这里主要考查两大知识点：
1. take的用法。
2. 一般过去时的变句，如何针对一个具体的情况进行提问，本句涉及how long的用法。
根据下文的答语：
It took about nine hours to get there. 我们可以研究变句的一般规律。
针对划线部分提问分三步：第一，把划线部分变成特殊疑问词；第二，将剩余的部分转换成一个一般疑问句；第三，将转换好的两个部分合二为一。
take在这里表示的是“花费”，其所涉及的句式为：
It takes + 人 + 时间 + to do something
