Looking back on my mother’s life, I found she wanted to keep her children busy all the time. For her, always making her house clean and tidy was of great importance, which had a great influence on us.
You could tum your back for a moment in my mother’ house , leave a half-written letter on the dining room table, a magazine open on the chair, and turn around to find that my mother had“put it back where it belonged,”as she explained.
My wife, on one of her first visits to my mother’s house, placed a packet of biscuits on an end table and went to the kitchen to fetch a drink. When she returned, she found the packet had been removed. Confused, she set down her drink and went back to the kitchen for more biscuits, only to return to find that her drink had disappeared. Up to then she had guessed that everyone in my family held onto their drinks, s0 as not to make water rings on the end tables. Now she knows better.
The sudden disappearance of our things in our family made us confused. We were all inclined to(有……的倾向) forgetfulness. And it was common for one of us, upon returning from the bathroom, to find that every sign of his work in progress had disappeared suddenly. “Do you remember what I was doing” was a question frequently asked, but rarely answered.
Now my sister has developed a second-hand love of clean windows, and my brother does the cleaning in his house , perhaps to avoid having to be the one to hit his feet. I try not to think about it too much, but I have at this later time started to dust the furniture once a week. We have all become busy persons, but it’s really good for us.

26. The underlined part in the fifth paragraph suggests that my sister ______.
A. is happy to clean windows
B. loves to clean used windows
C. is fond of clean used windows

27. This passage mainly tells us that ______.
A. my mother often made us confused
B. my family members had a poor memory
C. my mother helped us to form a good habit
D. my wife was surprised when she visited my mother

Educating children to have good manners maybe a difficult task for all the parents. You may know that children are easier to learn when you make something fun. So you tried to dress up like a clown(小丑) to draw their attention but it didn’t work. Making something fun does not mean that you have to entertain (使某人快乐) your children. What I have found is that tapping into their interests will make anything fun. There are tools and materials from other people on how to develop children’s interests and teach them good manners.
A lot of popular characters such as Madeline , The Winnie Bears and Barbie have DVDs and books about manners. I have used all of these DVDs in my classes, and they not only keep children ’s interests, but also the children use the good manners that they learn from their favorite characters.
If your children are interested in sports, princesses, superheroes, or dinosaurs, you can use their favorite heroes (real or imaginary) as good examples to teach them, from meeting and greeting, to how to set a table.
Elise McVeigh is an etiquette (礼节) expert for Barbie Princes Charm School DVD, as well as a contributor to . She is the mother of three children whom she raises with her husband in Dallas, Her three polite children are influenced by her great achievements and good manners from a very young age. So, the most important thing is that you should not forget to use your good manners, because you are your children ’s biggest hero. Acting and being like you is what they are truly interested in.
28. What does the underlined phrase “tapping into” in paragraph 1 probably mean
A. realizing something.

When Americans Kay and Larry Day found a store selling kites nearly 20 years ago, they decided to buya few kites. And Larry went out to fly a kite as soon as he got one. Surprisingly, he felt so good that he decided to go back and get a better one.
Since then, he and his wife have loved flying kites. They own many kites and plan trips to fly them. They also organize a kite-flying event each winter in their hometown in Iowa. “I’m at peace when I’ m flying,” said Larry.
Kite-flying has a long history as an activity for adults and children. The custom of flying a piece of cloth in the sky began more than 2,000 years ago in China. Since then, kites have been used to do scientific experiments, power boats, and take pictures from the air and much more.
Sometimes the best flying conditions happen in winter—on a frozen (冰冻的) lake, said Kay Day, who with her husband organizes the Color the Wind Kite Festival. It takes place every February on Clear Lake in Iowa.
“The festival adds color to the winter sky and gives people a reason to go outside,” she added. The Days invited, expert fliers to come and share their knowledge for kites with locals and visitors. And this year, more than 100 children attended a kite-making class. “Fliers are a really good group of people. It’s a family.” Larry Day said.
Kay said that the kiting community makes everyone feel welcome. She said her two children started flying kites about three yeas ago after attending a kite festival. Her sons, Dylan and Cardin, fly with people of all ages. “I do enjoy seeing different people,” Dylan said. The 13-year old also likes the happy feelings that he experiences when his kite moves through the sky.
32. Why did the couple decide to by kite
A. Because they wanted to have fun,
B. Because they got used to flying kites.
C. Because they would attend a festival.
D. Because their children wanted to fly kites.
33. What will happen if you attend the Color the Wind Kite Festival
A. You will fly kites on a summer day.
B. You will enjoy the flowers along the way.
C. You will get some advice from experts.
D. You will not be allowed to take your children.
