1) Read the new words correctly with the help of phonetics and master how to guess the
meanings of the new words appeared in the reading materials.
2) Understand the passage by predicting, skimming, scanning, reading for details. 3) Know the form of a letter.
4) Understand and use the structure of equal comparison “as…as…” and “not as/so…as…”
well.

Teaching ProceduresStage 1(5mins):Warming up and Revision
Teaching method activity Designing purpose
Class activity 1. Greet and warm up by singing the song if you’re happy while doing the actions . 通过唱与跳来调整学生的情绪,吸引学生的注意力, 为上课做好准备
2. Talk about the song to lead in the equal comparison, then get students to make sentences in the equal comparison Show in chains. 由歌曲中的情感引导出学生现有的情感,并以此展开对情感变化的论述,同时复习同级比较的复习

Class activity 1. Show some pictures about Li Hong. And get some students to tell something about her according to the pictures, learn the new word ‘accept’ and phrase ‘get used to…. 展示重难点,承接复习环节的同时,为为后面的学习做好铺垫。
Group activity 2. Go through some words from the letter to predict what the letter is about .Get one student to show his opinions. 培养学生从一些关键词来预测文章内容的阅读策略
Individual activity 1.Listen to 1a to check the main idea of the passage. 训练学生把握语篇大意能力
Individual activity 2.Skim the letter and get the answers to the two questions. 1) Who is she writing to 2) What is the letter mainly about 训练学生略读能力
Group work 3. Scan the letter gain and guess the meaning of the phrase ‘as usual’ and ‘what’s more’ and the word ‘either’. Then get some students to show their opinions. And do some practice to enhance it. 训练学生猜词义能力,并立即以练习加固。
Individual activity 4.Read the text carefully to fill the blanks in the diagram of 1a. Check the answers one by one. 训练细节阅读能力
Stage 4(12mins):Post-reading
Individual activity 1. Read again and find out the sentences using the equal comparison. 继续学习同级比较句型
Group activity 2. Read the text to find out the important and difficult points. Analyze if necessary 小组合作自主学习,找出重难点
