Ecotourism is defined as "responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people." But it can be more than just that.
Ecotourism can also be done in urban areas.
Ecotourism is all about visiting new places in a responsible and eco-conscious way, whether such places are in a natural area or not. Urban ecotourism includes locally-owned restaurants that source seasonal ingredients from local growers, or spending time in national, regional and city parks. Use of public transport, bicycles, and ferries, is also part of urban ecotourism, as well as staying in locally-owned or green accommodations.
Where you go is important.
As an eco-tourist, how to get to your destination is just as important as where you stay for the night. Consider finding creative ways to enjoy your journey, like avoiding freeways and passing through scenic towns or taking the train and admiring the landscape through the window.
Ecotourism is just about nature.
Ecotourism is also about getting closer to the culture of your destination. On another note, ecotourism brings an opportunity for tourists to volunteer and provide assistance with a variety of projects such as monitoring local wildlife or restoring coral reefs. Volunteering gets you to know about your destination from a different perspective, establish new friendships, practice speaking new languages, and discover a new field of interest.
Ecotourism caters to(迎合)tourists.
Ecotourism is not just about getting away from the stress of life, but also allowing you to experience your destination through the eyes of locals. There are home-staying programs that connect travelers with families who are willing to host your stay for a few days and even show you around while you are there. The local family can provide you with inside advice on the best places to eat, hike, swim, and other sites worth visiting.
21. Which of the following belongs to ecotourism according to the text
A. Living in a hotel. B. Traveling by car. C. Staying in a park. D. Eating canned food
22. What volunteer activity can eco-tourists participate in
A. Taking notes of the local culture. B. Getting involved in local communities.
C. Sharing your interests with the locals. D. Helping watch and check local wildlife.
23. What is the advantage of taking part in a home-staying program
A. It saves you a lot of money. B. It gives you more to enjoy.
C. It makes your trip adventurous. D. It offers you everything.

School life can be hard for any child, but if you add severe learning difficulties into the mix, it can be unbearable. This was the case for William Carter, who really struggled throughout his primary education. To make things worse, he was laughed at by classmates for his learning difficulties.
At 13, he was still unable to read. However, when he was properly diagnosed with severe dyslexia and dyspraxia(诵读困难), his education turned around.
Carter managed to eventually gain a first-class degree in politics and international relations at Bristol University in England. After receiving a scholarship, he is now studying for a PhD in political geography at the University of California, Berkeley.
Carter spent so long without being properly diagnosed, which makes it even more difficult for him to study.
Yet as soon as the diagnosis is made, life becomes more bearable for the child, with lessons and materials adapted to give the kids like him a chance to grasp what they are trying to learn. The fact that Carter's achievements are so impressive demonstrates how capable kids with special needs truly are.
Carter seems almost grateful for his learning disabilities. He believes “fundamentally, dyslexia made me who I am today.” The Londoner's goal is to become a professor of political theory and Black geographies and then follow a career in politics. He aims to correct a system that he feels is lacking: "The fact that I, through luck and the support of others, ‘made it’ in spite of social-economic barriers, shouldn't justify our system and society.”
In appreciating the opportunities he was given, Carter will no doubt be a brilliant advocate for other children facing inequality at school and an inspiration for other youngsters and their parents.
24. What is the author's attitude toward Carter
A. Sympathetic. B. Admiring. C. Indifferent. D. Skeptical.
25. What brought about change in Carter's study
A. The routine he sticks to. B. The treatment of his disease.
C. Special help from the university. D. Adaptation of learning materials.
26. What might Carter be in the future
A. A speaker. B. A designer. C. A politician. D. An engineer.
27. Which part of the website does this text probably come from
A. Inspiring story. B. Medical knowledge. C. Political news. D. Campus life.

What if you used every spare minute you had to practice a skill Imagine having 2 hours of free time a day where you spend 30 minutes learning a new language, another 30 minutes drawing, another 30 minutes learning to cook, and another 30 minutes learning video editing or whatever else that interests you.
Now imagine doing this for an entire year. Do you realize how much more skilled you'd become at things or how much more talented and gifted you'd appear to other people Imagine if you had 4 or 8 hours a day What if you did this for a decade or two Even 30 minutes a day could create a huge change.
Many people believe Leonardo da Vinci was one of the greatest geniuses in human history. Perhaps a large part of his genius was a result of knowing how to spend the limited amount of time he had more wisely than anyone else.
I think we all know we could have been better than we are right now. Instead of throwing in the towel and letting the gap between where you are and where you could be increase, do what you can to keep it from expanding.
You don't even have to be the best at something to be seen as awesome. You just have to be better than most people and seeing that most people waste a lot of time, a little bit of time sacrifice and discipline can go a long way.
We all have a crazy amount of potential within us and although it's nearly impossible to reach our full potential, the least we can do is give it our best shot. All it takes is a plan and self-discipline.
You're the main character of your life's story; it's time to give your audience not only something to look forward to, but something to be inspired by.
28. What does the author think important in using spare time
A. Effect. B. Frequency. C. Amount. D. Persistence.
29. What does the underlined word "it" in paragraph 4 refer to
A. The gap. B. The towel. C. The time. D. The knowledge.

A. Everyone has different potentials. B. Anyone can be better than others.
C. It takes discipline to develop potentials. D. Each person has a talent for acting.
31. What can be the best title of this text
A. How to Learn More at Once B. How to Be Awesome at Something
C. How to Beat Your Competitor D. How to Play Save Your Time
D
Weather reports often mention high or low pressure systems headed toward a city or town. If you're in the path of one of these systems, expect a change in weather conditions. High and low pressure systems operate using similar principles, but the effects they produce differ significantly.
View a weather map, and you may see distinct regions that represent different air masses. An air mass is a region of air that has about the same humidity(湿度)and temperature throughout. When an air mass remains over a location for a while, it decides the characteristics of the region. Air masses can be cold or warm and they may contain wet or dry air. All air masses have the ability to move away from their source region into other locations.
Meteorologists(气象学家)call the boundary between two air masses a front. A cold front's motion through a warm front is a low-pressure system. If a cold air mass replaces a warm air mass, you have a cold front. Air in the cold air mass is often drier than air in front of it. As the air masses meet, the wind usually changes direction and rain or thunderstorms often occur.
A warm front is associated with a high-pressure system and occurs when a warm air mass replaces a colder air mass. A high-pressure system often brings clear, calm weather. Warm fronts travel slowly and are weaker than cold fronts.
Cold fronts move faster than warm fronts because a cold front contains denser air. Cold fronts also often travel from west to east while warm fronts move from north to south. As a warm front approaches, temperatures may rise as warmer air flows in from a warm air mass. However, when the cold front hits, temperatures can drop precipitously within a short time.
32. How is the temperature of a region under a certain air mass
A. Unusual. B. Stable. C. Diverse. D. Changeable.
33. What happens when two air masses meet
A. A clear sky appears. B. A strong wind is formed.
C. The air becomes wetter. D. The wind changes directions.
34. What does the underlined word "precipitously" in the last paragraph mean
A. Sharply. B. Slowly. C. Possibly. D. Specially.
35. What is mainly talked about in this text
A. The formation of air masses. B. The new findings of meteorologists.
C. The effects of air mass and fronts on weather. D. The methods for accurate weather forecasts.

Every day she would go to the forest along with her mother to collect woods. That day as usual Tara accompanied her mother to the forest and while her mother was busy collecting woods in the forest, Tara sat there on a piece of log looking at the beautiful trees and birds flying around it. Suddenly a cute little rabbit grabbed her attention and she ran towards the rabbit. As soon as the rabbit saw Tara coming close, it ran towards the jungle and Tara playfully began chasing the rabbit. Tara ran fast and finally caught hold of the rabbit. As soon as Tara held the rabbit in her arms, it suddenly disappeared from her hands and in the air appeared a beautiful fairy. The little girl was taken by surprise and she could not believe her eyes. She asked the fairy, “Who are you ”
The fairy told Tara that a wicked witch(女巫)had cursed her and transformed her into a rabbit. The witch told the fairy that she would return to her original form only if an innocent and kind-hearted person touches her. And when Tara touched the rabbit, the spell of the wicked witch was broken and the fairy was able to return to her original form. The fairy said to the little girl, "Ask for a wish, I will grant you the same.”
Tara could not say a single word as she could still not believe what she saw and heard just now. Understanding Tara's condition, the fairy gave her a magic stick and told Tara that whenever she wants her wish to be fulfilled, just wave the magic stick in the air and ask for the wish. 第一节
My English Teacher
Looking back on my three school years, I'd like to convey my gratitude to Ms. Wang, my English teacher. She is kind, humorous and knowledgeable and treats us as friends. I used to hate English because of my poor grades. Ms. Wang found my disadvantage and encouraged me. She said she trusted me and helped me with a lot of practice. Gradually, I became more confident. With her help, I can speak fluent English in front of people now.
To sum up, I'd like to express my sincere gratitude to Ms. Wang once again. Without her help, I could not have made such big progress.
第二节
When Tara and her mother came back home, they saw a badly injured baby elephant lying in front of her house. Tara ran up to the baby elephant and saw that it was bleeding and crying in pain. Tara did not understand what to do to help that poor baby elephant. Suddenly she remembered the magic stick given to her by the fairy and she jumped for joy. Tara swirled the magic stick in the air and asked the magic stick to cure the baby elephant and relieve it from the pain.
And suddenly the baby elephant's wound disappeared. The baby elephant stood up and began to walk around happily. Tara felt nice that she was able to help the baby elephant. Just at that moment, the fairy appeared in front of Tara and told her that she was extremely pleased by the kind deed of Tara and promised that she could make whatever she wished come true. But Tara cared little for being rich. She decided to help more people and animals.

Text 10
Hi there, I'm Hilary. This is our Monday broadcast, which is intended to help you become fluent in the English language. Lots of people start off on the journey of learning English. Far fewer actually become fluent. But we are here to help you—and plenty of practice of understanding English is what you need to become fluent.
So let's look at the weather. Well, this weekend much of Britain has been recovering from Storm Callum. A storm means bad weather—strong winds and heavy rain. And Storm Callum hit on Friday—coming from the same direction that most of our storms do. The storms come from the west, across the Atlantic Ocean and Ireland is the first to get the weather front. A weather front means a band of weather—one of these systems which usually travels from West to East. Anyway in the Southeast of England where I live, Storm Callum just meant that it got pretty windy on Friday and over the weekend. Lots of autumn leaves were blowing about and a few branches have come down off the trees.
