Title Unit 5 Signs Type Story time
The Analysis of Teaching Content This story mainly deals with rules. The characters in this story go to a shopping centre. They see some signs and talk about them. Our students will be able to focus on the public signs and discuss them. Students will learn how to give others advice like:You cannot...and how to ask and answer about signs like: What does it mean It means...They will be able to obey the rules and be a polite person.
The Analysis of Students The students of Grade 6 have learned English for about 3 years. They have already mastered certain basic language knowledge. Most of them are interested in English learning. They are curious about new things. They are eager to behave themselves, full of competitiveness. But some students have problems in English learning. The teacher should pay attention to stimulating their interests in English and helping them gain self confidence. What is more, good study habits and effective learning strategies should be developed under the guidance of the teacher.
Teaching Objectives Knowledge and skills 1. Students will be able to know the meaning of “sign, mean, wet floor, no littering, no eating or drinking, no smoking and pronounce them correctly. 2. Students will be able to talk about the signs using the sentence patterns like:What does it mean It means...
Process and method 1. Students will be able to form the good learning habits and get the effective reading strategies. For example, Key words and key sentences can help us find the answers. 2. Students will be able to talk about different signs in real communication.
Emotional attitude and values 1. Students will be able to know the importance of rules and obey the rules. 2. Students will be able to be a polite citizen.
Key Points Get effective reading strategies from the teaching steps. Know some common signs and talk about them with others.

Have students skim the story and find out “How many shops do they go to and what are they Have students listen to Mike and think: What is happening Then watch the video and answer: What sign do they see What does it mean (3）Have students predict the sign the characters see in the juice shop and then read paragraph 2 to find the answer. (4）Have students read paragraph3 and find the answer “Can Helen take the juice into the bookshop Why Have students read paragraph4 and find the answer “What are they eating When they are eating, what is happening Have students watch the video then role read the dialogues with the partner. Have students discuss the signs in the park then make up a new dialogue for some places. Listen and read the story. Know more signs around us and write them down. Students get to know the teacher. 2. Students get to know today's topic. (1) Students read the story quickly and find out the shops. （2）Students watch the video of the first scene, After watching, they find the sign the characters see and know the meaning of it. (3)Students predict what sign the characters see in the juice shop and then read paragraph 2 to find the answer. (4) Read paragraph3 and find the answer. (5) Read paragraph3 and find the answer. Students enjoy the whole story then role read the dialogues. Students think and discuss carefully then make up a new dialogue. 让学生认识老师。 让学生知道什么是shopping centre，引出今天的topic,呈现新词。 (1) 整体感知故事，了解故事发生的场景。 （2）通过听，感受通过不同的语调，故事人物所要表达的情感，通过认真观看视频找出问题答案。 通过预设、提问吸引学生去细度课文，找出问题的答案，内化语言知识。 仿读对话，体会故事中人物的语言特点，为后面的post reading 环节做好准备。 让学生小组合作，思考并讨论，发挥想象，在真实的环境中运用语言知识。 引导学生多观察，多思考，做一个遵守规则的文明人。
