I’m Li Hua from Chen Guang High School. I’m writing to contribute to the column “Online Teaching” in Chen Guang Daily. Recently, COVID-19 has transmitted all over China even the world. In order to fight against the virus, the students in China have to study at home on computers instead of going to school.
As for online teaching, it has two sides. On the one hand, it not only can release teachers from repeating the same contents and students can replay the teaching materials as well. Besides, after class, we can watch the video again and review the part which we don’t understand. On the other hand, online teaching lacks teacher-student interactions and people doubt if students have self-discipline without supervision. For instance, some students will cheat in class. While they are having class, they are playing computer games at the same time!
As for me, although online classes are a better option when it comes to the special situation at the moment, I prefer to study in class because what students acquire at school is more than knowledge. Thank you for your reading.

My Views On Studying Abroad
More and more Chinese middle school students have gone abroad to study since the 1990s. As many language learners say, spending a time abroad is the best way to study a language. Studying abroad may have a lot of advantages. The students usually become fluent in the language and can make friends with people from different backgrounds and have a good knowledge of another culture. They can also broaden their horizons and improve their understanding of their own culture while studying abroad. Besides, they have to learn to depend on themselves.
Of course, studying abroad may have its disadvantages as well. It is possible that some of them may fall behind in their studies. On the other hand, some students may feel it unsafe to stay abroad on their own. Moreover, their parents may be concerned about the cost.
In my opinion, the students had better finish their college education in China and the go abroad to experience another education and culture. If parents do hope to send their children to study abroad, I advise them to look before they leap.

Personally, I think the over-consumption of plastics is the most serious environmental problem in our life. Whether at markets or restaurants, plastic is frequently used in people’s daily life. We take our groceries home from the supermarkets in plastic bags. We put our waste in plastic bags. We drink from plastic cups and bottles. We use plastic to store our leftovers. Yet, a lot of these plastics are never recycled, which harms the environment. Animals and birds that swallow plastic could die as a result, and the plastics that end up in landfills pollute the earth's soil and water.
Facing such a situation, I believe it's everyone’s duty to be more environmentally aware and "Go Green". As for me, I will reduce the use of plastics in my daily life. For example, I won’t use plastic straws. Also, I will ask my family and friends to use cloth shopping bags in the supermarket. I believe that with everyone's individual effort, these problems can be solved.

Today we had a class meeting at which we had a hot discussion about whether students should attend lessons at weekends. Opinions are varied among the students.
Some students are in favor of attending such lessons. They hold the opinion that they can review and consolidate what they have learnt at school, which as a result, makes their study much better. What' more, attending lessons at weekends offers them a good opportunity to taste different teaching styles so that they can always remain interested in the subjects. In addition, it is also a good way for them to develop their interest in different aspects to make their life more colorful and interesting.
However, some students are against it. They think that after having taken lessons at school for a week, such lessons can only make them feel much more tired and have no efficiency on their study. They also point out that it usually adds the economy burden to their parents if their families are not rich enough, because the fees for such lessons are often high. Besides, it usually takes their parents much time to take them to and from the lessons.
In my opinion, it is not necessary for us to take such lessons. If we can make full use of the time we spend on our own school lessons, it is enough for us to grasp the things we are taught. At weekends, we can relax ourselves and refresh our minds to make good preparations for the study next week.
