Ⅰ.Analysis of the teaching material:
本模块主要介绍吸烟和吸毒的危害(危及健康)。本节内容包括:Introduction ,Speaking 和Cultural Corner。Introduction 部分要求学生掌握一些有关吸烟的危害的单词:cancer, heart disease, cigarette 及了解一些关于吸烟的危害的事实;Speaking 部分讨论的话题与Introduction 中的Activity3的讨论联系紧密,固把Introduction 中的Activity3和Speaking中的内容进行重组,并适当增减,从而进一步强化学生对吸烟危害的认识;Cultural Corner部分涉及到如何帮助吸烟者戒烟。通过让学生制作海报,培养学生动手动脑的能力,增强学生的社会责任感。
Ⅱ.Analysis of the students:
授课班级学生通过两个月以来的学习,基本适应高中生活。与老师的配合愈发默契。学生思维较活跃、表达能力较强,能运用所学知识大胆发表自己的观点和看法;动手能力较强,对一些实践性的活动很感兴趣。
Ⅲ.Designing thoughts:
设计时参照学校的“三段六步”教学法,突出学生的主体地位,以学定教。教师在教学中扮演引导者、组织者、合作伙伴的角色。运用启发式、由浅入深式层层递进、从整体到细节的原则。培养学生词汇归纳能力,提高学生的口头表达能力及阅读技能。通过制作海报,教育学生关注吸烟者、增强学生的社会责任感。
Ⅳ.Teaching goals:
Knowledge goals:
1) Enable Ss to learn some new words related to smoking.
2) Enable Ss to master some tips on stopping smoking.
Ability goals:
1) Enable Ss to improve their speaking and writing ability.
2) Enable Ss to improve their skimming and scanning skills.
Emotion goal:
Make Ss show their care to smokers and our society, take an active part in some activities and help smokers get rid of the bad habit of smoking.
Ⅴ.Teaching important points:
1) Make Ss know the dangers of smoking as well as the importance of stopping smoking.
2) Teach Ss some new words: cancer, heart disease, cigarette…
3) Help Ss improve the skimming and scanning skills.

Get Ss to learn how to write a description of the poster.

Discussing, task-based method, skimming and scanning.

2.Activity2 /(1min) Show activity2 on P17, and check the answers. Do activity2 together Consolidate some words related to dangers of smoking.
3.Activity1 /(1min) Show facts about smoking and check the answers. Do activity1 together Get Ss to realize the dangers of smoking.
4.Activity3 /(2min) Lead Ss to talk about the question, “Is there any anti-smoking advertising in China ” Discuss and act the advertisement out Develop Ss’ interest again, and make them concentrate more on the topic.

Scan the passage and finish off the tasks Help Ss to know about the details of this passage and improve Ss’ scanning skills
3.Make a poster and display it /(12mins) Get Ss to make a poster in groups of about 6 and explain it in oral English. Discuss and make a poster.Prepare to explain it. Get Ss to help smokers give up smoking and meanwhile develop their good writing skills
