When I ( Country singer Clint Black ) was 14, I was hired(被雇用) for an after-school job selling newspaper to my hometown, the Houston Post. I was sent to some of the city's worst neighborhoods to ask door-to-door(挨家挨户). Even though I was often tired after dark searching for some place for the night, I was thankful for the work.
It was a hard job because people didn't like a stranger knocking on their door, especially a boy trying to get them to buy something. One time, a man shut his door heavily in my face and shouted, "I don't want any newspaper." I forced(强迫) myself to knock again and tell him how great the newspaper was. I finally sold him one. I was soon among the top sellers and, like other successful salesmen, was asked to train newcomers.
Around this time I started playing some musical instruments(乐器). Before long I was playing in a band at some and other events. When I turned 18 years old, I fixed my attention on becoming a professional musician. I never give up this dream. I'm sure my perseverance(坚持) came from what I learned knocking on strangers' doors.
That experience helped me in many ways. Early in my music job I was locked in a lawful quarrel(法律纠纷) with a former manager. He forced me to give in, but I refused(拒绝).
Those closed doors in my face gave me the strength to stand up to this frightening person. But this time there was one difference: I was the one saying no. And I won.

Slowly, we’re moving closer and closer to 5G world. From smart-home security to self-driving cars, all the internet-connected devices(设备) in your life will be able to talk to each other at fast speeds with reduced delay(延迟), Objectively speaking(客观来说), the fastest 4G download speeds in the U. S. top out at an average of 19.42 Mb\s. But by comparison(对比) 5G will be gigabit (千兆) speeds.
“5G is one of those signs, along with artificial intelligence(AI), of this coming data age,” said Steve Koenig, senior director of market research for the Consumer Technology Association. “The self-driving vehicle is a great emblem of this data age, and that is to say, it is a sign of time, because with one single task, driving, you have massive amounts of data coming from the vehicle itself, and a variety of sensors are collecting a lot of information to model its environment as it moves. It’s pulling in data from other vehicles about road conditions down the lane. It could be weather information, but also connected infrastructure (基础设施) construction. There’s lots of data behind that task, which is why we need high speed.
Augmented reality glasses and virtual headset haven’t yet broken the mainstream, but tech companies are joyfully betting that these devices will eventually replace our smartphones. With 5G, that could actually happen. This is notable because companies such as Apple are reportedly developing AR glasses to assist — or perhaps even replace — smartphones.
Ericsson stated at February’s Mobile World Congress how smart glasses could become faster and lighter with a 5G connection, because the glasses could rely on hardware for processing power.
But don’t get too excited. There’s still a lot of work to be done in the meantime, including various trials(实验) to make sure the radios play nicely with hardware and infrastructure construction(基础建设) so 5G isn’t concentrated only in big cities.
29.What does the author want to stress(强调) in Paragraph 1
A.The lighting-fast speed of 5G.
B.The expectation of 5G world.
C.The difference between 4G and 5G.
D.The internet-connected devices in our life.
30.What does the underlined word “emblem” in Paragraph 2 mean
A.Exhibition(展示). B.Success. C.Symbol(标志). D.Explanation.
31.We can infer from the text that ________.
A.5G world won’t come without AR glasses
B.5G helps to create the artificial intelligence vehicle
C.Apple company is developing AR glasses worldwide
D.Tech companies will face the fact that smartphones may be replaced
32.What will the author probably tell us next
A.How to fully expand(扩大) 5G coverage(覆盖面).
B.Smart glasses will become faster and lighter.
C.Why 5G isn’t concentrated in big cities.

Centuries ago, these caves(山洞) were places of worship (祭祀) for Buddhist monks(僧侣). Today they’re homes for 200 poor Afghan(阿富汗) families and one classroom.

The children in this classroom are happy to get an education and they have big dreams for the future. “We study different subjects here, for example, math, English, drawing and reading, I want to become a doctor in the future and serve my people,” said one of the students.
Years of poverty forced these families to seek refuge (避难所) in these ancient caves with no basic facilities(设施) and, previous to Ahmadi’s initiative (自发性), no chance of getting an education for the children. After an Afghan service broadcast report about Ahmadi’s school, Afghanistan’s Ministry of Education offered to help her in her efforts.

Usually, a simpler life translates to less anxiety, stress and worry.(人们常常想简化生活。
37.根据上文“First, get rid of all the possessions you haven't used in the last year. If you haven't put a thing to use in one year, it is probably not worth keeping.(首先,处理掉你在过去的一年里没有使用过的所有物品。如果一件东西一年都没用过,那它可能就不值得保存了)”以及后文“Put anything you haven't used in one year in that bag.(把你一年没用过的东西都放进那个袋子里)”可知,上文提到处理掉很久没有使用过的物品,后文提到放到袋子里,可知本句是在说明拿袋子,G选项中a big garbage bag对应后文中that bag。故G选项“拿一个大垃圾袋,在你的生活空间周围走动”符合语境,故选G。

39.根据上文“On a deeper level, we can simplify our thinking. Most of our thinking is not necessary.(在更深层次上,我们可以简化我们的思考。我们的大部分想法都是不必要的)”以及后文“If you do not want to go that far, try to ignore the thoughts that are not related to the present.
