How to Give Feedback(反馈) That People Will Listen to
If we want to grow as people, we can’t just rely on our own evaluation of how we’re doing.1.Receiving feedback from others can help us see the bigger picture and show us a path forward to success. However, someone has to give that feedback, and sometimes, that someone will be you. How should you approach this
2.If you wait until the matter fades from the person’s mind, they might no understand what you’re trying to tell them. Feedback should be clear and well timed, or it’s likely to be ignored.
When you’re giving feedback, it’s important to keep in mind that no one likes to be told they’re doing a bad job. Make sure you give an equal amount to positive feedback to balance out anything negative.3.
All good feedback shares a few key elements. First, it should help accomplish a specific goal. It’s less useful to tell your friend that their dish tastes “interesting”' than it is to suggest adding a little salt to improve the flavor.
Feedback should also look toward the future.4.Tell your friend they should take more notes in class instead of talking about how they should have studied harder for the big biology exam they failed.
Finally, don’t assume your suggestion is the only correct way to deal with a situation. Consider other points of view and keep your ego(自我)under control. You might even end up with some feedback on your feedback.5.
A.Use actual facts to support the point you are making.
B.We also need to know what other people think about our performance.
C.Like the saying goes, “A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.”
D.Don’t take it personally -- it can only help you give better advice next time.
E.The point of giving feedback is to motivate the other person to perform better.
F.You can’t change what’s already happened, but you can prevent it from happening again.
G.If you spot a situation in which sonic feedback would be helpful, give it as soon as you can

1.上文“If we want to grow as people, we can’t just rely on our own evaluation of how we’re doing.”(如果我们想要成长,我们不能只依赖于自己对自己做得如何的评价,)也就是说,我们也要注意别人的评价。下文“Receiving feedback from others can help us see the bigger picture and show us a path forward to success.” B项“We also need to know what other people think about our performance.”
2.上文“However, someone has to give that feedback, and sometimes, that someone will be you. How should you approach this ” (然而,总得有人给出反馈,有时候,这个人就是你。 下文“If you wait until the matter fades from the person’s mind, they might no understand what you’re trying to tell them.” 可以推知,空格处应是建议人们及时的对别人进行反馈,而G项“If you spot a situation in which sonic feedback would be helpful, give it as soon as you can.”
3.上文“When you’re giving feedback, it’s important to keep in mind that no one likes to be told they’re doing a bad job. Make sure you give an equal amount to positive feedback to balance out anything negative.” Like the saying goes, “A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.”(俗话说得好,一勺糖能把药吞下去。)
4.上文“Feedback should also look toward the future.” 下文“Tell your friend they should take more notes in class instead of talking about how they should have studied harder for the big biology exam they failed.” 而F项“You can’t change what’s already happened, but you can prevent it from happening again.”
5.上文“Finally, don’t assume your suggestion is the only correct way to deal with a situation. Consider other points of view and keep your ego under control. You might even end up with some feedback on your feedback.” D项“Don’t take it personally -- it can only help you give better advice next time.”

Beach volleyball is one of those sports that can be an exciting game to play and watch. It’s really easy, and all you need is sand,a net and a group of people,of any age or fitness level, who want to have fun.
Beach volleyball can be played with as few as two people in each team, making a total of four people. However,if you are less skilled and experienced in the game,it will be easier to play with a larger team. The more players you have, the less ground each person will be responsible for covering and the more time they will have to recover between shots. If you only have a few players, each of you will get a lot of running for the ball after each volley(截球).If you are looking for a relaxing,fun,low-key experience, choose larger teams.
Beach volleyball is similar to regular volleyball in its rules. However, even experienced volleyball players do not realise how much more difficult it is to run and jump on sand.Since it is harder to move quickly on sand than a hard surface, play will be much slower than regular volleyball on a court. When an athlete trains for beach volleyball,he will focus on building lower body strength as well as upper body strength.Strengthening his legs is extremely important. This improves the player’s ability to move quickly and accurately on sand despite the resistance. The ability to jump high and land without injury is necessary for beach volleyball players.
Whether you are in it for the competition,or just to have a great time with your friends, beach volleyball can be very exciting and fun.You may start out with friends and may soon fall in love with the sport.
4.When playing beach volleyball,in which situation will you feel most relaxed

Scientists have implanted memories into the brins of birds, helping young zebra finches to learn a song normally taught to them by their fathers. 1. Like humans, zebra finches learn how to vocalize by imitating their parents. By listening to them sing, young birds memorize the notes.
“2 .” Todd Roberts, from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, told Newsweek. “In fact, there are amazing similarities between songbirds learning their song and the early stages of speech learning."
Roberts, together with colleagues, used “optogenetic manipulation"— where light is used to monitor and control brain activity—to guide the learning of songs. 3. In this way, memories of syllables of a song were created—the length of a note agrees with the length of light exposure.
As a result, they guided the learning of the zebra finch with these implanted memories. Their findings are published in the journal Science.
“We learn many behaviors during development by copying the behavior of our parents, older siblings or teachers. 4. But our research in young songbirds shows that select synapses connecting sensory and motor circuits play a powerful role in laying down these types of memories and that activation of these connections in the brain can help form memories that can guide learning. We were very surprised by the outcome of our experiments," Roberts said.
Roberts said it is unlikely that a similar approach could be used in humans to implant memories.
5. However, he did say that understanding these pathways could help us understand conditions where developmental disorders cause speech problems.
A.They are active throughout the day.
B.Songbirds provide an excellent model.
C.Such experiments would give rise to debate.
D.The brain activities involved in this are still poorly understood.
E. They controlled the interactions between two regions of the brain
F. It may not be too many years before the measurements of brain activity.
G. The breakthrough has given an insight into the development of vocal learning.

One day,Ali took Zahra’s shoes to a shoe repairman to be fixed, but he lost them on the way home.It wasn’t until he got home that he realised he had lost the shoes. He was afraid that his parents would be angry and disappointed,so he begged his sister to keep it secret.Zahra agreed and the two decided to share Ali’s running shoes.Zahra’s school hours were in the morning,so she would wear them first. After school, she would rush back and give them to Ali.He could then run to his school, which began in the afternoon.Although he ran as fast as he could,Ali often arrived late and was warned by the school.
Ali heard about a long-distance race that was held for the boys in the city. When he learned that the third prize was a new pair of shoes,he decided to take part.He ran home excitedly and promised his sister that he would win her the new shoes.
The day of race arrived.Ali had a strong start, but halfway through the race he began to get tired and his legs began to ache.Getting more and more exhausted he thought only of Zahra and his promise to her.Dreaming of the new shoes he would win for his sister gave him strength, and he stayed right behind the two fastest runners, determined to finish third.Suddenly,as the finishing line drew near, another runner collided (碰撞) with Ali from behind and he crashed to the ground.
