Teaching aims:
Knowledge aims:
The student can grasp the language points, such as words: born, as, later, drew, herself, model.
Sentence patterns:She couldn't see and she couldn't hear.
She could also write.
Ability aims:
The students can use the new sentence patterns to describe what they could or couldn't do in their daily life.
Emotional aims:
To learn Helen Keller's noble quality that is optimistic and progressive.
Important points:
Help the students grasp the important language points.
Difficult points:
Help the students know how to use the new sentence patterns very well in our daily life .
Step Ⅰ:Pre-listening
Activity 1, Greetings.
Activity 2, Leading-in (Game).
Designment aims: To stimulate the students' interest in learning English and to understand the hardship of Helen Keller as a deaf and blind woman.
Step Ⅱ:While-listening
Activity 1, Listen and find
Close your books and listen to the text for one time.
I guess there are some new words for your understanding. That’s OK. Let’s learn them together. (Word cards)
Designment aims: To know the new words and be ready for the following listening.
Activity2, Listen and choose
Listen again and choose in groups, and you have 10 seconds to read the questions before listening.
Designment aims: To have a general idea of the text.
Activity3, Listen and answer
Listen again and answer the questions in groups, and you have 5 seconds to read the questions before listening.
Designment aims: To know more about Helen Keller and to arouse the students' interest to learn from Helen Keller.
Activity4, Listen and repeat
Listen again, and repeat sentence by sentence. Pay attention to the pronunciation and stress.
Designment aims: To correct the students' pronunciation.

Listen again and complete the passage in groups.
Designment aims: To know the details about the text and practise to use the new words and phrases.

Designment aims: To practise "could, couldn't".

Retell the text according to the key words .
Designment aims: To train the students' abilities of retelling with key words.
