Whether you are hoping to relax or you are looking forward to staying active in vacation, seeking out great hikes is a good choice. If you are planning a trip to southern California, or you live in San Diego, now it is time to search for new hiking trails (路线). Here are some of the most popular hikes in San Diego.
Cedar Greek Falls
For this hike, you’ll hike from the Cedar Creek Falls to the Devil's Punch Bowl, which is a pool at the base of Cedar Creek Falls. It can really heat up in the summer, and it is hard to hike, so be sure to pack lots of water and protein-filled snacks.
Cuyamaca Peak (顶峰)
The peak is in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, and you’ll see plenty of snow-capped trees if you do this hike in the winter. There are 37 trails in the state park, but you’ll want to stick to Azalea Glen Loop. It’s a difficult seven-mile hike that will bring you right to Cuyamaca Peak.
Cowles Mountain
It is well known that Cowles Mountain is the highest point in San Diego—so it’s worth visiting for the fact that you can see Mexico from the peak. The three-mile hike is quite difficult. If you are willing to wake up before the sun, Cowles Mountain is a beautiful spot to watch the sunrise. It’s one of San Diego’s most popular hikes, so starting early might also help avoid the crowds.
Swami’s Beach
Take the trail from Swami’s Beach to Cardiff Beach and you will experience impressive ocean views and the smooth sound of waves crashing onto the sand. As an easy out-and-back hike, the path is accessible (可进入的) from Swami’s Beach and is about three miles in total.

Louis Pasteur was born in Dole, France on December 27, 1822. His family was poor, and during his early education, Pasteur was an ordinary student who enjoyed art and singing. However, when Pasteur was exposed to science as a teenager, he knew he found his career.
In 1848, Pasteur went to college to become a science teacher. He then became a chemistry professor at the University of Strasbourg. He got married in 1849 and had five children. However, three died young from typhoid fever (伤寒). It was the deaths of his children that drove Pasteur to investigate infectious diseases in order to find a cure. During Pasteur’s time, people believed that bacteria appeared due to “spontaneous generation”(自然发生). They thought that the bacteria just appeared out of nowhere. Pasteur carried out experiments to see if this was true.
Through his experiments he proved that bacteria were living things that came from other living things. They didn’t just spontaneously appear. This was a major discovery in the study of biology and earned Pasteur the title of Father of Microbiology.
As Pasteur learned more about bacteria, he began to think they may be the cause of diseases in humans. When the French silk market was threatened by a disease to silkworms(蚕), Pasteur decided to investigate. He discovered that this disease was caused by bacteria. By killing them from the silkworm farms, he was able to cease the disease and save the French silk business.

Mother was right, as I discovered after I had finished my college education. I had decided to try for a job in a radio station. One day, I wanted to host (主持) a sports program. I went to Chicago and knocked at the door of every station. But I got turned down every time.
In one station, a kind lady said my problem was that I hadn’t got enough experience. “Get some work in a small station and work your way up,” she said.

The benefits of positive emotions don’t stop after a few minutes of good feelings. In fact, the biggest benefit that positive emotions provide is an improved ability to build skills and develop resources for use in later life.
A child, who runs around outside, swinging on branches and playing with friends, develops the ability to move athletically(physical skills), the ability to play with others and communicate with a team (social skills), and the ability to explore and examine the world around them(creative skills).
These skills last much longer than the emotions. Years later, that foundation of athletic movement might develop into a scholarship as a college athlete or the communication skills may develop into a job offer as a business manager. The happiness that developed the exploration and creation of new skills has ended long since, but the skills themselves live on.
All of this research begs the most important question of all: if positive emotions are so useful for developing valuable skills and appreciating the big picture of life, how do you actually get yourself positive Well, anything that creates feelings of joy, satisfaction and love will do the trick. You probably know what things work well for you. Maybe it’s playing the guitar. Maybe it's spending time with a certain person.
Recent research by Fredrickson and her colleagues shows that people who meditate(冥想) daily show more positive emotions than those who do not. As expected, they also build valuable long-term skills. For example, three months after the experiment was over, those people continued to show increased mindfulness, purposes of life, social support, and decreased symptoms(症状) of illness.
It is necessary to include playtime in your schedule. We have plans for meetings, conference calls and other responsibilities in our daily life. Why not spare some time for play Give yourself chances to smile and enjoy the benefits of positive emotions. Spare some time for play and adventure so that you can find joy, and explore and build new skill.
32.What can be learned from the second paragraph
A.Play and joy are beneficial to kids.
B.Physical skills are good for social skills.
C.It is necessary to hurt kids’ positive emotions.
D.It is difficult to encourage kids to explore.
33.What do people think of developing positive emotions
A.It is a must in daily life.
B.Playing the guitar is the best way.
C.Your friends have a big effect on you.
D.Different people have different methods.
34.What does the research mentioned in Paragraph 5 show
A.Meditation can give you short-term skills.
B.Meditation can make you have a good rest.
C.Meditation can reduce your work stress quickly.
D.Meditation can help you both mentally and physically.
35.What should you do when you make your plans in daily life according to the text
A.You should have a positive attitude.
B.You should consider your time for relaxation.
C.You should ignore all your extra work.
D.You should put your satisfaction and joy first.
