It was late, about 10:15 p.m., when Janice Esposito arrived at the Bellport, New York, train station. She jumped into her car; and began the 20-minute drive home. Having traveled the route so many times, she practically drove on autopilot. But suddenly, out of nowhere, a car crashed into Esposito 5s mmivan, pushing her backward onto the railroad tracks. She sat in the minivan, totally shocked by the impact and by the vehicle's airbags.
As it happens, Pete DiPinto was getting ready for bed when he heard the high-pitched noise of the crash. A volunteer firefighter and retired teacher, DiPinto, never stopped to think. He ran out the door, still clad in his pyjamas.
The first car he came upon, 2,000 feet from his front yard, was the one that had hit Esposito. Once DiPinto concluded the driver was OK, he looked around and spotted Esposito's minivan lying on the railroad tracks. And then he heard an unpleasant sound: the bells signaling an oncoming train.
"The gates were starting to come down/5 he told Newsday. t(I see the headlight of the train." DiPinto sprinted to EspositoJs minivan and banged on the driver's side window. She just looked at him, her eyes unfocused. T don't know where I am," she said. She seemed unhurt.
“You're on the railroad tracks," DiPinto shouted. t6We have to get you off right now!" He pulled the handle, but the door was smashed in and jammed shut. The heavy train, traveling at 65 miles per hour, was running toward them. DiPinto ran to the passenger side and threw open the door. He grabbed Esposito 5s arms, and managed to pull her out across the passenger seat. Within six seconds, the train plowed into the minivan. Tt was like a Hollywood movie," DiPinto told reporters the next day.
But this one had a twist. "Last night," South Country Ambulance chief Greg Miglino told CBS New York, “the hero arrived in pajamas, not in a fire truck.^,

By breaking the window of the driver's side.
What does Greg Miglino mean by saying "the hero arrived in pajamas, not in a fire truck."
DiPinto is a real hero for he didn't care about himself when helping others.
It was easy for DiPinto to save Esposito for he just did it in pajamas.
DiPinto didn't have a fire truck when he tried to save Esposito.

Chinese Literature Readers' Club was recently launched in Beijing in a bid to promote the country's literature around the world.
Initiated by China Writers Association, literature organizations and Chinese literature lovers overseas, this club will provide a platform for communication about, and the exchange 西 literature from home and abroad.
Speaking at the launch ceremony in August, Tie Ning, head of China Writers Association, said that reading, appreciating and exchanging ideas about literary works from a country will help to break through ignorance, isolation and prejudices, enabling people to not be blinded by stereotypical views and really be able to understand a country's historical origins, cultural context, social development and philosophical ideas.
She added that it also allows people to spiritually get close to, and understand, the rich emotional world of the people there and their vibrant life, and to feel that "we are all a part of a community with a shared future for mankind".
Chinese literature has a history of “several thousand years", including countless jewels that can be called an inheritance of human civilization that can be kept as pennanent memories, as well as excellent modem and contemporary works that can arouse empathy in readers around the world. However, few Chinese writers are really known by readers in other countries, apart from those who have won mtemational literary awards, Tie noted.
“It is, therefore, our common cultural mission to establish Chinese Literature Readers5 Club to introduce Chinese literature to the world, and to increase the mutual understanding and friendship between different peoples/5 Tie said.
The clubs in different countries will build a bridge for overseas readers to get in touch with contemporary Chinese literature and its writers. They will organize events, both online and in-person, through local educational institutions, publishing houses, libraries, traditional media and social media networks.
So far, the club has set up branches in 12 countries — Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey, Iran, Russia, Poland, Serbia, Germany, France, Britain and Chile.
Why was Chinese Literature Readers5 Club set up
To help Chinese writers sell more books.
To inspire more people to become writers.
To spread Chinese literature to other countries.
To invite more foreign writers to write in China.
What can we infer about Chinese literature
It is hard for foreign readers to understand.
It lacks modem and contemporary works.
It is not so good as foreign literature.
It is not very popular in the world.
How does the Club work
By building bridges in other countries.
By organizing different kinds of activities.
By getting in touch with readers online.
By setting up branches within the country.
Which is the best title of the passage
Future Road Reshaped for Chinese Readers
Chinese Literature Gets Boost from New Book Club
Chinese Literature Needs New Blood from the World
Measures Should Be Taken to Protect Chinese Literature

On a bright August morning, Bas Huijbregts found himself somewhere he never expected to be: in a helicopter surveying a small number of black rhinos in Namibia's Etosha National Park. As the chopper drew closer to the ground, Huijbregts focused on the task at hand: to mark each of the large mammals with a bright paintball splash.
Every year, during the dry season, park management and Namibia's government undertake a weeks-long operation to count all the park's rhinos. Given the vastness of the area, the count is done by air, and the animals are marked with paint to keep track of those that have already been counted.
Huijbregts, then the newly appointed manager of African species conservation at WWF, was passing through the park when he received an impromptu invitation to join in the count. Over the dinner, chief warden Pierre Du Preez asked Huijbregts if he knew how to play paintball.
"My answer was no!" recalls Huijbregts with a laugh. <(I was so nervous. But it was the most amazing experience I've had with rhinos. It was sort of a boy's dream, a cowboy thing to do.”
Huijbregts Js experience was all the more remarkable given that just 20 years earlier encountering a black rhino was incredibly rare 一 fewer than 2,500 individuals remained in eastern and southern Africa. Due to intense poaching, 96% of the population was wiped out between 1970 and 1990.
Today, black rhino numbers have more than doubled, thanks to concerted conservation efforts by the government, local nonprofits, and the communities who manage the land. Today, Namibia is home to the largest black rhino population, with Etosha being "the biggest stronghold in the country," says Huijbregts. "They are a huge success story for the world."
But rhinos in other parts of the world, are still critically endangered. Thafs why WWF, together with governments, communities, and other partners, is working hard to safeguard the remaining rhinos, expand their populations, and protect their habitats.
Why did Bas Huijbregts fly in a helicopter

Asking the right questions is basically the magic key to any kind of personal or professional development. But it can be hard for many people. 36
Start by asking yourself
The most important aspect is to actually start by asking yourself the right kind of questions. 37 These are often "how" questions such as "How can I make a better job " Avoid asking questions which focus on why you're in such a bad situation and absolutely ignore the possibility of a solution, for examples, “Why can't I be lucky for once "
38
Once you've managed to ask yourself the right questions, ifs time to focus on whom to address it to. To promote effective learning, you need to ask the right people. These are people who have gone before you and who have achieved what you want to achieve. It doesn't have to be in person. Reading their books and wondering "What made them successfill " is also a great way to start.
Ask open-ended questions
It's important to phrase your questions the right way. That means asking open-ended questions. 39 So by asking open-ended questions, you allow them to share as much as possible. Great open-ended questions are: "how did you achieve (a milestone) " "what are the best tools to be successful ^, Make sure to enter your specific goal or their success in those questions.
Focus on the solution
40 Your subconscious will automatically guide you towards what you're focusing on. If you're focusing on what could go wrong, you'll end up right there! If you focus on solutions and see struggles as opportunities to learn more, you'll always find solutions for any kind of problem. So, asking the right questions is all about being solution-oriented and focusing on the opportunities rather than the risks.
Ask the right people
Ask people in person
People always avoid private topics.
