The 90-minute documentary, Amazing China, which is co-produced by China Central Television and China Film Corp, opened in theaters nationwide on Friday.
The film focuses on the major achievements the country has made since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012 under Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era(时代).
The documentary focuses on key Chinese infrastructure(基础设施)projects in aerospace, high-speed rail, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the world’s largest single-dish telescope FAST.
The documentary also informs viewers that seven of the world’s 10 biggest sea ports are now in China. And that the country now has the longest high-speed rail network in the world.
Speaking of the significance of the new documentary for the Chinese, La Peikang, the head of China Film Corp, says: “It’s not only about showing the achievements, but presenting the status quo of China.“ The film will help people to know our country better. The moving stories behind the Chinese miracles reflect the people’s endeavors and spirit.”
A good documentary is usually a vivid portrayal(描绘)of individual stories rather than slogans and Amazing China is no exception. One of the most touching moments in the film is probably footage from an interview of Nan Rendong, often called the “father of FAST”. Amazing China also focuses on common people.
In the film, you see a young Tibetan woman volunteering in rural areas to help people poverty.
The movie shows that their work is not easy, but their spirit and unwavering belief make it possible to achieve their targets. And, they are just representative of the many Chinese who work as hard.
China is the world’s second-largest economy. But the country still faces “the contradiction between unbalanced and inadequate development and the people’s ever-growing needs for a better life”, as stated in the CPC’s 19th National Congress in November. However, as this cinematic production proves, the documentary is a good way for country to boost self-confidence and to aspire for a brighter future.

It used to be mostly the military that used small, unpiloted aircraft, called “drones.” The little planes were very costly. But as they have dropped in price more people have begun to use them. Rescue workers and farmers are among the new users. Moviemakers are using drones to film from the sky. Historians use them when they explore ancient buildings. Rescue workers use them to look for people. And now farmers are using them to watch over their crops.
Romain Faroux is a French businessman who starts companies. His father was a farmer. He believed drones could help farmers. He helped create a company that developed a small drone that could be controlled by people on the ground. They called it “Agridrone.” It uses a special “optical sensor” to examine crops. He says the technology used is similar to that used by smart phones-except it has wings.
A computer program directs the drone to fly over the crops. The sensor on the drone records four different-colored “bands” of sunlight that are reflected off the crops.
Jean-Baptiste Bruggeman is a farmer. He says the drone flies over his crops at different times of the season and provides a lot of information about his crops. He points out that the drone pictures show him the exact amount of fertilizer the crops need. He says it also shows exactly where the fertilizer is needed. Some areas of a field may need more than others.
As a result, Mr. Bruggeman says there is reduced nitrogen from the fertilizer after the harvest. This helps nature. Romain Faroux says farmers use information gathered by the Agridrone to place fertilizer only in areas where it was needed. Before they used the drones, farmers would put the same amount of fertilizer everywhere.
Drones also save time because farmers can examine up to three hectares in about a minute.
28.The first paragraph is mainly about ________.
A. the expensive cost of drones B. the fast development of drones
C. the wide use of drones D. the urgent need of drones
29.What do we know about Agridrone
A. It records different-colored bands of sunlight.
B. It flies over the crops with a computer.
C. It absorbs the sunlight reflected off the crops.
D. It is like a smartphone with wings
30.What Mr. Bruggeman said implied that by using drones ________.
A. he saved money and reduced pollution
B. he could gather his crops easily
C. he could fly over his crops at different times
D. he knew exactly the ingredients of his fertilizer
31.What is the main idea of the passage
A. Drones will be widely used in different fields.
B. French farmers use drones to examine their crops.
C. Crops will be harvested by drones soon.
D. Farmers develop special drones for their crops.
D
In a study published in Nature Machine Intelligence, researchers at Ohio State University show how artificial intelligence(AI)can follow clinical trials to identify drugs for re-purposing, a solution that can help advance innovative treatments.
Re-purposing drugs is legal and not unusual. When doctors prescribe(开处方)drugs that have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration(FDA)for purposes different from what is printed on the labels, the drugs are being used “off-label”. Just because a drug is FDA-approved for a specific type of disease does not prevent it from having possible benefits for other purposes.
For example, Metformin(二甲双胍), a drug that is FDA-approved for treating type 2 diabetes, is also used to treat PCOS(a disease of women), and other diseases. Trazodone(曲唑酮), an anti-depressant(抗抑郁药) with FDA-approval to treat depression, is also prescribed by doctors to help treat patients with sleep issues.
The Ohio State University research team created an AI deep learning model for predicting treatment probability with patient data including the treatment, outcomes, and potential con-founders(干扰因素).
Con-founders are related to the exposure and outcome. For example, a connection is identified between music festivals and increases in skin rashes(红疹). Music festivals do not directly cause skin rashes. In this case, one possible confounding factor between the two may be outdoor heat, as music festivals tend to run outdoors when the temperature is high, and heat is a known cause for rashes. When working with real-world data, con-founders could number in the thousands. AI deep learning is well-suited to find patterns in the complexity of potentially thousands of con-founders.
The researcher team used con-founders including population data and co-prescribed drugs. With this proof-of-concept, now clinicians have a powerful AI tool to rapidly discover new treatments by re-purposing existing medications.
32.What do we know about a drug used off-label
A. It is sold without a label.
B. Its uses extend beyond the original ones.
C. It is available at a low price.
D. Its clinical trials are rejected by doctors.
33.Metformin and Trazodone are similar as both of them________.
A. are used off-label B. treat rare diseases
C. result in sleep issues D. are medical breakthroughs
34.What can be inferred about “con-founders”
A. They are possible treatments.
B. They are environmental factors.
C. They can be easily recognized in real-world data.
D. They should be taken into serious consideration.
35.What is the main idea of the text
A. AI examines benefits of existing drugs.
B. AI identifies off-label uses for drugs.
C. AI finds new drugs for common diseases.
D. AI proves the power of drug research.

Did you know that people form a solid impression of you within the first seven seconds of meeting you Some researchers suggest that characters such as trustworthiness are determined in as little as one-tenth of a second. They say not to judge a book by its cover, but we do, and there is a physical reason for this: your brains are wired for self-protection. If, for example, your brain considers someone to be rude, it will sound the alarm to avoid that person—for your own safety. So with that in mind, ___36____.
Appearance
Perhaps this is the most obvious, but the first thing people make judgment on is your appearance. If your hair and clothes are disheveled(衣冠不整的),others might assume that you are altogether messy or just generally unconcerned, since it may come across as though you can’t even be bothered to make yourself presentable.
Your posture
Actions, or just in this case, body language, speak louder than words. That makes sense, since without knowing you, other people won’t necessarily trust what you say yet. ___37___. It can convey confidence, intelligence and personality.
____38_____
Your speech influences how people feel about you on that first meeting. This one’s a little more complex, though, because explanation can vary. Being open and honest might seem authentic to some, while others might consider this over -sharing and attention-seeking behavior.
Choice of Colors
While it is important to match your outfit to the occasion, ____39_____. Lighter tones are associated with a friendly attitude, and a darker tones are subconsciously related to authority. Blue, in particular, expresses a sense of power, integrity and knowledge.
Your Facial expressions
How and when you smile, frown or raise your eyebrows influences how people perceive you. If, for example, ___40____, you might seem uninterested or distressed. As I mentioned before, people start making judgments within the first few seconds of meeting you, and those judgments are primarily based on their previous interactions and perceptions of others, for better or worse.
A. How you behave
B. Your speaking style
C. you don’t smile when greeting others
D. it turns out that the color of what you wear is equally important
E. here are some ways people judge you when they meet you for the first time
F. A good first impression is determined by many factors
G. When it comes to first impressions, your posture says a lot about you

范文:
Should We Advocate Artificial Intelligence
Nowadays, with the development of technology, artificial intelligence is becoming more and more popular. It is universally acknowledged that AI plays an important role in our daily lives.
On the one hand, I have strong grounds for believing that AI such as face recognition makes our lives much more convenient and safer. What’s of great importance is that AI like some robots can also do things that are too difficult or dangerous for people to do. Take the snake robots for example, they are able to get to places that people can’t go to and rescue people who were buried under the buildings in the earthquake.
On the other hand, with AI taking the place of people in some industries, it will be more difficult for people to get jobs to make a living. What’s more, it is because AI doesn’t have feelings or thoughts that some work will not be finished perfectly when they encounter some accidents.
Personally, every coin has two sides. There is no doubt that AI makes a big difference to our life in some ways, but it also has some weaknesses. Only when we make good use of it, can it bring us great benefits.

Put your skateboards in the locked shelves at the top of the stairs. Even on sunny days, they are not allowed to be used near the trains. Those with walking sticks, just ask us if you need help. The station will be crowded today, with the snow bringing more passengers to take the train. Parents, please be sure that your children are always by your side. Of course, if you have problems, you can look for our staff in the center of the waiting area. For your safety, cameras are placed at each end of the waiting area. If you think anything of yours has been stolen, our cameras may have recorded it. We'll be able to help you find your things.
However, you should not have your luggage or other items out of your view. Our staff may need to remove or destroy anything left behind in the waiting area. Remember to watch the information boards for the latest weather report, and stay safe out there.
