Greet the students and ask whose birthday is it today.
Ⅱ.Free talk.
1.Show some pictures and birthday cards to the students and ask questions like this:
T: What's this
Ss: Birthday cards, birthday party and candles.
2.Make the students say something about the above pictures.
Ⅲ.New words.
1.Give three minutes to students to pronounce the new words.
2.Pronounce the new words following the teacher and remember the new words in three minutes.
Ⅳ.Listening time.
1.Make the students listen to the tape closing their books and get ready to fill in the blanks:
Today is my grandma's ________. My family is _______ a party. It's at my grandma and grandpa's house. My mother and Aunt Jane are________. My brother Bob is ________the table. And then make the students answer the above questions in pairs.

1.Make the students look for the language points in the text in pairs in five minutes.
2.The teacher shows the important language points and gives some examples.

Write a summary about Jenny's grandma's birthday party in seven minutes and show to the class.

Lesson 30 is easy for the students to master the new words and phrases. And it aims to practice the present progressive. The Grammar of present progressive is easy for the students to master the main structure of it. But the teacher still needs to pay more attention to some special changes of the verbs with the letter "e".
