The Biggest Stadiums in the World
People have been pouring into stadiums since the days of ancient Greece. In around 8 A. D. , the Romans built the Colosseum, which remains the world's best known stadium and continues to influence contemporary design. Rome's Colosseum was 157 feet tall and had 80 entrances, seating 50, 000 people. However, that was small fry compared with the city's Circus Maximus, which accommodated around 250, 000 people.
These days, safety regulations—not to mention the modem sports fan's desire for a good view and a comfortable seat—tend to keep stadium capacities (容量)slightly lower. Even soccer fans tend to have a seat each; gone are the days of thousands standing to watch the match.
For the biggest stadiums in the world, we have used data supplied by the World Atlas list so far, which ranks them by their stated permanent capacity, as well as updated information from official stadium websites. All these stadiums are still functional, still open and still hosting the biggest events in world sport.
Rungrado 1st of May Stadium, Pyongyang, D. P. R-Korea. Capacity: 150, 000. Opened: May 1,1989.
Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor, Michigan, U. S. Capacity: 107, 601. Opened: October 1, 1927.
Beaver Stadium, State College, Pennsylvania, U. S. Capacity: 106, 572. Opened: September 17, 1960.
Ohio Stadium, Columbus, Ohio, U. S. Capacity: 104, 944. Opened: October 7, 1922.

Breathing happens so automatically that you might not even realize how you know to breathe. If you've ever gone for a run you probably know the feeling of exhaustion that comes with trying to catch your breath. Maybe your nostrils(鼻孔)burn and your heart races as your lungs beg for air,but none of these body parts is responsible for controlling your breathing. In fact, it's your brain that's telling your body to breathe all the time, even though you may only notice when your breathing becomes heavy after exercising.
The way your body knows how much to breathe has a lot to do with why you breathe in the first place. When you breathe, you take in oxygen, which your body needs in order to produce energy. The process of creating that energy leaves behind a gas called carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide production is like the way a car running on gasoline leaves behind toxic fumes; it's a waste product that needs to be removed from your body. You do that by exhaling (吐出).
Your brain is constantly monitoring the balance between oxygen and carbon dioxide. If there's too much waste product building up, it tells your body to breathe faster to bring in more oxygen. This is why when you go for a run, you breathe heavier—your body needs to create more energy, therefore removing more carbon dioxide.
While breathing is an involuntary function, it doesn't mean humans are unable to control it. If you have ever been told to take deep breaths before receiving a shot at the doctor, it's in part because emotions can subconsciously impact our breathing pattern and bring down our oxygen levels. By choosing a more regular one we can correct that problem. Even when you stop thinking about breathing, your brain will never forget, though. As long as you're living, your brain will control the flow of air and regulate your levels of oxygen and carbon dioxide.

It's basic exercise knowledge that to gain muscles, you strengthen training, and to lose fat, you do cardio (有氧运动)—right Not necessarily,a new UNSW study suggests. In fact, the study—a systematic review and meta-analysis that reviewed and analyzed existing evidence—shows we can lose around 1.4 percent of our entire body fat through strength training alone, which is similar to how much we might lose through cardio or aerobics.
"A lot of people think that if you want to lose weight, you need to go out and run," says senior author of the study Dr Mandy Hagstrom, exercise physiologist and senior lecturer at UNSW Medicine & Health." But our findings show that even when strengthening training is done on its own, it still causes a favorable loss of body fat without having to consciously diet or go running."
Up to now, the link between strength training and fat loss has been unclear. Studies have investigated this link in the past, but their sample sizes tend to be small—a side effect of not many people wanting to volunteer to exercise for months on end. Smaller sample sizes can make it difficult to find statistically significant results, especially as many bodies can respond differently to exercise programs.
"It can be really difficult to discern (辨别)whether there's an effect or not based on one study alone," says Dr Hagstrom. "But when we add all of these studies together, we effectively create one large study, and can get a much clearer idea of what's going on."
Dr Hagstrom and her team pulled together the findings from 58 research papers that used highly accurate forms of body fat measurement to measure the outcomes from strength training programs. Altogether, the studies included 3000 participants, none of which had any previous weight training experience.
32. What does the UNSW study suggest
A. People can decrease fat by training.
B. People can obtain muscles by exercise.
C. People can lose fat by strength training.
D. People can increase basic exercise by training and cardio.
33.What can Dr Mandy Hagstrom suggest people do to lose weight
A. Go out to run fast. B. Go on a diet.
C. Do some training alone. D. Join in some exercise together.
34. Why has the link between strength training and fat loss been unclear
A. The sample sizes are hard to get a good result.
B. Many people don't exercise constantly.
C. The sample sizes look small.
D. Many people aren't able to take part in the exercise programs.
35.Which part of a report can the passage be taken from
A. Education. B. Health. C .Life. D.Journal.

Dear Steven,
Learning that you will come to China but feel worried, I'm terribly sorry. As we all know, Chinese is hard for foreigners to study. So I hope you can make friends with your Chinese classmates. Only in this way can you not be lonely. I believe the more you speak it, the more fluent you will become. As for your diet, you can visit some western restaurants to eat or cook by yourself.
Of course, studying abroad is not easy. I know you have some difficulties in many ways. But if you spend some time getting used to the new environment in China, you will be OK.
Best wishes!
Yours,
Li Hua

Text 10
I am 27 years old trying to go back to college after a long break from any formal schooling. I am taking a college algebra class and struggling to keep up. I sit behind a young man who at first glance looks like a violent man or overall someone I would never think would be able to help me learn algebra. I was dead wrong. Today in class we were learning the part which requires a lot of specific inputs on a graphing calculator. I kept getting a number that was thousands of the correct answer.
The "violent man" that sits in front of me turns around and says "I got you bro. Let me see what you got. "
After about 5 minutes I solved all the problems. Now I know to never make a judgment on someone because of how they look or dress.
I dismissed a classmate in my college algebra class because of their appearance and was very wrong about my initial judgment.
