In April this year, China successfully launched (发射) the Tiangong space station. It is expected to be ready next year in 2022. However, a long queue of experiments from around the world are already in place for flight. CMSA (China Manned Space Agency) has approved a plan of more than 1,000-such experiments, several of which have already been launched. The research topics range from studying dark matter to cancer research and studying disease-producing matter.
Before Tiangong was launched, the ISS (International Space Station) was the only space laboratory in place. The addition of Tiangong has been welcomed by several scientists and researchers from across the world.
Julie Robinson, chief scientist for human exploration and operations at NASA Headquarters, said, “Increased scientific access to space is of scientific benefit globally, no matter who builds and operates platforms.”
The views of Agnieszka Pollo, a scientist at the National Centre for Nuclear Research in Warsaw, were similar. “We need more space stations, because one space station is definitely not enough.”
Since its launch in 1998, the ISS provided equipment to conduct over 3,000 experiments to scientists from different countries. However, China was not allowed to conduct any such experiment due to a US rule which forbids NASA from cooperating (合作) with China.
On the other hand, Tiangong is welcoming experiments from all countries, including the US. Reportedly, CMSA selected nine experiments to be carried out on Tiangong in June 2019. These nine experiments were in addition to a thousand other experiments that China has approved to go up to the space station. These will include 23 organizations from 17 nations.
28. What can we say about the research topics approved by CMSA
A. Fewer but better. B. Various and useful.
C. Various but disordered. D. Not carefully selected.
29. Why did the author mention Julie Robinson and Agnieszka Pollo
A. To stress how successful Tiangong is. B. To show how special Tiangong is.
C. To compare Tiangong with the ISS. D. To explain why Tiangong is welcome.
30. What can we know about the Tiangong space station
A. It is a sharp contrast to the ISS. B. It refuses any cooperation with US.
C. It is controlled by the United Nations. D. It will welcome experiments from all countries.
31. In which section of a newspaper may this text appear
A. Education. B. Health. C. Science. D. Culture.
D
Some people have come up with a creative solution with monster-inspired (以怪物为灵感的) art works to deal with the flood of cicada (蝉) shells that have cropped up across the country.
The species, Brood X, have come to states across the eastern and southern U.S. A lot of cicadas deposited their shells in states including Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
Normally, people have no choice but to deal with the shells wherever they go. However, a recently rediscovered art piece from 2018 has encouraged others to copy it.
Alex from Michigan created a big monster-inspired art work out of dozens or even hundreds of cicada shells. The monster took inspiration from old Japanese monster movies and shows, like Godzilla, Ultraman or Super Sentai—the show that Power Rangers is based on.
The interesting art work led to similar works from other artists. Albert, a student of University of Maryland, created a copy of a monster in Xenomorph. He said, “We are taking action! Getting ready for the coming risk of cicada shells with some art inspiration from Alex’s creations and other cicada shell artists will be there.”
The art is so unbelievable that FOX ran a fact-check on the art. The result is “yes”. People are harvesting hundreds of cicada shells to make monster-inspired art works.
Some curious people, such as Alice and Mary, are learning to make a cicada statue (雕像) of the monster Baltan in Ultraman step by step. Some people have taken a normal approach and simply create art inspired by cicadas. In New Jersey, people create life-size painted cicadas on sidewalks.
32. Why did the American people make monster-inspired art works
A. To solve the problem caused by cicada shells. B. To create a kind of interesting art work.
C. To help cicadas go to the whole country. D. To copy the movies and shows of monster.
33. Which can replace the underlined word “deposited” in paragraph 2
A. Found. B. Changed. C. Destroyed. D. Left.
34. What’s Albert’s attitude to the art form
A. Unfriendly. B. Positive. C. Curious. D. Uncertain.
35. What does the author want to tell us in the last paragraph
A. Many cicadas are leaving the cities of America.
B. It’s difficult for people to make the statue of Baltan.
C. The solution has become popular among American people.
D. American people are competing with each other in art works.

Writing a school paper may not be that easy for every student, especially to those who struggle with organizing their thoughts on paper. Follow some of these simple yet tried and tested ways on how to properly write a school paper.
36 Not every high school teacher follows the same rules and standards of writing as each will most likely have his own set of directions. Do not hesitate to ask your teacher for any matter that needs to be explained. 37
Do not limit yourself to boring and unoriginal topics for a school paper. Teachers will usually give out just one topic for a school paper. This topic will usually cover large areas of interests. Students will be given a chance to be critical and creative at the same time. Make sure that you take advantage of this by thinking about a really unique topic. 38 If you have trouble thinking of what to write, then by all means brainstorm with your classmates.
39 Once you are sure what to write about, start checking materials that can be included in your school paper. If you have to, then collect relevant resources. Just do not forget to take note of all of your resources as these will be your proof (证据) if your teacher requires it later.
Always start by writing a clear outline (提纲). An outline would be your best bet in making your school paper as organized as possible. 40
A. Follow the latest edition of the writing.
B. Have a full introduction for your paper.
C. Research your choice of the topic completely.
D. You can do this either during class or in the office.

Once upon a time, there lived a girl named Walk. She was a good girl, but she never liked her name as all the kids around her made fun of her name. She ran away from everybody who laughed at her name, so Walk never really had friends. She would play alone all the time.
One day, Walk went to her favorite place near the river behind her house, where she always spoke to the river in her own way. Today, when talking to the river, she said, “You are so fortunate, as you get to travel to different places and always be with your friends—ducks, turtles, fishes, and plants. I wish I had more friends and wouldn’t be alone anymore.”
When she was bored talking to the river, she picked up some stones and tried to skip (打水漂) them across the river like her dad did. However, she failed most of the time. Finally, she found a perfect stone. She held it tightly in her fingers, and said to the river, “Oh, dear river, if I could skip this stone all the way across, I would wish for a dear friend just like you.” Saying this, Walk waved her arm back just like her dad had taught her and threw the stone with full strength.
She watched the stone skip once, twice… and to her amazement, the stone went on skipping and eventually, on the seventh skip, made it across the river onto the shore of the opposite side. Walk was totally amazed. She could not just believe her eyes.
Her deep thoughts and happiness were disturbed when she heard footsteps coming towards her. Walk looked around and found a little girl was rolling down towards her. Walk panicked and hurried to get up to help. However, she lost her balance and fell off too.
The little girl was crying and holding her knee. Walk pulled herself and went close to the girl, whose knee was bleeding. She said gently to the little girl, “It will be alright. My house is nearby, let me help you. My mother will take care of the wound.”

1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

(Text 10)
Last year we were asked to do science experiments. Chemistry, physics and biology are among the choice. Our teacher suggested looking for more ideas in science magazines and books, but I preferred to get the information from the Internet. I often helped my father grow vegetables. So my team decided to study how the weather influenced the vegetable’s growth. We had to make our experiment as exact as possible, so we decided to think about whether the rain made a difference to the vegetable size. Then we began to do our experiment. Our teacher pointed out that a single experiment wouldn’t be enough. He suggested doing the experiment at least three times, but in the end we only had time to do the experiment twice. When we had written up each part of the growth, we had to design a display for all the experiments. We tried our best to present our information as well as we could. What’s more, we had taken lots of photos, but none of the other teams did that! I learned so many new things.

A Successful Badminton Match
A wonderful badminton match was held on the playground of our school last Friday, whose aim was to give us students a break from heavy schoolwork pressure. Five girls and five boys were chosen from each class to compete, and their classmates cheered them up during the match. Although it was cold outside, the playground was filled with the students’ laughter and cheers.
The activity was thought highly of by the students, who said it provided them with an opportunity to enrich their campus life.

Once they arrived at her house, Walk called out, “Mom, help! Someone is injured.” On hearing this, Walk’s mother came quickly with the first-aid box. She made the little girl sit on the sofa and started cleaning the wound. She cleaned her knee, applied medicine to the wound, and wrapped it with bandages, which made the girl relaxed. She then asked the girl where she lived. The girl replied that she had just moved here. All the houses looked so similar that she mixed them up. Walk was surprised and felt a bit of joy thinking about her wish.
The little girl looked at Walk and asked “What is your name ” Walk froze and was scared to tell her name. However, Walk’s mother replied, “Her name is Walk and I am glad she could help you.” On hearing this, the little girl began to laugh. Walk felt sad and was near to tears. Just then, the girl stopped laughing and sincerely apologized, “I am sorry, but it is so funny as my name happens to be Run.” Walk was surprised and almost broke into laughter herself. Her wish for the river had come true, and now she had a very good friend named Run.
