaurants.
B. It will close down sooner or later.
C. It needs to employ hearing workers.
D. It makes people see things differently.
35. What can be the best title for the text
A. Enjoying Pizza in Russell’s Restaurant
B. The Rise of Deaf-owned Business
C. All-deaf Pizza Restaurant Is All-good
D. Building Bridges Through Communication
