Dear Simon,
I have received your letter about asking me for the advice about learning English. Now I’d like to tell you how you should learn English.
First of all, you should often read English aloud and try to learn something important by heart, which helps you to remember it easily and form a good habit of thinking in English. Besides, you should listen a lot and communicate with others in English. In this way, you will improve your listening ability and your spoken English as well. What's more, you should keep a diary in English every day and your written English will become better and better.
I hope what I've said is useful to you. I'm looking forward to your good news.
Best wishes.

Text 1
W: Who does the housework in your family
M: My mother does the most. She cooks, washes the dishes and so on. My father just sweeps the floor. And I do the gardening.
Text 2
M: How could anyone survive this crash
W: It was difficult to believe. There were two men in the truck and a woman with a child in the car, but no one was badly injured.
Text 3
W: Do you live very far from your office
M: Well, it’s about 20 miles. But it doesn’t seem that far. The road is good and my car has never been trappped in heavy traffic. So the rides never annoy me.
Text 4
M: Is there any shocking news today
W: A landslide struck. Soldiers were working hard to save the people trapped. Till now most of them have been rescued successfully.
Text 5
W: I’ve heard that you are going to America tomorrow. I want to see you off at the airport. When are you leaving
M: 1:00 p.m. But I am to check in at 11:20 a.m.
W: Then I’ll see you at the airport at 11:00 a.m.
Text 6
M: Are you being served
W: No, I want a silk dress. Could you show me some
M: Sure. What colour do you prefer
W: Well, I’m not good at that.
M: I think light blue matches the colour of your skin.
W: Yes. Mmm... It looks fine. ⑥But I’m afraid a light colour doesn’t fit my age.
M: I don’t think so. Actually you look younger in this dress. It is designed in the latest style.
W: It is nice. ⑦OK, can I try it on
M: ⑦OK. And the fitting rooms are over there.
Text 7
M: I was stopped by one of those market researchers today. She was doing a survey on money.
W: Really What kind of things was she asking
M: She wanted to know how I usually paid for everything.
W:Hmm. Did you tell her I pay for everything
M: Uh, no... ⑧Anyway, she asked me how many times I’d used a credit card in the past month. I told her I didn’t have one, and the next thing I know, she asked me if I wanted to have one!
W: But you’re only 18!
M: ⑨Well, I filled out the form anyway. The only thing is... she asked if a parent could sign it, so...
Text 8
M: ⑩We were lucky to walk here instead of driving. The two popular teams attract their fans to the final match.
W: It’s a good job we got here early. Look at all those cars there. They’ll never get in the stadium.
M: You’d better follow me closely. I don’t want to lose you.
W: Don’t worry. I’ll hang on.
M: We’ll go in over there, Gate B. Peter said they’re pretty good tickets.
W: Where are they
M: They’re right behind the goal.
W: Oh, do we have to stand up all the time
M: That’s right.
W: I hope we’ll have a good view.
M: That’s why we’ve come early. The earlier you are, the better.
Text 9
W: OK, so it’s up to us to hold the end of school year party for out class. How can we make it a really good one
M: Well, it shouldn’t be too difficult. Everyone will be so happy that all their exams are over. We just need good music.
W: No. We should do something to make it really special. We could ask people to dress up. We could tell everyone to come as a famous character from a film.
M: But it’ll be difficult to find the clothes.
W: Well, maybe you’re right. What else could we do then
M: We could organize some fun games.
W: OK. We can talk about it tomorrow. Let’s think about food now. What about bread or fried chicken
M: Why not have different kinds of pizza Everyone likes pizza.
W: Good idea.
Text 10
M: Hello, everyone. My name’s Sam Thomas. I’m from WSP, short for Worldwide Students Project. It is a service organization which was set up to improve international understanding. Now we’ve got volunteers from 30 different countries working around the world. If you’re interested in joining us. I’d like to tell you about some of the projects. There are three kinds of projects to choose from: short-term projects lasting two or three weeks, medium-term projects lasting between one and six months and long-term projects which can be up to a year. The first project I’d like to tell about is in Japan. It’s a village improvement project. You’d be working with local people, so you need knowledge of Japanese for that. It is for three weeks. The next one is a children’s holiday centre in Poland. The work includes painting rooms, gardening and things like that. It’s a medium-term one lasting six weeks. The final project is for the medical students here. There is a placement in a centre for disabled children in India. You’d be providing medical care there. You’ll work six months there, so you can get plenty of experience and do something for the disabled children.2021-2022学年第一学期六校联考高一英语答题卡

Making friends at school can be a little tricky - but it doesn’t have to be! Try out a few of these methods to talk to people in your class and hang out with them outside of school. Before you know it, you’ll have a group of friends to have fun with every day!
■ Be friendly.
Using proper body language will help, Stand up straight, make eye contact with people, and smile! Try to avoid crossing your arms over your chest and looking closed off. The more open and friendly you look, the more people will want to get to know you.
■ Sit at a new table during _________.
Look for tables with an open seat. If you’re feeling a little nervous, pick a table that only has one or two people sitting down. Head over and ask if you can sit there, then join in on the conversation. If you like the people you sit with, ask if you can join them again the next day.
■ Try out for a sports team.
Pick a sport that you like (it could be soccer, basketball, softball, baseball, or anything in between), and try out for the team. Over time, you could become good friends with some of the other people on your team! If your school doesn’t have a sports team, try looking for one at your local community center.
■ Join an after-school club.
Meet friends who have the same hobby as you. Ask a teacher or your parents for a list of after school activities and pick 1 or 2 of them that you’re the most excited about. Introduce yourself to everyone when you attended your first club meeting to meet new people and start a fun conversation.

It can be really hard to learn a new language. I had always enjoyed learning languages in school. Only recently did I start learning German. I found that I could understand and learn individual words easily, but when it came to literature, I really struggled. That happened when my tutor at university suggested reading some children's books printed in the target language.
At first, I felt a bit silly going on a hunt for a book designed for someone half my age, but then I realized that everyone has to start somewhere. As children, we are given these basic texts to familiarize our brains with certain vocabularies and writing structures, and from there, we can learn and develop. I started with books which are taught to us as children in the UK. I managed to find Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens and James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl.
The beauty of reading books that were introduced to you as a child is that you are already familiar with the plot. Therefore, you can work out some words with your knowledge of the story. At first, I used to read with the book in one hand and a dictionary in the other, but this did not work well. The method I would recommend is to read a chapter first and at the end of that chapter, highlight the new words and then look up the definitions. If you can wait a bit before using a dictionary, you may be surprised at what you can understand merely from the context. Additionally, a lot of children's books have pictures which may give you a clue as to what or whom the passage is referring to.
If you can find translations of the books you have read as a child, I would strongly advise you to read those if you are a complete beginner. However, if you feel a bit more confident of reading in English, I would personally recommend the series of Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling or any of the Roald Dahl's children's books.
24.Why did the author find it hard to learn German
A.The author had a poor memory.
B.The author had no interest in it.
C.The author had no one to ask for help.
D.The author couldn't read German books fluently.
25.What did the author think of reading children's books in the target language at first
A.Interesting. B.Stupid. C.Helpful. D.Boring.
26.What does the author try to express mainly in Paragraph 3
A.How to deal with new words while reading.
B.Why it is helpful to read children's books at first.
C.How to choose a proper book to match your level.
D.How to form the habit of reading in the target language.
27.Why does the author write this text
A.To give tips on how to learn a new language.
B.To persuade readers to learn a new language.
C.To stress the importance of reading in language learning.
D.To share stories of learning a new language.

The Forbidden City is well known for being full of Chinese cultural and historical relics. But Masters in the Forbidden City(《我在故宫修文物》)does not just focus on the stories of the past. Instead, the documentary film, which came out in Chinese cinemas on Dec. 16,focuses on ordinary people—the restorers(做修复工作的人)of relics and antiquities(古董).
The stories are told at a slow and relaxed pace, reflecting the restorers’ work. Restoration of cultural relics and antiques can be time-consuming, and sometimes boring. Yet these restorers’ patience and peace of mind are especially precious in a society where everything is changing so fast.
"If you choose this job,you have to stand hours of work sitting on a chair. You need to be quiet and get used to being quiet," says Wang Jin, an ancient clock repair expert.
A touching part of the documentary is the spirit of craftsmanship(工艺)in the restorers. "Years of humdrum work requires not only skill, but also faith and spirit," China Daily commented. looking for precision and perfection, devoting yourself to work, patience, endurance (忍耐力),loneliness". All these qualities come from the‘ craftsman spirit’.”
But unlike the popular idea of serious experts who sit around being serious, the documentary shows off the enthusiasm of the restorers. They play their guitars and make jokes about each other after a long day of restoration work.
One scene that has been very popular with Internet users features a young female restorer riding a bicycle through the empty Forbidden City on a Monday. While she is doing this, a narrator says, "The last person to do this was Puyi, the last emperor of the Qing dynasty."
Masters in the Forbidden City has proved many people’ sideas about antique restorers wrong, allowing them to realize that they are not old, dull professors, but people in their 40s, 30s and even 20s who can be quite pleasing to the eye.
28. According to the text, what’s the main purpose of the documentary Masters in the Forbidden City
A. To show people how antiques are restored.
B. To draw attention to Chinese antique restorers" lives.
C. To display relics seldom seen by ordinary people.
D. To praise the craftsmanship of Chinese antique restorers.
29. According to Wang Jin, we can learn that _____ .
A. he often gets tired of his work
B. here is no need to do restoration work fast
C. antique restorers need to be patient and peaceful
D. it takes years of hard work to adapt to antique restoration
30.The underlined word “humdrum” probably means .
A.unusual B. different C. relaxing D. boring
31.The bicycle-riding scene in the documentary is used to _____ .
A. break the old, dull image of antique restorers
B. show the strange hobbies of young antique restorers
C. encourage the young consider a career in antique restoration in the future
D. remind the audience of the last Qing emperor

What an athlete eats before, during and after exercise is important for the comfort and performance during exercise. While eating soon before exercise doesn’t provide what is needed for the activity, it can prevent hunger during exercise. What is needed for muscles is stored in the days before exercise. This is one reason that the post-exercise meal is very important to recovery and being ready for the next exercise.
Exercising on a full stomach is not a good idea. Food that remains in your stomach during an event may cause stomach upset. To make sure you have enough energy, yet reduce stomach discomfort, you should allow a meal to fully digest before the start of the event.
If you have an early morning race or exercise, it’s best to get up early enough to eat your pre-exercise meal. If not, you should try to eat or drink something easily digestible about 20-30 minutes before the event. The closer you are to the time of your event, the less you should eat. You can have a liquid(液体) meal closer to your event rather than a solid(固体) meal because your stomach digests liquid faster.
Because glucose (葡萄糖) is the energy source for most exercise, a pre-exercise meal should include foods that are high in carbohydrate (碳水化合物) and easy to digest. This includes foods such as fruit, bread, energy bars and drinks.
Planning is necessary if you are competing in an all-day event, such as track meets or other tournaments. You should plan ahead and prepare meals and snacks that you have tried before. Do not experiment with something new on the event day.
32.To prepare for the next exercise, you should ____________.
A. eat soon before exercise. B. eat during exercise.
C. eat after exercise. D. eat nothing at all.
33.Fully digesting a meal before an event may ____________.
A. cause stomach upset. B. give enough energy and stomach discomfort.
C. give comfort and good performance during exercise. D. lead to hunger during exercise.
34.What can we learn from the passage
A. You’d better have your pre-exercise meal after an early morning race.
B. Fruit and bread are high in glucose and easy to digest.
C. Planning is not necessary for track meets.
D. You can try something new for your meals on the event day.
