Teaching aims:
After the class, students are able to
observe the words: dinner tiger sister water computer and summarize the pronunciation rule -- er / /.
listen to the chant and repeat.
spell words according to the pronunciation rule.
Analysis of the students:
Students in Grade 4 already have a basic command of English. They have mastered a certain vocabulary. They can summarize the pronunciation rule by observing the words: dinner tiger sister water computer . It can help students improve their ability of speaking and writing. It will also lay the foundation for future learning in junior high school.
Key and difficult points:
(1)Guide students to summarize the pronunciation rule .
(2)Guide students to spell other words containing er in the end using the pronunciation rule.

Greet students.

Listen and sing a song “Our school”.

Teacher shows a picture and asks students:Is this a classroom
Students:No, it isn’t .It’s a computer room.
[Purpose: Review the words about school we learned last class and prepare for the content we will learn.]
Step Ⅲ Presentation and Practice
1.Teacher shows some pictures .Students speak out the words by guessing: dinner tiger sister water computer .
[Purpose: Guide students to speak out the words .Guessing game can attract their attention and inspire them to speak out the key words.]
2.Students observe and read the words:dinner tiger sister water computer . Then students discuss and summarize the pronunciation rule -- er / /.
[Purpose: Guide students to summarize the pronunciation rule by themselves. Students can learn English by their experience and observation.]
Brainstorming
Students recall and say more words ending with”er’.

Teacher plays the video of the chant .Students listen carefully and follow for the first time. Then students chant by themselves for the second time.
[Purpose: Guide students to master the words ending with ‘er’ by chanting .]
3. Look, choose and spell
Teacher shows different pictures . Students look at the picture ,choose the suitable word and then spell it.
[Purpose:Encourage students to read and use the words .Students can remember the words better by applying the pronunciation rule.]
Task4:Look, listen and write
Students look at the picture ,listen to the recording and write down the words
[Purpose:Encourage students to use the words into real situation and consolidate the pronunciation rule.]
