Ⅰ.阅读理解
(2020·重庆市名校联盟二模)
On a bright early summer morning, many young swimmers gather at a local swimming pool in the state of Maryland. They are members of a competitive summer swim team, and that's a regular part of their daily life. As they train and cut seconds off their times, which makes them closer to the championship in the following large?scale(大规模的) competitions, they are getting lots of physical exercise and vitamin D from the sun. However, the benefits of belonging to a sports team are not just honor or health related. You can learn useful life skills.
Paul Waas, coach of the swim team, explains,“The discipline(自制力 ) comes into play when you're talking about concentrating on the details that your coaches are saying as it makes you faster rather than just going up and down the pool the same way you have every time. When you focus on what you're doing right and what you can do better, then you'll see the improvement. ”
Besides, there is also responsibility, goals and workings within a group. Again, here is Coach Waas. “It's really great! It's so fun to watch from year to year. I've had kids who as 7?year?olds on the team could barely pay attention in practice and were only interested in who was going first. Now they've come back as 8?year?olds,having set some goals and having things that they want to achieve. These skills can help them a lot.”
But playing the sports is not without harm. Some can be hard on the body. Young athletes suffer serious injuries that follow them into adulthood. Coach Waas says that in fact, swimming is different from most others. First,it poses a lower risk of injury. The second one relates to how swim teams are structured. Actually, children are not the only ones who can benefit. Adults can also benefit from team sports.
1.Why do the swimmers gather at a swimming pool in the early morning
A.To obtain vitamin D from the sun.
B.To build practical skills for future.
C.To join in a large?scale competition.
D.To carry out their routine practice.
2.What do Paul Waas' words imply in paragraph 2
A.Swimmers should concentrate on details.
B.Members get disciplined and focused in the team.
C.Coaches play a key role in players' improvement.
D.Most swimmers enjoy swimming in the same way.
3.What happens to the kids after a year's training
A.They care more about who goes first.
B.They pay less attention to training.

Growing up,I understood one thing about my dad:He knew everything. This was our relationship:I asked him questions and he told me the answers.
In my teen years,he taught me things I'd need to know to survive in the real world. When I moved out on my own,I called him usually when something broke into my apartment and I needed to know how to fix the toilet, the air conditioner or the wall.
But then, eventually,I needed him less. For everything,I had search engines.I don't know when it happened, but when I called our conversations developed into six words.Me:“Hi,Dad.” Him:“Hi,sweet. Here's Mom.” I love my dad,of course, but I wondered at times if maybe he had already shared everything I needed to know.
Then, this past summer,I moved in with my parents for three weeks while my house was being repaired. They own a lake house, and Dad asked me to help him rebuild the bulkhead (隔板) at their dock(船坞).
“How do you know how to build a bulkhead?”
“I spent a summer in college building them on the Jersey shore.”
“You did?” I thought I knew everything about my dad.I knew about the summer at the manufacturing plant that burned his hands raw,and even the tiny little kitchen, where he learned how to make the best pancake. But I never knew this.
“Yes.Now come up here and let me teach you how to use this circular saw (圆锯).”All of a sudden,I realized that maybe it's not that there's nothing left to say.Maybe it's just that I've spent my life asking him the wrong questions.

2.E [本段的小标题是Label the voice.(给声音贴标签),且根据上文的“give it a name”以及“Call it your unreliable speaker”可知,我们可以通过将内心的负面想法当作另外的人在说话,以此来转移自己的关注点。由此可知,E项与此处匹配。]
3.C [本空为该段的小标题;根据本段内容尤其是“a slow breathing in and a slower breathing out will help comfort the central nervous system”(缓慢的吸气和更缓慢的呼气将有助于放松中枢神经系统)可知,C项“放慢你的呼吸来平静你的中枢神经系统”符合本段的主题,故选C。]
4.F [根据空前的“causing you to react physically”(引起你的身体反应),以及下文中的“shaky hands,trembling voice,or a sweaty brow”可知,F处前后表述的是身体对中枢神经系统压力过大作出的反应,故F项与此处匹配。]
5.A [根据本段的小标题Trust that the thought will pass.(相信这个想法将会过去),并结合空前的“it's irrational(不合逻辑的)after all”(毕竟这是不合逻辑的)可知,A项“不要浪费精力去对抗它”符合语境。故选A。]

Paragraph 2:

________________________________________________________________________
答案:
Paragraph 1:
We ended our talking but I was lost in thought. For years,I had taken it for granted that Dad could give me answers to any of my questions if I asked, but seldom did I try to understand his life just like the summer when he was building the bulkhead and what he wanted from me.Maybe he was also eager to share his story with me,or he wouldn't have asked me to help him rebuild the bulkhead. After all,it was hard, manual labor.A few weeks later, after I moved back into my house,I called my parents.Dad answered.“Hi,sweet,” he said.“Here's Mom.”
Paragraph 2:
“Wait,Dad,” I said.“How are you?”We talked a lot that day, from the little quarrel between him and my mom to the job he was working on.Nothing important. To anyone else,it would sound like a normal conversation between a dad and his daughter. But to me,it was novel,as well as to my dad.I sensed his voice with excitement and delight. It was a whole new beginning.I spent the first part of my life needing to talk to my dad.Now I talk to him because I want to.
