Analysis of teaching content The grammar part aims to guide students to perceive, discover, summarize rules and use basic English sentence patterns in the real context.
Teaching objectives By the end of the lesson, students should be able to: ●Knowledge objectives: 1. Review the basic elements of sentence. 2. Master the basic structures of sentence. ●Ability objectives: 1. Use five basic sentence patterns to describe daily activities. 2. Use different basic sentence structures to write a story. ●Emotional objective: Stimulate their interest in learning English. Develop their sense of cooperation and teamwork.
Teaching important and difficult points Important points: 1. To master the basic sentence structures. 2. To apply the structures into practice. Difficult points: 1. To guide Ss to perceive and master the rules of basic sentence structures. 2. To cultivate Ss' spirit of exploration.
Teaching methods In this lesson, communicative approach and cooperation-study method are adopted in order to improve Ss’ grammar and writing skills.

Step 1 Lead-in (5 min) 1) Present a long and difficult sentence and lead Ss to analyse it. 2) Draw a conclusion: the key of long and difficult sentence is the basic sentence structures. 1) Look at the sentence and analyse it. 2) Try to know the importance of the basic sentence structures. 1) To lead the topic of this class: five basic sentence structures. 2) To raise Ss’ awareness to basic structures.
Step 2 Presentation (25 min) 1) Lead Ss to review the basic elements of sentence. 2) Guide Ss to analyse the basic structures of five sentences. 3) Guide Ss to summarize the usage of five basic sentence structures. 1) Know about the basic elements of sentence. 2) Try to analyse the basic structures of five sentences. 3) Learn about the usage of five basic sentence structures. Step 3 Practice (15 min) Ask Ss to write the basic sentence structures. Ask Ss to read the sentences together and finish Activity 1. Give the task in Activity 2 and offers help. 1) Write the basic sentence structures. 2) Read the sentences and finish Activity 1 on page 5 3) Have a discussion with their partners and try to express themselves freely. And finish Activity 2 1) To apply what they’ve learned into practice. 2) To consolidate the important points. 3) To encourage Ss to talk by their own and to improve their speaking and writing skills.
Homework 1) Write down your experiences and feelings of the first day at senior high. 2) Review the language points of reading part. 1) To improve Ss’ writing skills. 2) To prepare for the next class.
