A European Union programme is letting blind people experience famous paintings for the first time. It uses three dimensional (3-D)printing to recreate famous paintings so that they can be touched.
One painting printed with the new technology is Gustav Klimt's The Kis. It is a popular attraction at the Belvedere Museum in Vienna, Austria. The painting shows a man and a woman standing in a field filed with flowers. They are wearing gold robes and have their arms around each other. The man leans down to kiss the woman.
Klimt finished the painting in 1908. Until now. people who have trouble seeing cannot enjoy the artwork. But thanks to the reproduction(复制品)they can touch the piece and feel the ridges(隆起)and depressions(凹陷). Andreas Reichinger started making 3-Dversions of artwork in 2010. He said this reproduction was his most difficult project because the couple's robes are so detailed(精细的).
Dominika Raditsch is a blind museum visitor. She touched the reproduction. As she moved her hands around it, she said, "Exactly, can you see these There are so many details. "Raditsch said she can imagine what the original painting looks like when she touches the reproduction. "It's somehow round. You can feel it. It comes with it. And in many places it's so smooth. And then I think to myself it probably shines too!" Raditsch said.
The Belvedere is not the only museum to have 3-D versions of its artworks. Some of the pieces at the Prado, in Madrid, Spain, have reproductions that can be touched. But the piece in Vienna has one special part: it is made with widely available 3-D printing technology. That means one day, blind art fans anywhere in the world could download the source files and print the reproductions themselves.

Photographer Lindsey Villatoro gave one family the most beautiful gif. She organized a fake wedding ceremony so that a terminal(不治的)ill father could walk his Il-year-old daughter down the aisle.
Jim Zetz, 62, was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and knew that he wouldn't be around for all the big moments in his daughter Josie's life. So when Villatoro heard about the family's heartbreaking story, she decided to do something special for them.
"One day you'll wake up and realize you're given the opportunity to change someone's life for the better, "Villatoro wrote in the description of the wedding video. "If you get an idea, don't think twice and run with it. It was an honour doing this for them. "
Villatoro first met Zetz and his family when she was invited to take one of their final family photos together. When Zetz's wife mentioned that Josie was upset that her father wouldn't be around for "memories down the line", Villatoro decided to help out.
Amazingly, the photographer managed to organize a mini-wedding in the family's backyard within 72 hours! With the help of financial contributions from the local community, she gathered a wedding cake, a dress, flowers, and make-up for the little girl. Friends, family, and even strangers attended the event to show their support.
"Your dad may not live to see you get married, but he is here to walk you down the aisle today, "Gary Galbraith, the pastor(牧师), said in the ceremony. "The daddy and daughter relationship is one of the most special relationships in life. "
At the ceremony Zetz placed a ring on Josie's finger as the pastor called them "daddy and daughter". Josie's mini-wedding coincided(同时发生)with her 11th birthday. Her mother said, "I knew it would be her last birthday with her dad. If I were Josie, this would be the best gif anyone could give. "

Black holes were first put forward by Albert Einstein in 1916. However, scientists had not proved their existence directly. That changed on April 10, 2019, with the release of the first photo of a black hole in the centre of the galaxy(星系)M87, located 55 million light years from Earth.
The photo does not show the black hole itself. That's because they are black and so they can't be seen in space. The scientists used radio signals to capture(拍摄) the black hole's "shadow"—the bright ring that forms around its edge, when light bends because of the extreme gravity around the hole.
The M87 black hole, believed to have a mass 6. 5 billion times that of our sun, was captured using the Event Horizon Telescope(EHT)——a network of eight powerful telescopes(望远镜). The telescopes, located in Hawaii, Arizona, Chile, Mexico, Spain and Antarctica, separately captured the black hole's radio signals over four nights in April 2017, when the weather was fine in all six places. This data was transported to a centre where it was dealt with by a supercomputer to form the photo of the black hole's shadow. The researchers say while the photo is slightly blurry, future photos will be clearer as more telescopes are added to the EHT. Black holes are not easy to capture on camera because they are surrounded by thick dusty and hot gases.
Black holes are areas in space where the pulling strength of gravity is so powerful that even light is unable to escape. They can be different widely in size and mass. The smallest, called "primordial" black holes are as small as a single atom but with a mass of a big mountain. "Stellar" black holes, which are the most common, have a diameter(直径)of about 10 miles and a mass 20 times that of our sun. The largest or "supermassive" black holes, similar to that of M87's, can have a mass greater than millions, or even billions of suns combined.
l2. What can we infer from the first paragraph
A. Einstein's prediction about black holes is right.
B. Einstein captured the black hole a century ago.
C. Scientists haven't proved black holes' presence.
D. The black hole has been known for centuries.
13. What did the scientists use to capture the black hole's "shadow"
A. Moon light. B. Natural light. C. Radio signals. D. Sound waves.
14. What does the underlined word "blurry" in the third paragraph probably mean
A. Not big. B. Not clear. C. Not new. D. Not attractive.
15. What can we know about the M87 black hole
A. It is almost empty. B. It is the smallest one. C. It is very bright. D. It is very large.

New Year was just around the corner. I was in the second grade then, 7 years old. One day, on my way home from school, aleady gave me a piece of paper saying that the neighbourhood was asking people to give New Year presents to those who needed them. When I got home, I showed my mother the paper and said that I wanted to take part in this plan. My mother thought this was a very good idea and encouraged me to spread kindness to others less fortunate than us. She said we would become "Neighbourhood Angels(天使)".
Several days later, my mother said, "Get ready, and we will go. ""Where are we going " I asked my mother. "I will drive you to Boots Department Store to buy something that you think would be suitable for a neighbourhood present, "she replied. As we went into the store, my mother gave me f20 to pay for the present. Then she said, "I’ll se you outside in the car. "She left me alone to do the shopping. I was not used to buying things on my own, as I had always been with one of my parents before. Everything seemed very strange and confusing to me, but I carried on. I asked myself what I should buy and for whom. An idea quickly occurred to me. There was a poor boy called Ralph who lived in our neighbourhood. I used to see him often without a jacket during the freezing winter months, so I decided, then and there, to buy him a warm jacket.
I looked at many jackets and eventually chose a heavy blue one. The price was just within my spending limit. The assistant at the checkout asked, "Is this for someone ", as I paid for the jacket happily. I said it was, and she wished me a Happy New Year. I felt as if I were a real "Neighbourhood Angel"

Dear Peter
After reading your last letter, I am sorry to learn that you are feeling upset because of failing in exams recently.
Personally, as middle school students, we all should take many exams and it is natural to experience failures sometimes, so there is no need to feel too bad. Instead, cheer up and find ways to reduce your worries. Why not go on an outing with your friends or find time to listen to your favourite music What's more, it's better to explore a new learning method which is better and more suitable for you. You can also turn to your teachers for help.
So long as you improve your ways of learning and work harder, I am sure you will succeed in the near future.
Yours,
Li Hua
第二节 读后续写
One possible version:
That evening, my mother helped me pack the jacket in beautiful paper: She wrote "To Ralph, from a person who cares about you" on it, after which she drove me over to Ralph's house in the neighbourhood. My mother parked down the street. I took a deep breath and dashed to his front door. Seeing no other people notice us, I threw the New Year's present down on his steps, pressed his door bell and then hid in the car.
My mother and I waited breathlessly for Ralph's front door to open and finally it opened. Out came Ralph. Seeing the jacket, he looked astonished and then called his mother to come out. After hearing them say "Thanks" loudly, I felt very proud of what I had done. At that time I decided to be a good person spreading kindness forever. It was on that night that I realized the truth that he who has no kindness in his heart will never find kindness in someone else's.
