一、教学内容：
六年级上册《Unit4 Then and now》
二、目标预设：
（一）知识目标：
1. 能听懂、会说、会读、会写单词ago, use, telephone, office, mobile phone, anywhere, radio, newspaper, watch, e-book及词组then and now, make friends, all over the world, do shopping.
2.能正确掌握并学会运用句型…year(s) ago, …was/could/couldn’t/didn’t…和Now…
（二）技能目标：
1. 能正确理解课文内容，并能朗读、初步复述。在此基础上能正确运用句型…year(s) ago, …was/could/couldn’t/didn’t…和Now…进行口语表达。
2. 在复习过去式的语法基础上，能进一步理解和掌握过去式的表达。
3. 能运用过去和现在进行比较，再次复习过去式的构成规则。
（三）情感目标：
感受日新月异的科技发展，激起热爱生活的情感。
三、重点、难点：
重点：
1. 单词ago, use, telephone, mobile phone, anywhere, radio, newspaper, e-book及词组then and now, make friends, all over the world的教学。
2. 句型…year(s) ago, …was/could/couldn’t/didn’t…的教学。
难点：
在理解课文内容的基础上能正确运用句型…year(s) ago, …was/could/couldn’t/didn’t…和Now…进行口语表达。
四、设计理念：
《英语课程标准》中明确指出，义务教育阶段的英语课程应面向全体学生，体现以学生为主体的思想，主要目的是为学生发展综合语言运用能力打基础，强调语言学习的实践性，鼓励学生在教师的指导下，通过体验、实践、参与、探究和合作等方式，发现语言规律，逐步掌握语言知识和技能，发展自主学习能力。
五、教学过程：
Step1: Warm up
1. Greeting
T: Class begins. Good morning, boys and girls
S: Good morning, Miss Zhou.
2. Game: Brain storming
T: Before our class, let’s have a “Brain storming” game first.
Please tell the past verb of the following verbs quickly.
S: 快速说出所呈现动词的过去式。
3. Free talk
T: Say something about me！（利用刚刚出示的动词，老师讲讲关于自己的情况）
My hair is short.
I often buy things on the Internet. I can read books.
I write letters to my e-friends.
Ask students to say something about the English teacher.
S: Her hair is…
She can speak English well.
She can teach…
T: How about me twenty years ago Guess!
Let Ss see some pictures about me 20 years ago and then give them four T/F questions.
Q1: My hair was long. (T/F)
Q2: I could speak English. (T/F)
Q3: I chatted with my friends on the Internet. (T/F)
Q4: I couldn’t use English to write. (T/F)
Step 2 Pre-reading
1. Look and guess
T: Now you know the changes about me, right？How about the other people Let’s see.
A. Six years ago, this boy could read, now he can
play football.
B. 20 years ago, this man wrote letters, now he
call people with the mobile phone.
C. 30 years ago, this old man read newspaper,
now he reads e-books.
D. 20 years ago, this woman made friends at school,
now she has e-friends.
T: Boys and girls, please tell me who are they according to this passage
S:(answer the questions)They are Mike, Mr Brown,
Grandpa and Mrs Brown.
T: Yes, today we are going to learn the passage
about them.
2. Think and choose
T: What is the title of the passage
Think and do the A/B/C choice.
S: B: Then and now.
T: You’re right, and it means过去和现在
Step 3 While reading
1. Learn Mike’s part
a. Read and underline
T: Boys and girls, please read paragraph one individually. Use“～～”to underline what Mike could/couldn’t do in the past, and use“——”to underline what he can do now.
S: (read and underline) Six years ago, Mike could read and draw, but he could not write. Now he can do many things.
b. Teach: Here couldn’t =could not. (指导学生朗读)
c．Read and answer
What could Mike do What can he do now
S: He could read and draw. Now he can do many things.
d. Read together
T: Let’s read Mike’s part together.
S: Read Mike’s part together.
2. Learn Mr Brown’s part
a. Read and underline
T: Now let’s see Mr Brown’s part, please read paragraph two individually. Use“～～”to underline what Mr Brown could/couldn’t do in the past, and use“——”to underline what he can do now.
S: (read and underline) Twenty years ago, Mr Brown
wore letters to his friends. He used the telephone at home and in the office to call people.
Now he has a mobile phone and he can call
people anywhere. He also writes e-mails.
b．Pair work: discuss and answer
Q1:How did Mr Brown contact people and call people？
Q2:How does Mr Brown contact people and how does he call people now
S: discuss in pairs and answer the questions.
c. Think and choose
T: Look at the word “anywhere”, what’s the meaning
Choose from A or B.

T: Yes. It means 任何地方。
d. Fill in the blanks
T: Please work in pairs and fill in the blanks.
S: Fill in the blanks and check the answer.
e. Read together
T: Now let’s read this part together.
3. Learn Grandpa’s part
a. Learn to read
T: Now let’s learn the changes about grandpa.
Boys and girls when we read a passage, we can
use these ways: （choose one way according to your own）
(1)自读，用“～～”划出过去，用“——”划出现在。
(2)思考问题：How did he read news 30 years ago
What about now
(3)自主阅读这部分短文。
(4)说一说: 尝试用自己的话复述这部分短文内容。(加星星)

b. Work in groups
T: Look at the pictures：a radio, a newspaper,
Internet and e-books. Here are four questions about
them, work in a group of four and discuss.

c. Read together

4. Learn Mrs Brown’s part
a. read and retell
T: Boys and girls, let’s use the fourth way to learn the last part. Try to retell this part using
your own words.
S: Twenty years ago, Mrs Brown made friends at
school, and she bought things from shops.
Now she has e-friends from all over the world
and she buys things on the Internet.
b. Think and answer

Step 4 Post-reading
1. Listen and repeat
Let the Ss listen to the tape and imitate.
2. Fill in the blanks (Page38)
3. Think and conclude
Ask Ss to work in pairs, think and conclude the changing rules of the past tense.
4. Retell the story
T: Work in a group of four. Each one chooses one part
to read. And use the phrases on the blackboard to make a report about your part.
Step 5：Show　Time
T: Welcome to our TV station. I am the host. Today’s talk show is about “Then and now”.
Four students cooperate in a group, one act as the host and interview the other three.
S: 四人一组，进行采访，上台表演。
T: Now, please write down your “then and now” on your paper.
S: Write and discuss.
Step 6：Assignment
1. Listen and read Story time for at least three times.
2. Retell Story time on P38.
3. Find out Sheng Ze’s “then and now” and discuss with your classmates after class.
